Kayaking With Gators At Myakka River Is NO JOKE - Afraid? YES
Vložit
- čas přidán 28. 03. 2023
- We took our ORU foldable kayaks up the infamous Myakka River in Florida even though we were very much afraid. We went... even though the weather was supposed to turn nasty and the wind was blowing more than 25mph. Making your heart beat faster means doing the things that scare you... sometimes it's the things that scare you a little... and sometimes it's the things that scare you a lot. But like us, if you don't succumb to fear and conquer those fears you will at the end of the day smile in wonder at what you've accomplished. Sounds good right? In reality this scared the crap out of us but we did it anyway. Should you? You and only you can make that decision.

You must be talking to me. Yes,I’m scared and you are nuts!!! Couldn’t pay me enough.
I think you are right.. we are nuts.
I'm 6th generation Sarasotan, my great grandfather was one of the people responsible for Myakka becoming a stat park.( A B Edwards)
We kayak all the time and I will never kayak the Myakka! Gators are nothing to mess with! We have had them try to turn our boats over.
With that said I really do enjoy you vlog.
PS Never kayak with a pet, they are gator bait.
That is so awesome that your great grandfather was part of making Myakka a SP. Thanks for sharing your prospective, much appreciated.
Just one word, YIKES!
One chomp away from an alligator happy dance.
Good one.
Exciting, challenging ,wow !!! Scared the heck out of me for you …. Great awesome channel!! BS & BK & BC that’s be careful!! 😮
To be honest it scared the heck out of me too.
I'm a Native Floridian and I love seeing people enjoy the natural beautiful parts of my state! I especially love seeing people encounter our giant dinosaurs and not freak out :) Great job in keeping your cool when Big Daddy jumped in, and just chillin' around all the others.
Thanks for your comment, it is much appreciated.
Y’all are very brave! Never would I do that! Only in an airboat with others….but sure did enjoy this! Glad y’all made it back safely
43 alligators oh hell no. 👏👏👏for you. My heart was beating fast just watching you guys, and I knew you were going to be fine.😄
It was exhilarating for sure.
Great to relive our adventure. It makes me nervous to watch it and watch Owen outrun the big boy. Great job Lynn conquering your fear and paddling in the wind. It was a tough and scary paddle. What a memory!!!
@ My Cancer Journey Blessings on your journey. I am praying for you.
It was a great memory and we appreciate you guys pushing me (Lynn) out of my comfort zone.
That gator wanted an Owen snack. Wee doggie Intense. And your crazy 😂
It was very intense the whole time. Thanks so much for watching.
I live in SC and gave up kayaking after I got hit by an alligator! So glad you left Maggie behind and nothing happened. Great pics there at the end of the video.
How did you get hit by an alligator? That would probably make me give it up too.
That looked interesting.
Glad the mean gator didn't make an oru taco out of you😅
...Safe travels.
Me too. Thanks for watching.
Nervous laughter was my takeaway! Laughter, while nervous. It was a delightful post and my palms sweat just a little.
I think we were all a little nervous, some more than others.
Now that was an adventure!! Thanks for taking us along…. Or should I say, for leaving us at home 😉
Either way, we appreciate you watching and commenting.
Another fantastic adventure you have taken us on. Seeing original Florida nature and wildlife even on video is just amazing. Always love the wildlife when we visit Florida, thanks for another memory.
We both love Florida’s nature and wildlife, it’s why we keep coming back.
Padding among the gators in a canoe or pirouge is one thing but a blow up or folding kayak that's a hard no ....Troy Landry would say Choot'm...Happy Trails 🐕
I get it. Not the smartest thing we've done in a few months but it sure was fun. 😂👍
Nope, I definitely wouldn't get in the water! I love Lynn's remarks.
I loved them too. She was being totally serious. Just stay back and let you guys go on closer to the bridge.
Thanks, could you tell I was scard
Yikes! It scared me. 😱
It scared me too. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for allowing us to tag along, but I’m pretty sure I’m not that brave 😉
We appreciate you tagging along.
I prefer the trails at Myakka. Scares the dickens out of me CCC to even think about kayaking there. You are all braver than I am. All it takes is one grumpy gator.
We love the trails there too. Not sure “braver” is the right word.
Thanks for sharing Kayaking with the Gators 🐊👍 I don’t think my wife would go or let me go Kayaking there!
Wow that was extremely exciting. Thanks for sharing and happy you had the chance to experience this. Ps BE SAFE ❤
It was quite the experience and it was very scary. thanks for watching.
Loved your video and had to share what was on a t-shirt. There are two alligators, both holding up two kayaks with kayakers in them. The one alligator says to the other, they taste pretty good once you get them out of their shell. Enjoy your adventures
That is the funniest story. Wish I had heard it before we did the video. 👍👍😂😂
Oh, hell no!!!! My heart is racing just watching that! I’m sure it was an awesome adventure and good for you for challenging yourselves.
It was stepping out of my comfort level for sure.
Oh heck no❣️ My heart rate and blood pressure was crazy just watching this. Glad you had a great time...such courage 👍
It was something our friends had done and suggested, we were glad we did something that pushed us out of our comfort zone.
I’m so glad you guys made through seeing 43 alligators. I knew you all would be fine. It must be mating season. I never scene Owen paddle so fast. Everything was good with me with watching. Just was scared a bit for you but knew you would be fine. I am so glad you made it out ok! Hope you have a great night and weekend. See you soon!
It seemed the gators were a lot active than normal we thought it was because they were protecting their babies🤷♀️. Thanks so much for watching.
Happy to subscribe
Thanks so much!
Yikes!!!
Myakka is amazing. Wish you got to stay there! The gators there are Huge! I didn't have my kayak or my dog when I was there. Thanks for sharing! Peace & Prayers.
It is amazing I’m so many ways. Thanks so much for watching.
Not to worry thay don’t eat much thanks for the video 👍
Good to know.
You guys are far braver than me! Well done! Great video.
Thanks, we appreciate you watching.
That’s my backyard and I paddle there a lot. I’ll take you down to the Deep Hole next trip. Awesome experience
So glad to hear you paddle there a lot, makes us feel less crazy. I’m sure the Deep Hole is awesome.
You’re crazy! I kept telling myself that you must’ve lived to tell about it because the video got uploaded! Lol Gads! No way!
Haha. We did live to tell about it. But it was a thriller for sure.
I’ll agree with crazy.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle 😂🤣😂
My clearest memory of alligators in Florida was one day we were by a body of water in the Everglades that had a large number of green turtles. When a gator was making a meal of a turtle the sound of the shell cracking in its jaws was the creepiest sound I had ever heard!
Wow… I’ve never heard of an alligator eating a turtle. I’m sure that sound was creepy.
I don’t mind going with you from the comfort of my recliner! Nope! Nada! I live in Florida but I respect (scared of) gators! 😂😬
We appreciate you watching from your recliner.
Holey Morley! Glad you got back safe, that was scary just watching the video!
It was even more scary in person. Thanks for watching.
You want to paddle with Gators , Big ones ? Then go to the Okefenokee Swamp out of Stephen C. Foster State Park. Paddling out of the Park and going the 11.2 miles to the campsite at Cravens Hammock we quit counting huge Gators , they were everywhere. The greater majority were along the dike section of the run.
We've been on a Jon boat on ghat swamp. Agree. Big ones there for sure.
I am definitely going to have to do that . Probably shouldn't take my wife. She would hang chicken of the side of my kayak. 😂
It did take us both out of our comfort zone.
You’re from the South so you’ll get this: Bless your heart! 😅 Love y’all.
🤣
Bonjour! WOW that is to many and way to close for me! I only saw one gator in a resort in Mexico when we were walking to the restaurant and each time we passed at that place I was looking all around to make sure he was not there, and it wase a small one. You have my respect! bonne journée, take care!
Thanks for your comment… much appreciated.
Omg
Wow,very impressive.
Great photography
💛👍
Thanks, we appreciate you watching.
That was a LOT of alligators in one river! So glad your little dog wasn't there for that one!! As an Australian, I paddled near alligators in Florida when I was there (many years ago now!) but I remember that I wasn't scared at the time. I don't think I'd feel like that now 🤣
We’ve paddled many times when there was one or two alligators that would just lay on the sides sunning… but these guys were very active and it was very scary for me.
Stayed at the State Park a few years ago.
If he would gave got ahold of you that gator would've been doing the happy dance, yikes !!
You guys are too much. I remember one of you saying in a video awhile ago that if something you want to do scares and excites you than it's probably worth doing. I think I would have been more scared getting out at the end thinking they may have followed me back for an easy meal. 😬
That's been our motto for a while now. And yes we checked many times and kept watch while getting out.
😮
Just watched the video and boy, you guys are very brave!! That's for sure the only way I will see the alligators (through your cameras)! What an exciting video, thanks 😊
It is a good way to see alligators 😂.
Lynn and Owen 1, alligator 0 …………..this time! Great to see you with your good friends! I can’t watch anymore of this video! 😱.
❤️🐾
Thanks for trying.
Never heard of the Meokka river...
It is awesome with more wildlife (birds and Alligators) than any other place we’ve been.
I paddle in a lake in north florida and the alligators are very docile, I am able to Had all right up to them and they just sit there.
These guys were a little more active than we were use to. It did make it more exciting.
Lived in Florida for 8 years and I’ve canoed/kayaked/bass boating many miles of waters there. Be mindful of canals, creeks, and rivers with high slanted banks that have tall grass. Always stay in the middle, because gators are hiding in that tall grass and if you come too close to the bank, they’ll come down off that hill like a rocket because you’re cutting off their escape into the water. Mating season is a hard no; they’ll attack pretty much anything in the water. When it comes to Florida, I like my water clear so I can see what’s coming at or after me. :)
Thanks for your perspective. Much appreciated!
I’ve been watching u Gys love the content just an FYI it’s gator mating season in Florida they are hungry and very protective at this time 2 people in Florida lost there lives this year
Careful did sure but actually on the Myakka there were already 3-4 week old hatchlings. Cute but dangerous too.
I grew up camping, boating, water skiing on the St. John's river in Central FL in the 60's when you rarely saw a gator. Then they became a protected species and over populated the lakes and rivers forever changing the recreational use of those beautiful water ways. Now I don't stand within 6 feet of any FL water because those gators lurk on the edge and you'd never know. They lunge so far and so fast you don't have a chance. I may sound paranoid but I'm okay with that. Gators may be intriguing but should only be observed from a distance.....in my opinion.
Thanks for sharing.
Was just there 2 weeks ago. Would have loved to run into you guys. 😊
We hope you had a great time. I’m sure we will run into you one of these day.
I’m just going to pretend that gator that chased you was just a subscriber who wanted to say hello.
Haha
Oh, a big hell no!! Chomp, chomp, chomp! 🐊🐊🐊
I'd become Jesus and walk on water with that gator chasing me⛩️
I have never Owen move that fast. It was scary,
Lol... just remember to get footage of yourself being dragged under, tenderized and eaten, so we can all share in the experience of the Myakka River without actually having to risk our own lives. It's people like you that perform a very valuable service to those too sane to experience actually being eaten alive.
Glad you considered the video a valuable service.
Objects in mirror are closer than they appear!!!!!
O crap… was Owen’s exact words.
youtUBER eats delivery!!
🤣
Really glad you didn't bring Maggie.
We don’t usually take Maggie unless we are familiar with the water and know that we have never seen alligators before.
Great video. A little fear will keep you alive but I bet the number of gators will grow with each retelling of the trip. Any idea what kind of bird that was at 4:02 ? Y'all be careful. Happy tails and safe travels.🐊
We are careful. Glad that one is over though.
I do not know what kind of bird that was but it was beautiful.
Wow they look dangerous to be around. You all are brave. Glad you didn’t bring little Maggie with you. Enjoy.
No Maggie. They are mostly docile. But you can't always count in that.
Gator got yor granny chomp chomp. Should have lassoed one to pull you along lol
Love it! Thanks for watching.
OMG that was scary! I think I would had to make a hard pass on that kayak ride.
We totally understand. I’m still can’t believe we did that.
No thanks. I do have a question - do you think a person who does not swim should try kayaking alone? I have never done it but it does look like fun.
No, I would not recommend kayaking alone for someone how who does not have experience and cannot swim.
No, no way, uh uh, not a chance and finally… NOPE.
Only live once. And it scared us and made our hearts beat faster. Not the smartest thing we have done for sure.
Hey Owen, it's pronounced My-akka (stress the my) not Meykka. Just a born n raised Floridians pronunciation of one of my local rivers
My. Got it. 👍
Inflatable kayak with gators?! No thanks. Lol
I know… I’m not sure which would be worse inflatable or ours.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle you did well. man are those gators scary lookin
Great video! It reminds me of a story that Lem Griffis, an Okefenokee humorist and teller of tall tales used to tell to visitors of his fish camp. The story was about a lady from Atlanta who was dropping her young son off at the fish camp for a week of fishing. She was telling Lem that she was very worried about her son falling out of a boat and drowning in the Okefenokee swamp. He assured her that in the entire history of the Okefenokee swamp that no one has ever drowned…….They were eating by alligators, long before they drowned!
True local story.
Great true story.
Wear the right colors and those boats look like gator tacos :)
Thanks for watching.
No way would I do that!
Want our smartest thing for sure.
all good until it happens then the person gets killed and the alligator gets killed because the people wanted to go paddle with gators. .
👍
Why even tempt it?…🙈🙈🙈 Just begging for ruin!…☠️☠️☠️ Blocking channel!…🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻
Sorry you feel that way.
Not your smartest decision. You have no idea how much danger you were in.
You are probably right.
Love all y'all... But no... just no... 😬🫣😱
We totally understand. Thanks for watching though.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle The both of you have more bravery and sense of adventure than anyone else I follow on CZcams... or Facebook... or Twitter... or Instagram... or... or... ANYWHERE! ❤💪🏼
@@RoadsofLife might say more about Owen's lack of sense and his ability to talk me into things... like the Revel and the Ekko. 😂😂👍
