Vayera
This section begins with the third day after Abraham’s circumcision. Even for an infant, this is said to be the most painful day, and Abraham was hardly an infant. He was 99 years old, so we can assume the pain was far greater. Yet the creator knew that even in the midst of his pain, Abraham would still be generous and hospitable, always ready to welcome any travelers on the road as his honored guests. We learn from this that by sharing - even when we are in our greatest pain- we draw the light and mercy of the creator to ourselves.
