This was a no-brainer. I want to learn if there is an app that I can use voice to text instead of just quick messages that make no sense to anyone.
John Stryker Hey John. To get the text feature to work on an iPhone, make sure on your phone to push the blue "i" button next to the name "Toyota Camry" or whatever car you have....then it will open a new screen....push "show notifications" button to ON.....then, on the car screen, push the envelope text button on the top right of the screen.....and then click "ok"....they should work then.
+Toyotajeff I wonder if this option was taken away by Apple.... We don't have the "show notifications" option when clicking the blue "i".. I also don't get prompted for the "allow access to messages" when pairing with my Android, I only get the contacts and phone permission request.. It almost feels like the Entune is not requesting the permission from either the iphone or the Android.. Very frustrating..

I found that I had to delete a prior connection in order to add my phone again, even though that it appeared in the view box. What happened to me was that a verizon tech had rebooted my net work connection at the store. Little did I know that it also trip the connection to my car even though my phone was showing up as there in the viewer. So like I said, I deleted a prior connection, not my old one and added my phone again and it worked.

Hello again John. I meant to say I have an Entune system in my 2013 Toyota sienna. When I pair my success with that system the alerts indicating I have a new text are muted for some reason . I have tried various changes in settings without success. Do you have any suggestions to fix this?

Hi john. I have a 2013 Toyota sienna with an interim system. When I connect my iPhone 6 the signals or tones for incoming messages is muted for some reason. Any suggestions for a cure?

Jeff, Do you know how to stop the display flashing when streaming audio on my iPhone connected via Bluetooth. The car display just flashed which is annoying, distracting and potentially dangerous! I have a 2015 RAV4 LE but the menus look identical to yours. It doesn't flash when playing audio from the music app but it does if you are streaming with Tunein radio, say. It also doesn't flash when using the USB connection instead of Bluetooth. I called Toyota support but they had no idea!

how do you set up custom REPLIES as in "I am no my way home, stopping to get milk" or basically just respond to the message by talking whatever you want . I see the quick reply's with the standard messages......those are good, but limited.

Hi Toyotajeff! I have a question about my 2015 RAV4 and Android. When I had a Samsung 5, the text messaging was great, but after I got a Samsung 7, my RAV4 started reading the extra information (like the date and time) before reading the actual message. Do you know how I can fix this so I'm not sitting through all the "header" information before I get to hear the actual message? Thanks!!
Toyota Jeff, Here's my dilemna. I have a 2019 Highlander (since April) in the past month I've had trouble with the Navigation system turning off while I'm driving. When it turns on I have to re-pair my iphone 8 each time. Used to only happen a few times a week now it's a few times a drive. If I turn off my bluetooth the navigation stays on. I paired an older iphone to the car and it didn't happen. Had the car to Toyota and they did an update and say they don't know why the nav system is turning off. Today I got an iphone 11...I was due for one anyway...It happened within 5 minutes of me driving away from the AT&T store. It makes no sense. The messages also are not being read and I have the notifications turned on. this is all so frustrating. I unpaired the phones...did a soft reset of the nav system etc etc. Help???

Hmmm not working with my iPhone 6. Calls and music are fine but messaging not coming through.
If you are seeing the messages but only the ability to ignore messages and not read them you probably need a software update.I tried everything here and it didn’t work,2016 Head Tundra with 2015 Maps ,iPhone 7.I updated to 2018 maps (86271-E071) and not only did the iMessages finally read but Slacker Radio finally plays without interruption.Slacker used to play 3-4 songs then stop and go into “preparing mode” or something like that.The map updates are more than maps but software as well.After updating myself I had to play with a couple of things because the beep from backup sensors stopped.Went though some of the volume settings and it works again,unfortunately there isn’t any setting for the backup along,the update just needed a push here and there to get everything working again.If you are in doubt changing things yourself go to a dealer.Also my backup sensors were recalled and replaced so this might have caused the me needed playing around with settings.
My phone is a Samsung note10. It intermittently goes from being able to read the text message with the options read, ignore and call. All of which are lit up. But then it goes to having the read blacked out and I hit the message button, it asks to set up messaging. It's connected to the phone with calls and audio. Then it'll be fine after I power cycle.
I'm also having the audio not pop up the browse feature to select my favorite songs. It used to work with Google play music, but they shut down for some stupid reason. I get a text message and play it (when it wants to work right) and won't resume the song or video. What's going on?
I need a video that shows how to read texts message in your car and ignore them as well but in the same video I need the video by Tuesday July 25 2017 if you can.

John, I have a Samsung S7 Android which has text message and 2 email accounts. It will pair and show my texts but only one of the email accounts. The manual doesn't explain it but does shows a picture >>> "SMS EMAIL 1 EMAIL2", so I assume it can be done. I've experimented by placing both accounts into one phone app and on separate apps. Nothing works. BTW, my local dealer can't figure it out either. Can you help? Brent
Well, I now have an iPhone and it's worse! I can get text message notifications but can't read them. Only option it gives me is "Ignore". Emails? forget it. Doesn't work at all. Wish I would have never switched from the android.

I just purchased a new IPhone X and text messaging through my Vehicle no longer works. I have everything paired up. I can talk handsfree and listen to my iTunes music etc. via Vehicle. Messages worked fine when we initially purchased the 4Runner. What has happened and HOW do we obtain this capability again? Please help!

do i need to download the Entune app ?
Paul Wagner Hi Paul, you only have to download the Entune app if you have one of the navigation Entune systems. This will give you access to some smartphone apps like iHeartRadion and Pandora, among other apps. Actually, to get the text message feature, you wouldn't need to download Entune at all. It should come up when you pair your phone either with iPhone or Droids.
On my iPhone 6 I can receive messages but cannot create a new one.
sistagirl iPhone can receive the voice text messages but it won't let you create one or send a quick text message back. Android systems will let you send one back as well. One of the ways Droids are better :)
