  • Hi guys! Short one today; I had to move the old Plymouth Belvedere out of the barn to make a spot for the Renault 5... I think it'll still start and we can go around the yard... Maybe I should put it back on the road?
See you on Saturday for the SOS... Cheers!

Great story about going cross country to PEI. My friends and I were bored one night and realized we’d never been to Canada. We hopped in my dad’s 1973 Caprice, drove up I-91 to I-93 then crossed the border. Three of the guys said “ok, we made it, let’s go home” ugh! 43 years later and they still haven’t paid me for gas! Cheers from Connecticut!

Your Belvedere brings back memories of my dad's. Four door Slant Six like yours, but his had three on the tree. Unstoppable in the snow. I particularly remember a trip we did from Covington, KY (across the river from Cincinnati, OH) to near Irvine, KY which is about 90 miles to visit grandparents and had to go back in a really bad snowstorm during the winter of 1967. I-75 was practically brand new at the time and it was filled with cars that were not faring well. I don't remember if he had chains on the car, but I do remember it having studded snow tires. As we were in the final stretch for home, the Slant Six started running rough but we made it. My dad popped the hood and found the engine compartment packed with snow. Later in the spring, it got rear ended while parked on the street. My dad was doing a tune up on it and was sitting on the passenger side looking through his "Fix Your Plymouth" manual, and just stuck his foot back inside the car about a minute before someone plowed into the car mangling the left rear quarter panel. The impact pushed his Belvedere into the back of a same year Falcon sedan and damaged the front. My dad replaced the '61 with a '63 Belvedere with a 318 poly. The '63 was pretty much the perfect car. Wish I had it now.

I love the look of that car! The Virginal Exner design was quite different, but that's what I like about it. That car is a gem!

Spring brings such pleasures and treasures when winter’s slumber is shaken off of CWM’s garage fleet. Very nice to see the Belvedere and hear its backstory. I wouldn’t get rid of it either; it’s been like a faithful old friend and you can’t beat the ‘Forward Look’ coupled with the legendary Slanter. Cheers!

Good to see your 1961 Belvedere. And hear the story behind it. For a a 63 year old car, it’s in pretty nice shape. I see some of the rust popping through on the lower areas, but since you’ve already done the 61 Fury, any repairs you do should be much easier. While not a 2 door, this one has good lines over all and the shapes and trim come together quite attractively on this one. And the bonus? You and your friends can get in and out of it easily and get comfortable. Your 61 fury is your show piece pedestal car. This one is the nice driver cruiser. Since this one has the manual, adding an overdrive would make it an economical cruiser. With replacement door and window seals, probably a reasonably quiet car too.

Every time I see a newer model Lexus with the spindle grill it reminds me of a 1961 Plymouth. The original spindle grill!

I really like the Belvedere, might not have huge value, but I would be proud to drive it.

Hi Scott! I always admired that car from your other videos. My grandfather had a 1961 Fury, white with the blue interior. Beautiful car and yours brings back fond memories. Thank you! Cheers.

Yep, it should be on the road again. I love the style of the car. The dash is really cool. The car might not have a lot of cash value but ir does have a lot of sentimental value for you. A car of your younger days. Most people don't have what the drove every day over 20 years ago. I love the slant 6, they never die. Thanks for this channel.
