NDA candidate Om Birla took the resolution as a speaker of 18 lok sabha session. With this he criticized June 25, 1975 the emergency imposed by the then Prime minister Indira Gandhi which lasted for 21 months.
This is a blot on Indian history that evokes traumatic experience for those who have experienced its viciousness. Also it is a note of caution for India's democratic institutions to not repeat such grave actions.
But in the 17th lok sabha the then speaker went in the footsteps of emergency period action without even declaring the same.

We can see that the same scenario where the political MPs of opposition party being suspended and arrested due to corruption.

On the 49th anniversary of the implementation of the national emergency on June, 25 1975, the re-elected speaker of Lok Sabha, Om Birla, read out a resolution offering a thorough critique over the messy situation of Indian polity during the emergency period which continued for 21 months. He also termed it as an attack on the sanctity of the Indian Constitution and pledged that in the years to come, no government should be allowed to do this. The editor here opines that this is mere hypocritical for the speaker to say so, because it is absolutely evident that during the term of the 17th LOKSABHA, the ruling party did exactly the same things which it is now criticizing the Congress for. Civil liberty was completely lost during the emergency, media houses were under the government's control, free speech was alien, not much different from the situation now.

In today's editorial the writer was a bit sarcastic but my thoughts are the govt should not be so authoritian and not so lenient for a healthy democracy. However there is a coalition govt in the center now and according to previous trend , in a coalition govt the govt can't be so egotist and authoritian too. Om birla speaker of parliament has said about emergency on 25 june. He said that the emergency period was a blot( stain) for democracy. But in the previous they had also suspended various mp for parliament . They also not hearing about the opposition

Emergency in India in 1975-1977 and actions of present ruling govt. Both are not good for democracy. In this term (18th Loksabha) people are not fools to give the vote to BJP. Now people have created a balance between ruling party and the opposition. Same when was 2 years emergency implied in India, in next term ruling party totally wiped out by the citizens of India. If present government takes harsh decision may harm democracy, in next term this ruling government will also wipe out by the people like happened in 1977.

H.W-In todayâs article,the writer gave us an overview of the Emergency imposed on June 25,1975 by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and its relation with the existing BJP governmentâs actions.The newly elected Lok Sabaha Speaker Om Birla,who held the same position earlier,read out a resolution on Wednesday in which he strongly criticised the impacts of the Emergency and pointed out that how draconian they could be for the civil liberties.While,coming to some recent actions taken by him such as suspension of opposition leaders,restriction on debates,suppression of media,high-handedness,it can be seen clearly that the speakers vow of eliminating it completely is only a lip service(lacking action) against the Emergeny.The is one of the major reasons of the pruning of BJPâs status among citizens.
On June 25, the first session of LOK SABHA was initiated. MR. OM BIRLA is selected for speaker of the 18th LOK SABHA. The speaker of the LOK SABHA talked about theâ EMERGENCY on June 25, 1975â. He opposed the emergency as it was against the law of liberty of the people and a corrupt ruling by dismissing the minister and a 21-month emergency, on the other hand, he forgot about his authoritarian rulings. MR. OM BIRLA WAS also the 17th LOK SABHA speaker. In the past, he also misused his power by suspending the minister, seizing the account of the congress party, and crossing all the limits of the discriminatory ruling. In crux, he was just giving lip service and doing nothing in the future to protect democracy.

After returning in his own place Loksabha speaker Om Birla criticized the time period of emergency, which was conducted by the then pm Indira Gandhi on June 25, 1975. According to Our lok sabha speaker during emergency situation the govt. took very heinous steps. They did haunted activities like illegally suspended political leaders , illegally arrest people . But in this current scenario their is not any kind of emergency situation, inspite of this our lok sabha speaker has been misusing his power since 17th Loksabha . These kind of things may hinder the freedom of right of Indian. A political leader should not do that. Opposition party and the higher authority should heed to bring harmony to helm this turmoil in Indian democratic.

The author criticises the ruling government for their lip service. Om birla ,speaker of 18th loksabha election criticizes the phase of emergency 1975 by highlighting the undemocractic behaviour of congress party. But Mr Birla has forgetten his unlawful behaviour like dininshment of other mp of opposition party and the control of ruling governmemt over media ,press . The author warns to electorates of india to be vigilant against darconian laws to maintain healthy democracy. Recent ruling party actions are somewhat similar to emergency phase . We have to cover the loss of emergency phase not to criticise or exxagerate .
