It's not the easiest thing to do, we have 1140. Such a relief when we finally get it in the truck!

We miss our truck camper. :) We went to a fifth wheel but the Lance 1172 was very cozy or the two of us. Happy Camping! Great video and good patience.

What a VERY GOOD video !! This goes through every inch of all of the thoughts and questions I ask myself as I go through the steps necessary to safely load my camper into the bed of my truck.
Commentary is perfectly done...by a man who is obviously a PRO! Thanks a bunch for taking the time to share with us what you know well !!

Thanks for the vid! 5000lbs, wow! I have the 990 with only one slide, it’s 3400lbs which my F350 dually doesn’t even notice but I don’t know if it would like 5k. Your 450 was the best choice I think! The best take away was the red tape. Don’t know why I never thought of that. It takes a lot of guessing out of the equation when you do the initial line up, thanks for that.

Thanks, nice demo. Maybe your lumber yard can sell you scrap pieces of 4x12 for good weight distribution under those jack stands (I used 4x12 pieces when jacking up a beam under my house when repairing foundation posts).

    1. don't use the word drop you'll keep giving me nightmares (lower). 2. I would leave all cribbing underneath until you reach desired height (in-case something drops). 3. Alignment tape is a good idea. I put a piece of electrical tape on the front of the camper & when lowering the front I try to get it lined up with my center running light. I can push on the camper while the boss activates the lowering controls to get to CL

Hello! Greetings from Norway. Just wanted to say this was a helpful and thorough video. I have a pickup camper myself, but not as big and nice a camper as you have. The principle of loading is the same. And your bad ass truck! I'm so jealous. Is not common with F250, F350 or F450 etc. in Norway. They are mega expensive and are registered as large trucks due to the 3500 kg (7716 pounds) GW rule, and with the extended driver's license. Wishing you happy camping in the future.

However I do not camp when it is so cold. I rather drive to the coast and try some fishing there. The coastline in South Norway is often free for snow and temp around 37 f

Jeebus, just buy a $30K travel trailer, you dont need to be a civil engineer to hook one up. 23 ft travel trailer probably has the same space and you dont need a dually to haul one.

I've just seen a man who is even more careful than I am. Good on you my friend!
It would be a much nicer world for buying used items, if everyone was as careful.
I love how thorough your videos are, I watch other videos and I'm constantly annoyed because they clearly just skipped some feature or part of the camper, well done.
I'm just a couple hundred km West of you (South of Calgary), where do you like to camp? I have a 9 year old son, he's pretty mature and doesn't need a kids playground, wifi, or a pool, (we live rural) so he's happy with fishing, dirt biking, and walking/riding trails (or just playing with a camp fire). Do you have any favourite spots?
Oh yeah! What year is your truck? I have a 2017 F-450.

Green letter plates? R u in Saskatchewan by chance?
And so glad you made this video, i have a 2022 Northern lite 10-2 on my ram 3500 dually, i had to take the camper off for the first time n put it back on 3 months ago, took me over 2 hours 🙄, i got like 1.5” on each side of the dually brackets to my rear fenders, n yes finger spacing on each side at the back of the camper too once i start sliding her in. I’m relieved to know it seems all the big truck campers are challenging as heck to get on 😂. Next time i will do centre tape lines as u have. 🍻

I have relatively the same setup. …. 2022 F450 and a 2017 AF 1140. What air pressures are you running in your tires? The Sticker calls for 90 psi in the front and 85psi rear. I think with the weight of these campers and the commercial G rated tires those pressures can definitely be brought up a bit.

Nicely done! I have a 2021 F350 diesel dually and a 2021 AF 1150 like you. I have built a 2x6 redwood frame that frames a pink foam panel that keeps the camper a couple of inches above the rails of the bed. I see your camper with the rubber bed mat is just an inch or less above the bed rails, any issues with it being that close?

    • @darrylg7600

    • @skoffco
      @skoffco Před 11 měsíci +1

@@darrylg7600I have a rubber bed mat and a 4 by 8 sheet of pressure-treated plywood in the bed of my 2022 F450. When the camper is loaded on the truck it is still dangerously close to the gas line that runs along the underside of the camper.
I wish loading the camper was easier than it is. I just haven’t quite got the hang of it yet. It takes my wife and I at least :45 min an hour to get it loaded on the truck with a bid of frustration in the process. Makes loading our fifth wheel camper a breeze in comparison.
