Yet despite of the years of wanting to kill him, he discovered that his own mother (or rather her Devil Gene side) plotted to kill them both. If Hehaichi didn't betray him, then his mother would've. Kazuya's descent into fighting blood vs blood was inevitable and unavoidable. Knowing this and by the time he killed his greatest enemy, I could only theorize Kazuya would be sad that he was no one worthy enough left to fight him. Jin may have his own desire to kill his father, but Kazuya dosen't hold his son in the same regard as Hehaichi. To him Jin was just another random opponent in his way, but Hehaichi was his strongest reason for fighting. Without Hehaichi to hate, Kazuya's victory could be overshadowed how much he misses fighting with his father and that despite being his most hated enemy, he was also his most worthy opponent.

Often people argue whether heihachi is good or evil, and i think his character arc was done so masterfully that it makes sense for people to not understand how many layers of complexity there was to that final fight in the volcano.
heihachi is a mixture of good and evil... he was always destined to be a great and powerful demigod, wielding lightning, and despite all that power, he married a human woman that he loved more than anything, a sparring partner and a love partner, and the weight of realizing that, his love was a demon who was sent to kill him for who he is, was too much to bear for him, and it was amplified by the fact that when he beat her, he turned his back to her, hoping that she would snap out of it like the last time, but also knowing that it will not happen, and when he snapped her neck with his own hands. that's when he lost his capacity for love completely.
when he fought kazuya, a mere child, kicking him down to the ground repeatedly, it wasn't because he wanted to dispel the devil out of him, it was because he was hurt by his love who turned out to be a devil that came to kill him, and he saw kazuya as her off spring, that he could somehow exact revenge on her, by hurting the little boy. and when he dropped kazuya into the lava, he also did so to exact revenge on Kazumi. but in order to ease his own consciousness, he made the excuse that he was cruel to kazuya and dropped him into the lava because he thought kazuya had the devil's blood and he had to make sure by dropping him into the lava. and that's what he told the reporter when he asked heihachi, but right after that he said something else, that made no sense to the reporter, leaving him confused, he said: "there's only one thing left for me to do: reveal the truth and be judged", why did he feel the need to be judged if his cause was already just ? because deep down he knew that this excuse does not hold up against his own consciousness and in order to find peace, he must face kazuya to either prove himself right, or be judged for what he did to him.
their fight on the volcano started off as a battle between two men, but heihachi's victorious smile as he walked towards kazuya after head butting him down to the ground, caused kazuya's pain to manifest itself and bring out a snippet of the devil out of him, making him strong enough to beat down heihachi, but then heihachi mustered enough strength to get up and fight back, frustrating kazuya, until he revealed his true form, the devil kazuya, and then Heihachi literally says: "this is what i was waiting for" insinuating that he was right all along, and kazuya is truly a devil, and he was right in trying to kill him and so he must not have remorse. he even gets beaten up when kazuya unleashes his full power on him, but he gets back up, with little power left in his body, and succeeds to beat the kazuya, in his true devil form.
and when kazuya is thrown at a rock and then he comes out of the fog, he is a human once again, battered and bitter, and then, heihachi mockingly says: "still alive ?", which has more emotion behind it than he is willing to let out, stunned at the fact that when the devil is cast out of kazuya, he is still able to walk and fight, because if the devil is what that truly drives him, shouldn't it be that he would not have the will to fight anymore as the devil is beaten ? then, the doubt starts to kick in, this time no more upper hands for either fighter, both taste each other's fists and both are battered and bruised and yet they use any and all of their martial arts techniques to bring the other down. and yet in the end, it is heihachi's Godly power, his lightning, his virtue, his righteousness that hits kazuya, and now it is kazuya who is doubtful, no more smirk on his face, now he is truly hurt and angry, and he looks up at heihachi, standing tall and victorious, and that's when his memories come up, seeing heihachi as his youngerself, kicking kazuya down, his own son, and then he reminisces in the memories of the past, of his father constantly being cruel to him, punching him down to make himself feel strong and righteous, murdering his mother, and his deep hatred for his own son, and in the flash of a second, he channels all that power, to let out a devastating punch into heihachi's chest.
this fight was never about power or supremacy, those were afterthoughts in both men's minds. it was about which one was truly just in this sad saga of betrayal and hatred. and at the end, at the very last round, the man who can dig just a little deeper inside, finding that fight ending power, is the man who is the righteous one, despite his evil visage, kazuya, was a son who was betrayed by his selfish father, heihachi had done the most evil thing, and betrayed the most sacred of oaths, the oath of a father to his son, to protect him, to raise him and to give him opportunities in life. and Heihachi's excuse was always that his son shared the devil's blood, and as such it warranted his cruel behavior towards him, to never even try to raise him right. but in truth, he hurt the child, because he was hurt by his own love, and because he could not exact revenge on her, he took out that anger and rage on the fruit of that love, on kazuya.
when that final punch landed on heihachi, he was stunned, confused at what had summoned such power from kazuya. wasn't it him that was the righteous one all along, or did he actually believe his own excuse to the point that he had forgotten his evil deed ? he came here to "reveal the truth and be judged" and now that the judgement has come, it was him whose heart was pierced by the power of justice, why was that ? as these thoughts were scrambling around in heihachi's head, kazuya, who was in a crouching position as he punched heihachi, looked *up* to him, just a like a son would look up to his father, and when heihachi saw Kazuya's face, not a devil's face, but his own son, looking at him with anger and hatred, with conviction and righteousness, then and only then, did he realize that, he was indeed judged, and he was found guilty... of being cruel to his son, to have committed the greatest of evils, one that is even bigger than whatever the devil inside his son had ever done: he betrayed his own child. and so finally, facing such righteousness, he lost the will to fight and fell into the ground, defeated, guilty, lifeless... justice was finally served.
heihachi faced kazuya at his strongest, in his pure devil form, and he still did not lose the resolve to fight, because at that point he still felt righteous, but it was only after he realized that it was quite the contrary, by looking at his son's face and seeing his righteous fury, that he was unable to stand on his feet and lost the will to fight, to live, to look at his son in the eyes !

I just noticed something. If you listen to the OST during this scene, you'll noticed that this song is Kazumi's theme. Using her theme for this part of the fight is beutifully well thought out of because it's the game essentially telling you that she is what started all the hate and bloodlust...
Had she not tried to kill Heihachi, he would've never thrown Kazuya of a cliff, thus avoiding making Kazuya an evil man he is today..... But because she tried to kill Heihachi due to her clan existing solely to kill those with evil intent, she, in turn, basically is the catalist that started EVERYTHING in Tekken.
    What a hellava final fight.

I think the moment before that one final punch was actually Kazuya being free of the Devil’s influence for the moment. You can see the bitter rage in his eyes. Not the destructive kind, but the tragic abused kind. There’s also a sense of closure on his face when he looks at Heihachi’s body.

Kazuya's actions are completely justified in the case of situations concerning Heihachi himself. Heihachi purposely abused Kazuya physically, mentally, and emotionally long before he suspected the Devil Gene within Kazuya. Heihachi killed Jinpachi who was extremely close to Kazuya for literally no reason at all, Killed Kazumi, and Killed Kazuya twice. Heihachi adopted Lee to spite Kazuya and to rival and surpass Kazuya, raised Jin into adulthood to later blow his head off in Tekken 3. Heihachi very much deserved his death, Jinpachi and Kazumi questioned Heihachi's obsession for power which led to them both being killed in the first place. That's why Kazumi wanted Akuma to kill both Heihachi and Kazuya, because the cycle of hatred within the Machimas was re-emerging within Heihachi being passed down to Kazuya. Jinpachi broke the Machima hatred cycle by loving both Heihachi and Kazuya, which explains why Kazumi didnt bother to want Jinpachi dead when he was alive. Everything stems from Heihachi and has to end with Jin, after Jin dies the hatred cycle and Machima bloodline dies......

      Pre Tekken 1
●Young Heihachi vs Kid Kazuya=Kazuya gets understandably spanked
      Tekken 1
●Heihachi vs Kazuya=Implied draw if in favor of Heihachi who had slacked off according to the Tekken 2 manual
●Excausted Heihachi vs Devil Power Kazuya= Kazuya destroys him.Its said he threw his BROKEN body off the cliff. And yes its confirmed he did use the devil gene but didn't really transform, probably just had a purple aura.
      Tekken 2
●Heihachi vs Kazuya=Kazuya gets owned easily.Reverse, this time kazuya was being a mob boss while Hei trained his ass off and nearly reached his 31 age level of power again
●Heihachi vs Pre Split Devil Kazuya(Weakened by Angel and Kazuyas inner conflict)=Heihachi probably only barely won, maybe he got stomped till Kazuya lost the form and only then Hei finished him off
      ●Tekken 4
Heihachi vs Kazuya=Heihachi won but neither of them cared as it was sport in front of the crowd, not a death battle.Heihachi needed Kazuya alive and Kazuya was more focused on getting to Jin.Yes it's officially confirmed Heihachi won, don't argue.
      Tekken 7
●Heihachi vs Kazuya=Heihachi wins in a very close fight
●Heihachi vs Devil Gene&Devil Eye Power Kazuya=Kazuya dominates but is unable to knock him out like in Tekken 1
●Awakened Heihachi vs True Devil Kazuya=Kazuya wins
●Enraged Awakened Heihachi vs True Devil Kazuya= Heihachi kinda wins but i don't believe he was stronger. Both lost their forms at the same time and Heihachi was beyond desperate, plus more skilled and experienced.
●Excausted Heihachi vs Excausted Kazuya= Kazuya wins
Being younger he will win a fight of who's more tired ofcourse.
Overall.Normal adult Kazuya was at his weakest in Tekken 4 and at his strongest in Tekken 1.In his devil form obviously in TK7.Heihachi was at his weakest in Base form in Tekken 7 and at his strongest after powering up for a second time and reverting TD Kazuya into his base.

For those considering heihachi a sympathetic / tragic character , then let's not just talk about his family , intead someone explain to me his crimes towards other characters ; why did he try to kill jin ? why did he kill michelle 's parents ? why did he send a hitman after steve when he discovered his origins (see his epilogue in TK4) and why did he conceive lars in the 1st place ??! now back to his family : he is basically the main reason kazuya is the way he is
what saddens even more is that kazuya will now pay for his (heihachi) actions more than his own when confronts jin and possibly jun (and the entire world) in TK8 , and on that note im looking forward to some truths and reveals regarding jin's birth and jun's motives as well

Heihachi is not a tragic hero, but I do think he is in a way just like Kazuya a tragic villain. As you mentioned he's committed to many atrocities and crimes that are inexcusable to be considered a hero. But it is tragic in regards to because of one key event in his life ultimately lead to his undoing. Because of what happened with Kazumi, he ultimately created a monster out of Kazuya who would go on to become worse than his father ever was. What often meets his destiny on the road they take to prevent it. It's a full circle and Kazuya ultimately defeats Heihachi with his own philosophy: A fight is about who's left standing. Nothing else.
And in the end Kazuya was the one left standing.

Anthony Doc Kazuya actually lost to Heihachi in Tekken 4,this is confirmed later on in Tekken 5,if Kazuya had won he would have been the leader of the Zaibatsu. It's a common misconception.Kazuya in Tekken 1 won because Heihachi underestimated him and had negleted his training due to being busy with the Zaibatsu,in Tekken 2 Devil Kazuya should have won but he was weakened by Angel and he had a mental conflict with Angel and Kazuya. In Tekken 7 Kazuya puts up a good fight but loses them he transforms and forces Heihachi to use that bullshit plot armor power up.Heihachi has always been stronger than Kazuya, not Devil Kazuya though.

    • @syzorst
      @syzorst Před 7 lety +43

Uto Resa 519 No dude Kazuya made it clear that he only wanted to know where Jin was. The Mishima Zaibatsu wasn't on his mind and even in his prologue it was stated that he wanted to control the Devil Gene so he could destroy the Mishima Zaibatsu. In order to do that he needed his full power (aka Jin). Kazuya losing half of the Devil Gene only weakened his devil powers not his overall base strength in martial arts. Kazuya beat Heihachi in Tekken 4 since his goal was to find Jin so he can absorb Jin power and be whole again.
In Tekken 1 Kazuya beat Heihachi straight up. Heihachi did not underestimate him at all since he knew Kazuya hated him with a passion. On top of that the reason he started the tournament was to test his own abilities. You think Heihachi would start a martial arts tournament without practicing first? Heihachi is arrogant but not stupid.
And it just as you said in Tekken 2. Kazuya should have and could have won but only lost do to the conflict he had within himself. In other words Heihachi only beat him because of a handicap.
In Tekken 7 we Kazuya knocking constantly knocking Heihachi down but Heihachi constantly getting back up only irritated Kazuya showing he had the upper hand. The way I see it Heihachi is physically stronger than base Kazuya but slower than he is.

At that point, I started having flashbacks from the time me and my family played Tekken from the PS1 trilogy, to Tag Tournament(which brought back my memories of 2 and 3, since most of the fighters that debuted in 3, as well as the fighters that were in 2, but were nowhere to be found in the third game's roster were in Tag), Advance(which was the first time that I've played ANY form of a fighting game), 4, 5, and 6. Despite Heihachi wasn't in his best fighting shape, when he fought Kazuya in T1, T4, Jin in T4 and Lars in T6, which leaded to his loss in these battles, everyone can agree, that Heihachi gave his best in this final fight with Kazuya T7. It is so amazing, Heihachi is clearly at his peak of strenght and he gives such a hard, hell and brutal bout to his son. Even if many people weren't vote for Heihachi in previous parts, during this game you will clearly adore Heihachi's bravery, spirit and much more dangerous and upgrading skills. Even after this game you will want to play as him in previous games, just like me. Maybe Tekken 7 wasn't good enough in stories of non-Mishima characters, but this storyline of father-son -rivarly was done so brilliant and detailed. It makes the great end of big conflict between such a great characters, you can even feel the T1, T2, T4 dark atmosphere in this episode. Despite some other storylines were silly, this final chapter of conflict reached the dark vibes, which you saw last in Tekken 4. Thanks for the Namco for the great ending of a great story, you have done your job perfectly at this area.

K' Dash02 Dude you are slightly wrong. In chapter 13 Heihachi says "When Kazuya was born, we were overjoyed" Heihachi loved Kazuya but hated him ever since he knew about the Devil Gene. He had no problems with Jin initially in Tekken3 but he decided to kill him when showed signs of the Devil Gene. Heihachi didn't abused Kazuya in anyway before discovering the Devil Gene. the whole "My son is weak" was just a cover up for the real reason. Heihacho hates the Devil Gene because it took everything from him. He is just a sorrowful broken old man. He was actually a loving husband. When he killed his wife in self-defence he became more coldblooded thus he locked Jinpachi under Honmaru, Threw Kazuya off a cliff and betrayed Jin. I'm not saying he is the good gut but he was fighting to remove Devil Gene from the world. For more proof, watch Kazuya's T2 ending. Heihachi protects Kazuya from the Devil in it. He is more like an Anti-Villian

aligamerable Not to mention Kazumi only married Heihachi bc of her family/clan wanting to kill him or something like that.

K' Dash02 if he was really evil, Jun wouldn't have told Jin to find him if something happened to her. Chances are Jun can sense just like Jin and Kazuya can. Hell, I'd even be willing to bet that Jun KNEW of everything Heihachi did and confronted him about it, and found he had his reasons.

I get some powerful Hokuto no Ken vibes from this fight. These larger than life men beating the ever-loving shit out of each. Feels like a "manly tears were shed" moment.

I love the throwback to Kazuyas 10-hit. I was a kid playing Tekken 2 learning 10 hits because juggling wasnt a thing then!

Heihachi is such a beast. A man in his 70's, no devil gene and still is almost unbeatable. It took everything kazuya had to finally defeat him once and for all
