that bass line is the bomb
IMHO POP is the best U2 album ever.
I know that's a very unpopular opinion, but it is how I feel about it. Great rythm, excellent lyrics, exceptional production.
Me too. They tricked everyone into thinking layers of the electric guitar was techno hehe. Please is such a great tune. 😀
Best U2 album? Maybe. Best album ever of any album by any band? Eh.....no.....
This performance was 21 years ago today, and we desperately need to hear some songs from POP on this upcoming tour. POP needs some recognition! It's been 21 years!
With the trilogy achtung baby-zooropa-pop ,u2 conquers a special place in my heart
Emmegi 77 agreed, my top 3 U2 albums , AB POP ZOOROPA, in that order. This sounds great, shame the band have kind of pushed it to one side these days.
Agreed, but the PopMart tour was the biggest piece of shit I ever saw. Their worst production ever, and it was at an outdoor stadium where the sound just went up and out.
@@mk5721 Wish I could have seen it later when the guys got the bugs worked out. Still love a lot of the tracks on the album. Wish they would play a few live again.
POP album is a rare gem. This version proves that. Amazingly powerfull!! I feel loved, do you????
One of my favorite U2 songs... wish they'd play it again
So do I they have reheresed it but it has not made an apoerence yet at the time as you can hear there all having problems edge is playing ok
bono voice is not great and Larry and Adam are totally drowened out
I love this song, both on the album and here. I really can't see how this performance is a flop.. I think its great.. the guitar stopping near the end, then coming and building back. Absolute gold.. wish there was more of this style of U2.
As a pretty hardcore U2 fan, I can safely say that the band's abandonment of the entire "Pop" album over the past 10 years is my biggest disappointment in them.
"Pop" is incredible -it's innovative, daring, a little rough around the edges. I'd take "Pop" over the last two adult contemporary albums any day of the year.
At the very least, they should be playing "Please", "Gone", and "Last Night on Earth" regularly on tours.
I wish "Pop" had gotten the 30th anniversary treatment from the band. Put out a 3 disc version with a remastered version of the original album, a re-recorded/re-imagined version of the album and then a disc of B-sides and live performances (they had a lot of good B-sides during this period, including "Holy Joe" and "North and South of the River"). But of course, they didn't do that.
@@victorli2127 Yeah "Holy Joe" is a great tune. Maybe should have been on the POP album too instead of a b side to Discotheque.
First three songs on that album are a rampage but the energy just fades after that. I like "Gone", "The Playboy Mansion" (a completely perverse spiritual), and "Wake Up Dead Man" but they needed one or two more tunes like those first three.
Listen to this! I was there. There were terrible sand storms all week. It was hot and wind was blowing. THe band was not rehearsed. Despite this. Listen to the lyrics and the emotion, while he still has to direct the band. This is a sexy song.
Do you feel love??????
it's great to be able to see this, because this song didnt last too long on their setlist. Pop is one of my favorite U2 albums. I get angry when writers say that this was a bad period for U2.
back in 1997 this song blew all my senses it is an actual dedication to a lover of mine I think I love the guitar part
I love this song, and the album 'pop' is a brilliant example of u2's ability to innovate, i seen them play this tune live in Leeds roundhey park 1997, one of the best concerts ive ever been to.......Rock On!
I couldnt agree more on your entire post! This song is unbelieveable live. The Bass line is amazing.. But as I always say, this song summarizes why this band is so special. You can clearly see how amazing all four of Bono, adam, larry and edge' roles are. Truly amazing!!!! Whomever posted this song, I thank you so much. I listened to about 100 times already within a week.. amazing...
Great song, great album...been listening to pop album lately...and its growing
Saw this pop mart show live in Atlanta. The Edge was doing that siren thing he does with guitar and it sounded amazing in the stadium. An awesome album for sure (Gone is easily in the top ten U2 tracks) and the last album of U2s best period
Great song and i like the fact that it is slightly unrehearsed it adds a kind of rawness and some nice melodies come out of it.
This is one of favorite U2 songs. It has such strong assocations for me. I think anyone who has been in a long-term relationship can relate to the bittersweetness beneath the surface.
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
U2 IS THE BEST BAND OF THE WORLD of all times
Great song Great álbum, the last masterpiece of the band
Why is this song ignored by u2. It's fantastic! So is Gone.
Pop sans doute est l'un de mes albums préférés, et Do You Feel Loved est aussi une de mes chansons préférées, et je dois avouer qu'en live elle est différente mais vraiment magnifique, c'est à mes yeux un réel trésor.
This is one of the most underrated riff from the Edge
Great Performance by U2 !!!!!!!
This song has always stuck with me
I absolutely love The Edge´s beginning at 0:25 :D
As it says in PoP´s chapter in U2 by U2: Some days are better than others.
Popmart had fantastic moments (Mexico, Chile, Rotterdam) and others not so good (Las Vegas),but they still are the best band in the world.
U2 FOREVER!!! 360 TOUR!!!
Happy POP-Mart Las Vegas Day, Baby !!! 20 years today !!!!!
It sounds much better live. i hope they play more songs from Pop next year.
mdmomof7 Never said it didn't, but I think U2 sound better live than on the records, at least in most cases.
mdmomof7
You're absolutely right !!!! POP is a Masterpiece !!! Love it !!!!
No puedo creer que está canción, "Miami" y "If God will send his Angels" si hayan sido tocadas en vivo!!!
One of my favorites from their most experimental album🅿️🅾️🅿️track is about love, desire, lust..."we took away the❓because it was kind of heavy with it"(Bono)💞🎶🎸🔝
Watch this nearly everyday-its uplifting to say the least!Pure class...
I was at that show, and I was totally digging this song. Too bad they dropped it from their set list after a few shows.
This song is so underrated.
What a bass !!
This song is very special. Its a Bono's confession to his fans.
Sick of the debate about pop or rock!goodMUSIC is good Music, period!!!🎸🎼😎
I was at this show, seriously had the whole audience when they teased with Pride! This song was tight and I was so glad I saw it live, I don't think it made it to many of the other set lists on the rest of the Popmart tour.
allll these years l8r this still does it for me :D
Easily a top 10 U2 track.
its pop all the way for me
Luv luv these guys!!
what great song edges guitar, brill
The orange Adam Clayton's wearing is pimpin' awesome.
If you are listening this in 2022, I love you and you are not alone
So beautiful..
"
take the colours of my imagination
take the scent hanging in the air
take this tangle of a conversation
and turn it into your own prayer
with my fingers as you want them
with my nails under your hide
with my teeth at your back
and my tongue to tell you the sweetest lies "
Interesting performance, in a good way.
U2 grandioso como siempre. viva U2
Of course the songs are so brilliant, that it's hard to believe that they still wanted to polish the end product more. You just don't hear that on the record. A great mutation went with at least 2 song: D.Y.F.L. and Please. Played live they're sooo different. And perhaps even better, at least for me. POP was a phenomenon, and/or a statement, rather then "just" a new U2 album.
Love this song, thanks for posting
Finally! A cameraman who will occasionally focus on the guitar players hands instead of his face!
huge thanks for posting this...very interesting show! As time passed we see how Popmart was great tour and concept. Pop is very underrated...this is good song and pop has 5-6 masterpieces. For example PLEASE is one of u2 finest works...
U2 baby!!! I love Bono, I want his kid lol
I agree I would love for them to do this song on their new tour, most likely they won't but,you never know what extra songs that they'll put in at their concerts!
Great video thanks!
Hard song to play live it looked like but I still love this song.
yeahhhhh U2 U2 U2 U2 U2 U2 U2 U2 U2
THE BEST BAND OF THE WORLD
THE NEW ALBUM by U2 for 2009 MARCH
cool songs
L♡VE THIS CONCERT.ONLY WISH BONO WOULD WEAR T-SHIRTS THESE DAYS🚶♂️😎
If you wear that velvet dress is a great song!!
it changes the feeling in the place you are it isn´t a fucked up song
Great bass !!
Great Song !!!!!
Great sound 👍
Que musica U2!!
great song for ever
still a good song on the cd
GREAT U2 DO YOU FEEL LOVED SONG LIVE FOR LAS VEGAS !!!
Love this song
This was the first show of the Popmart tour...first time played live and only the 4th song of the night.....still working out the kinks....
bring this song back!!. work on it for their new album
Do you feel loved? I do!
What a track ! From a very underestimated all bum
I don’t understand why do you feel loved and if god will send his angels got taken off the setlist. I mean they are very dodgy at this show but they just needed some work. I mean by the time they got to Mexico city songs like mofo, discotheque, and gone were perfected and I’m sure DYFL and IGWSHA would have been amazing if they were given more time.
I saw the tour in Oakland in June and they played If God Will Send His Angels. I thought it sounded perfect. Although this rendition of Do You Feel Loved is a bit underwhelming.
unas demis favorite song best band u2
i know from what i've read that this was a tough gig for u2, first night of pop mart and lots of stuff went wrong plus i don't think the yanks knew what to make of the pop stuff.
but as someone who plays gigs its comforting to see the big boys also struggle from time to time
Геніальна пісня!!!
Bono's voice is still epic here. Unfortunately he continued smoking which hurt his voice. Amazing times.
And there was more to it than smoking, although the smoking was awful. A couple years later he had to undergo nasal/vocal surgery, and those issues that necessitated surgery were showing for Pop. He still struggles often with vocals through today as a result of smoking, over singing, frequent laryngitis, and undoubtedly the after effects of the surgery.
a musica se lembra muito city of blinding lights, no quesito guitarra.
Loved seeing this that night in March 1997 in Vegas. Sorry they dropped it from the set so soon after. Some songs they just never "figure out" live - the greatest tragedy being "Acrobat", but also "Red Hill Mining Town" and others.
its time to u2 re-think to deliver this on ths tour
yes I feel love Bono
excellent underrated song off great album. First time ive heard it live ace!
everything that could go wrong did go wrong during this gig, but you know something? I love it! I'd rather attend it than any 360 tour concert and I don't care how many thumbs down I get for saying that
too right, the best song on the album, why they played the last nite on earth over this was a fuckin disaster. the tune will return its too good to die, remember how the unforgetable fire came back 20 years later. so will this.
Gran canción. Es el peor recital de la gira POPMART pero las canciones tienen una aire fragil y vergonzante, algo que la hace atractivas y, en parte, emotivas. POP es un disco que será reivindicado con el paso del tiempo. No tengo dudas.
Wouldn't it be nice if they polish down some of the Popmart songs properly, and play them on the next tour? I'd love to see this, Mofo and Last Night on Earth in any U2 set.
I think for them attempting to play some songs from POP today is a huge trauma, they were sooo complicated and often misunderstood. And because today POP songs would mutate into something totally different than version heard on the album. You all have to remember that they were unpolished, maybe even "not completed" in a way they wanted them to be.
they need the heavy distorted guitar riff over the top over the verse and intro to make it work.. not just the melodic one line Edged played here.
Suuuuuuuupppppppppeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr crazy crazy crazy crazy crazy crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I´m Czech
@apejens44 Iagree with you but "No Line on the Horizon" stands right up there with Joshua and Achtung. 2o years since Achtung Baby and they have found the sound we expect. Bono's lyrics and word play are some of his best. I think Zooropa was put out to quickly on the heels of Achtung Baby when they were in huge demand. They were never snobs about their fame, very down to earth and I love that.
class
very sugestive
love BONO Singing this song on live
sorry for mi inglish
love u2 so much
YEAH INTO DE GROOVE...
Yeah
3:34 AMEN!
Toptrack
Buena canción. Lástima que quedara al margen del repertorio de U2.
That's because this was the opening show of the tour....they had never played it live before a crowd before this.
dear god
'POP' is completely underrated. It's an awsome album with some real gems. Like this one!
studio version is good, but this is awful.
This
Yes, but in the USA, people did not get it
Pop isn’t underrated when it went nunber 1?
it is by far their best album imo
