For the best Skiba songs, I can't tell if he's singing about drugs or a woman, and I don't care. He is his generation's most underrated song writer.
This song makes me long for a lover that doesn't exist. 💔
Super underrated band. Skiba is a gifted dude. They should've been way ahead of Bad Religion, Blink and others. Inexplicable
Blink was more marketable.
@@elftower907 i dont think one is or can be better..they are just different, the way they play and write lyrics they both have with their ups and downs, kinda like apples and oranges....blink is funnier, energetic and more light hearted , trio is more mature, darker and poetic...both beautiful bands in their unique ways
@Serhii Kozak honestly the main reason why trio wasnt bigger is probably because they never signed to a big label until 2009 with epitaph, and that label is sorta still kinda indie-ish....i know it sounds kinda boomer-ish but back in the day, labels did have a huge influence if a band made it big or not, like green day was huge once dookie came out through warner music (reprise) and blink became big with enema released through MCA (also that those are really good written records)
but if trio would have released an album like from here through infirmary or good mourning on sony, warner or universal...those guys wouldve been unstoppable, with a huge marketing team and more radio play etc. but i think for being a good part of their careers in medium-ish labels like vagrant and asian man they attracted a big fan base and are pretty accepted in the punk community
They almost certainly sold more records than Bad Religion thanks to a brief stint on a major label and greater market appeal with normies. Love Alk3, seeing them at the Metro many many years ago will always be one of the best shows I've ever been to. Wish I could have seen them at the Fireside Bowl.
Never said what I was thinking
the night you turned up at my door
I could tell that you'd been drinking
as we went crashing to the floor
you came from Santa Monica
with tear drops in your eyes
we passed out in the shadows
of a lonely Thursday night
We kissed away our memories
Fucked away the pain
we went out for some coffee
then we did it all again
My Krystalline
Oh I want you Krystalline (x2)
Couldn't tell what you were thinking
the night I turned up at the bar
I told you I quit drinking
and you laughed til you saw stars
I came to Santa Monica
with flowers in my hand
I grabbed you by the lips with mine
and slowly pulled you in
we kissed away our memories
and fucked away the pain
you called in sick to work
and then we did it all again
My Krystalline
Oh I want you Krystalline.....
Love these lyrics
Skiba's singing is better than ever, man!
matt has the best shouting voice, still got it on the Krstalline high parts
That guitar is taking a beating during this song and it’s awesome. So raw.
THIS ALBUM IS PURE PERFECTION
great song to end the album, matts emotional and clever lyrics mixed with spooky-mysterious elements like the sound effects, quintessential to alkaline trio...thank you boys for the record
You dont know how much so many of us needed this ♡
it was worth the wait....trio is back and they gave us a fucking great record. In a way, i feel both matt and dan brought in some elements from their side projects like sekrets and emergency room, but also they knew how to elaborate on the dark themes that we know trio for and all love and cherish.. the fact that this is a love song mixed with horror and mystery makes it the perfect, quintessential trio song
I agree and I love every moment of it
You are just so f*****ng right ;)
Could not care more for this song, so touching
Yaasss! I was worried after the last album and Matt being in blink now. But this album is fire on every track
God I love it. Reminds me of Blue in the Face from Good Mourning. So raw and so Trio. Welcome back boys!! ❤🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤
i definitely got blue in the face vibes when i first heard this. blue in the face is my fav trio song ever.
reminds me of the cure's "cut here" acoustic cover they did a while ago
Still hitting those high notes! Can you imagine being in that room when he was recording vox for this?!
Krystalline is a Greek girls name literally meaning "ice".
Ice is also a street name for the illicit drug Crystal Meth, which is the purest and most potent form of methamphetamine. It can be smoked using a glass pipe.
The lyric in this song "I grabbed you by the lips with mine and slowly pulled you in..." makes me think that this song could be an ode to Crystal Meth. I'm not suggesting that Matt Skiba has ever used methamphetamine, but I think it's an interesting concept for a song.
'97 is about weed. And God knows Matt's had his substance issues. No judgement, just agreeing with the possibility of your theory.
Reminds me of dead on the floor but this is a real love song 😍
My favorite on the new album, by far.
Agreed with Katie above.... reminds me of Blue. You can hear Matt's "Sekrets" influence too.
Yup! totally has a Sekrets feel. Love it.
Sekrets, yeah, but too much studio work to sound anything like Blue in the Face, imo.
Great song. Pushes my vocal chords and only sometimes matches the ‘want you Cristaline’ scream line in the chorus. Lots of Alkaliine songs like that where I can only match the notes screaming and my voice is fuckin loud. Doesn’t sound right without a PA dialed in and a mic I can back off of. And skiba’s stage skills have improved since Crimson. Have they improved? Is it alcohol? Or is it a diazopine? Well, keep it up. A MIX! When he was here a couple years ago, it was alcohol. Nothing more obvious than a newly on the market rock star. I stand in endless envy.
I love the ethereal background in the track.
This album is gonna be awesome.
instantly fell in love with this.
When I wash my hands:
OHHHHH I WANT YOU CRYSTAL CLEAN!
I am dying over this comment hahahahha
OHHHH WHERES THE LISTERINE
Jason Dodd ded 😂
The best trio songs are always the acoustic gems thrown at the end of the albums
Them chills...
This song is such a fucking gem. I LOVE IT
Absolutely love this song! New album is ace
Best song on the album!
Good song. Reminds me of “The Cure: Cut here”. ✨
This i can hear way more than any of the other comparisons being made.
ALK3 has sing it..
Pre ordered the album, for sure my favorite song
don't know why, but makes me cry
a little bit
I would like some milk from the milkmans wifes....
I love A3s music and this is probably my new favorite album lol
This album is great, but I love this song so damn much
No heart to speak of emotion
Yes
I love both blink and alkaline trio, but god damn this album blows blinks last one out of the water, wish they would let skiba let loose like this
i love this so much i cant
"I want you Chris Deline"
I want to hear this song live, someday!! 🎸🎸🎸🎸🤘🤘🤘🤘
Okay yes this album is a masterpiece I'm more sure than ever
This sounds like a sequel to Sorry About That
Yo do you got instagram i see your comments everywhere
I fucking love this song.
The whole album is fire. My only criticism is there's not enough acoustic. Lol
Ommmooooo!!!!! I'm speechless!!!!!

Did Matt forget to finish writing the song?

Emma walked like an angel
Emma fell like rain
Wait... this is a different song? Oh...
Bryce Castle good mourning is my favorite album but this one is amazing too!!
lol the guitar on "I cant believe" reminds me of "time to waste"
yeah !
Wow 😍 made my day
Okay someone explain to me why Skiba doesn't write songs like this for Blink??!
elijoker Probably because Mark and Feldmann have more control than he does
he sounds so hurt oh my god
Reminds me of Angel of Deaf
okay I just finished listening to the album and I loved it hehehe
😭😭❤️❤️❤️
this is about chris delia
Yes finaly
well damn that was good
Fun fact about this song: It used to be called Chris D'Elia.
Can't fucking wait to get this album
I laughed so hard when I realized this is Matt's love song to cocaine.
He had to have been laughing so hard when he wrote this
cocaine comes in dried paste form, not crystal
Santa Mònica-Sagunt-Sant Guillem.
♥️
Wow..........
this is so fucking good
🖤🖤🖤
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
This song is the definition of emocore kinda music, perfect!
🤘
🐰
Glycerine
What's being said in the end?
Sounds like derek or dan asking if they're done
Thanks, it sounded like a voicemail to me.
can yall stop making great music?
🖤
boom.
Why so short? 😂
LA AMEEEE
Same Melody as Emma
Matt jokes in public that he writes the same progressions in every single song.
Dead On The Floor too
😌😐😔🤘🤗💜
I've heard it all before.
Is this what he really experienced ?
The shame was true, and now it cursed for sure..
oooohhh I WANT NICOTINE
Deffs some Blink 182 influence . But i love it.
Alkaline trio was one of my favorites growing up. But damn, everything sounds almost exactly the same in this one. Hooking up with Blink 182 seems to have watered down your creativity. This really makes me sad.
Not a great ending to the album which is a shame, I mean the songs alright but a bit cringey in parts
Total BS.This band need to evolve and stop just putting out the same songs over and over to make their new fans happy.
js mn u suck
Ain't broke, dont try and fix it.
Why are you here?
