Allah Hoo - Hitesh Sonik feat Jyoti Nooran & Sultana Nooran, Coke Studio @ MTV Season 2

  • Sufism goes beyond religion and talks about true love for the Almighty. One doesn't need to visit the temple or the mosque to pray to god, but can do that with an honest plea from anywhere. This song has great positive energy to it and Hitesh Sonik wanted an honest and happy voice to sing it. On hearing the Nooran sisters, Jyoti and Sultana, he was sure that this would be a great partnership! The Nooran sisters were also part of the iconic track Tung Tung from MTV Sound Trippin. This spiritual song has a subliminal energy thanks to their raw and rustic voices. Through the addition of drums and Balabhaskar's magical piece on the violin, Hitesh effortlessly brings in a rock vibe to the song.

    Context:
    It's a song by a Sufi Saint called Bulleh Shah, of his spiritual journey and realizations
    therein, along with the poets emotions on the subject.
    Meaning:
    You can be anywhere and still connect to god, going to a Mosque and reciting a prayer
    is of no use if the same is not done from the heart, with complete faith, to establish a true
    connection. There is no use cleaning and beautifying your body from outside, if there is
    malice and deceit within. If the heart doesn't nurture the picture of The One and Only, but
    all others, no amount of prayers can ever reach him. For, it is no use committing a sin and
    then praying, because only deeds matter.
    We are all trapped within our worldly devices and hence have no time to even thank Him.
    A saint chants to connect to his god from within. They are the songs of his soul, as he is
    desperate to be one with Him. For this life is impermanent and there is no use just living
    for selfish needs. His love alone can enlighten our path, because that light is not restricted
    to the mosques and homes...but is omnipresent.

    Looks like I'm sitting on a Dargah of sufi. Sufi music is what helps Muslims Hindus and Sikhs come close and removes hate whether its Baba Bule Shah, Khawaja Moin uddin Chishti, Nizam ud uddin they all gave a message of love and peace. They were men with no materialistic desires.

This genre of amalgamation of Sufi music originated originally from India and has grown very popular in your nation. But Indian music is a lot more than just this.... 😊😊😊 We are a diverse and plural nation and we reject singularity in any form. PS: explore Indian music and am sure nothing else will inspire you anymore...

      Tanya Arora when you finally found God inside you then your heart will sing and your soul will dance passionately.. nd this is the height of spirituality that is God gifted and may God choose us to grant this great gift..i want Allah I LOVE him but needs his LOVE.
      If you do not give up the crowds
      you won't find your way to Oneness.
      If you do not drop your self
      you won't find your true worth
      If you do not offer all you
      have to the Beloved,
      you will live this life free of that
      pain which makes it worth living.

    I am so glad they retained Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Sahib’s iconic rendition of Allah Hoo at the end. No reimagining of this classic is complete without a nod to the maestro who first brought Bulleh Shah’s words to life. Beautifully performed, steeped in both a respectful nostalgia and an optimism for the future of Sufi music. Well done!

    Was it just me who noticed that Sultana was effortlessly managing the pitch while jyoti made it look like hard work :) Sultana was also enjoying the piece way more.. Those moves were awesome.. going along the rhythm!!! A huge fan of the sisters :)

    • @madhurpole
      @madhurpole Před 3 lety +2

      Sultana was dancing more effortless. Sultana has a more high pitched voice and hence it was easier for her. Jyoti has a more bass voice and hence the pitch was more of an effort for her. Plus she had more heavy lifting to do in terms of taan/ murkhi. Jyoti is the more accomplished singer and hence gets to sing the more complex bits in the song.

    I love listening to Nooran Sisters. However, whatever videos I have watched on youtube I always found that in live performances Jyoti's persona overpowers Sultana's presence. But here I found both of them on equal footing and part of that credit goes to the way this song has been arranged in Coke studio. In fact I found Sultana's voice much more appealing. Nevertheless, both of them sang very well and their voices are out of the world.

    • @OwnerOP
      @OwnerOP Před 5 lety

      I've mentioned in my comment you can read it above. But the main reason is that Coke Studio fucked up while editing this song. They tried to slim the voice so they cut the bass and that's true magic of Jyoti's voice as we all know. Both are legendary but Jyoti is much much better.
