Well, Taiwan is a little different.
You were once part of China, but when the Communists won the war for the Capital City, those who opposed them dug in and "barricaded" in Taiwan.
They planned when the Communist regime ended, they would return to being part of the whole.
But, I though that is still your plan?
Are the people of Taiwan no longer wanting to return to being part of China, when China end its Communism?

I have been learning your language ever since I met a wonderful Ukrainian girl last autumn. We only walked together for a half hour on the beach and parted company, never to meet again. She was returning home to Ukraine. But I'll always remember her and she has unknowingly inspired me to learn and love your Ukrainian language music and culture. I hope she is OK.

The European Union, the U.S., and other Western nations have cut off Russian banks from the SWIFT international payments system! In other words, this is a huge economic sanction that will have a big impact on the Russian economy. So, Russia will not be able to afford this war for a long time.
Besides, people around the world gathered in a peaceful demonstration against this cowardly and unjust Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

Inna, I just found you today. I too like in Kherson, as a foreigner, and have been there for the past 6 years. I happened to be in America when Russia invades. People from around the world are praying specifically for Kherson. Be strong. Keep going. We will not give up either. Thanks for the Ukrainian lessons. I have been fluent in Russian for 20 years, when it was the more prominent language, but have been wanting and needing to learn Ukrainian for a long time. I live in the USA. Even though we don't agree all the time about many things, I haven't talked to anyone that thinks this war is just your problem. Conservatives, liberals, republican democrat, we are all taking this seriously. Many of us thought Putin would invade earlier. We had a good idea that the buildup was not a "training exercise". I was really surprised he waited until the Olympics were over.
Many of us also greatly underestimated the Ukrainian people. Many of us thought that Putin would seize Kyiv within a week. I know people from several countries, but not from Ukraine. Thanks to channels like yours, many of us are learning about people in Ukraine. Also, I'm learning a little about people in Russia and Belarus. I see more in common than I see differences. People want to live, work, take care of their families. Everyone is sickened by this war. But no one can truly understand your position, except that we would fight for our homes too. We hear your determination, see it in your face. People are trying to help. Our church is collecting money for your country. Ukrainians have earned lots of respect. I hope we can make a difference. In the UK I don't know anyone that isn't supporting you and praying for you. We petition our government to do more and donate to the relief and humanitarian effort. Thank you for being such a great teacher, Inna. God’s blessing to you, your friends, and your husband. Please know that the majority of Americans believe that we should be deeply involved in defending Ukraine, and we are disgusted with our current administration which stands by and does nothing, even though they correctly predicted the invasion for weeks! If I was 18, I would get a flight to Ukraine, grab a rifle, and fight in the streets. Since I cannot (yet) I will settle for organizing as many fellow countrymen as possible to put pressure on our government to do something. Just as we defeated an impossible enemy in our own war for independence, I truly believe you will do the same. It can be done!
I found a small Etsy shop in Mariupol. Contacted the owner and she has fled to Lviv, but has family still trapped in Mariupol without food, water, electricity, or any way to communicate. She does not even know if they are alive 😔 I’m sending her funds for food and groceries every week. People of the world fortunate enough to have a steady job in a peaceful country must reach out and do what they can to help someone in this time of need. There are millions of regular people who have had everything taken from them overnight, now they have no home, no job, many have lost loved ones, and at no fault of their own. But there are many more millions who can reach out their hand right now to help. If you’re reading this, please, reach out your hand. Someone out there is desperate to grab it.
