    I bought an RDX 2 months ago. I love it. The touch pad is very easy to learn, and it keeps the screen free of thumb prints. Plus, you shouldn’t be doing anything on the screen while you are driving anyway so I see zero problems with the touch pad.

    I test drove the RDX today and the screen wasn't that big of an issue. Once you set up your pre-sets for radio, you wouldn't need to get into the menu that often. I actually was able to speak some commands to avoid the touchpad.

    2022 RDX owner here as well. It works the same way with Android Auto and I have zero issues. Took me about a week to get used to it controlling as a touchpad joystick instead of a relative position touchpad like it does in the native Acura screens, and after that I've never had any complaints.
    I'll also say that I'll 100% take this over the full touchscreen crap. We have that in our A7, and while it's very pretty, it's a constant distraction from the road to use. You have to lean forward to get to the right side of most touchscreens as the driver - it's a minor inconvenience, but after you get used to being able to control it from a resting sitting position it's hard to not be vaguely annoyed.

    I have had an RDX for 3 months. Full disclosure, I have been an Acura driver since 1997, so I obviously love the brand. Concerning using the track pad, I like it, now that I have gotten used to it. The only thing I don’t like about the system is the WiFi. I subscribed to the trial, but I have not figured out how to connect. I’m comfortable with technology. If the WiFi connection is too challenging to use, then it’s a fail for me.

    @marcwasserman4507 Před 6 měsíci +1

    I love the RDX as a car, but the touchpad was so unintuitive even when parked, let alone while driving, that I didn't buy this vehicle. I think Acura needs a redesign of that aspect, because it's otherwise a terrific car!! I agree the Mazda CX-5 drives similarly and is more intuitive, although it doesn’t have the base engine power or shifting smoothness of the RDX.

  • @mj8495
    @mj8495 Před 10 měsíci

    The gear shift is really a non-issue for many drivers. Get in, push a button, arrive at destination and push button. Done...not a big deal 😊
    As far as infotainment system, there is a learning curve. Is it more work than poking at an iPad screen? Yes. Is it really that difficult? No, but you must take a couple hours to learn the system, set-up home screen and shortcuts for steering wheel. Took less than a week to fully adapt after years of touch screen use. Should not be a deal breaker if everything else meets your needs. I looked at the new CRV with touch screen, and other the MPG, the RDX was my clear winner. YMMV 😊

    I took delivery of my 2022 Acura RDX in January 2022 and absolutely love it! I opted for the base (which is impossible to get) because it is by far the best value in this entire segment. It comes loaded with heated seats, heated steering, adaptive cruise, pano sunroof, power lift gate, homelink garage opener and all he safety features (lane keep assist ect...) It has plenty of power with it's 272hp and 280pft. It has class leading passenger and cargo area. The base RDX also is 8-10k cheaper than the similarly spec Lexus NX or Genesis GV70 in Canada. I do wish the touch pad was more like the BMW idrive system. It can get frustrating navigating apple car-play but for what you get it's a small inconvenience for such a well equipped Luxury SUV.

    We have had a RDX for almost 3 years. The infotainment is terrible. It is my wife’s car. A majority of the time (when the CarPlay works) I just pick the music on my phone. That goes the same for navigation. The factory nav is slow and a pain to use. Usually I find the address on my phone before I start driving. The whole center stack needs to be redone. They could easily make that crazy drive mode selector smaller move the screen closer then MAKE IT A TOUCH SCREEN. I think this is way more distracting. However, is is really fun to drive. The BMW X3 M40i is probably the best overall in this segment for performance, size, looks, infotainment system but also costs 25k more. The whole infotainment system, & touch pad is a complete user interface failure. Especially with Car Play. I own a 2019, & the electronics annoy me every time I drive the vehicle. If I wasn't somewhat handy, the infotainment system would have stranded me & killed the battery several times.
    My current preflight checklist is as follows:
    Start the car, turn off both the passenger & driver heated seats, because they turn themselves on, whether you want it or not, turn off the auto restart, turn off everything driver assist, select my instrument panel display preference, put my foot on the brake, push the drive button twice to enter sport shift mode, click the down shift to put it in semi automatic manual mode, look forward to doing it all again, every time I turn the car off. It drives and handles & performs well, but I hate this vehicle. And no digital speedometer on the 2019.
    I put a performance exhaust on, because I hate silent cars with no audible feed back. What it revealed is that the stock mufflers hide the fact that the transmission is severely lugging the engine in a very unhealthy way, that has to be hard on the main bearings, especially in a cold climate. I can't drive the car in a satisfying way, in anything other than semi auto manual shift mode. All the automatic modes either heavily lug the engine, or stupidly rev the engine with no load. And the throttle lags badly before downshifts.
    I would give a limb to have a real throttle cable, & a 6 speed manual in this vehicle. It would be heaven.
