GoetheTO in talk with Berlin pianist Igor Levit

Celebrated Berlin pianist Igor Levit is about to fly to North America to play concerts in Ann Arbor, Toronto, Montreal, and Cleveland. GoetheTo caught up with him in Heidelberg, where he is co-artistic director of the Musikfestival Heidelberger Frühling.
Before making his debut at the Royal Conservatory of Music’s Koerner Hall in Toronto on 10 March 2024 -his birthday- with music by Mahler, Hindemith and Beethoven, we talked to the (youngest ever) Wigmore Hall Medal recipient about how his programs come about, his fandom for Canadian pianist Marc-Andre Hamelin, and teaching the next generation of musicians.
