7.7 is super low? Interesting...let's fact check that little theory of yours, shall we?

Hmmmmmm....according to the Scoring System Guide, a 7.7 is a little above the middle of "Really Good", just as I explained in the video. Translation: It's a REALLY GOOD song in my opinion....just like I said several times in the video.
A "super low" score, according to the Scoring System Chart, would be down in the 0.0 - 1.9 range. So your assessment is inaccurate, biased, and false. Get your facts straight and in check before you decide to come at me, otherwise I'll make you look foolish like I did just now. Enjoy being pinned.
@@THEDavidHeretic love what you do. I think you are extremely educated in music which makes your opinion very meaningful but to me I think its a great tune especially after load, reload and St. Anger.
@@THEDavidHeretic love your honesty keep doing you
Death Magnetic and Hardwired are great albums in my opinion.
I agree
And Beyond Magnetic even know it's an EP but its still a Good album
Ditto. Both get back to the roots, are both mixed INCREDIBLY well, and that’s what fans are hungry for.
Spit Out The Bone.... I nearly teared up first time I heard it. Like, omg, there is the Metallica ive been looking for!
Already in the que, added your name to the requesters
@@THEDavidHeretic I just subscribed, I liked the way you introduced your history of Metallica fandom and cliff appreciation
Cliff is my main guy, my biggest influence on my playing honestly. Taken way too soon from this world. Welcome to The Fanbase, glad to have you among us.
@@THEDavidHeretic Waiting for it man!
It really is pretty good. And I hear they're writing again.
Yeah James isn’t 23 anymore, he’s in his 50s.
I love Load and Reload.
I love them, too. I love all their albums to be honest.
the next reaction should be spit out the bone. that song is brutal man
Just listened for the first time. Great recommendation thank you
Agreed. When I heard Spit out the bone the first time my jaw dropped. It’s not just the best song on Hardwired, it’s one of Metallica’s best songs ever imo. It’s got it all. That melodic part in the middle is an epic moment in a song.
Metallica returned to a much heavier thrash sound with Death Magnetic and has stuck with it since. None of their old school fans really liked the Load-era sound, but I think you'd like what they've done over their last few records.
Yeah Load and Reload were an “artsie-fartsie” phase the band had to get out of their system…along with the drugs (may have played a part in the quality). There are only a few songs on those I liked. They were boring albums, with boring sound, and no energy. Ronnie is one I absolutely dig simply because it’s so different and unique, but I wouldn’t miss much else off those two. Of course they never play that one live. I look at St Anger as an experimental sound album. It was incredibly unique sound, but too much too soon…especially that $&?!@ snare. The last two albums have been really good.
My oldest son was 4 when Death Magnetic came out. He had to hear this song over and over. He would head bang and jump around every where. This song gives me great memories.
Actually you can hear this thicc bass all over this song...and I love Cliff but nobody can tell me he could play as fast as Rob and he definitely can keep up with James
Hey, man! Please react to Metallica “spit out the bone” off their latest album. If you want old school thrash, this is a face melter. I recommended not watching the music video though as it’s very distracting and takes away from the music. There’s some great lyric videos instead
Thanks man. I would recommend you "Spit Out The Bone" from latest album, or "That was just your life" from Death Magnetic, or instrumental "Suicide & Redemption" from Death Magnetic
I re-watch this regularly because it is so sweet and amazing to watch old memories come back
The Day That Never Comes and My Apocalypse are also really great songs from Death Magnetic. There's other good songs on that album but those are the best imo.
Exactly and Day That Never Comes is like a modern version of One while My Apocalypse is like a modern Dyers Eve very good stuff 👍👍
Hi David,
Very cool reaction! You are in for a treat dude. Metallica have soooo many new super good songs. And a lot of loyal fans. If you start to do some more Metallica songs often, your channel will grow fast. :)
Another guy in the comments mentioned that you should do Spit out the bone. I can not agree more. You will for sure love that song. If you can do all the songs from the latest album Hard Wired to Self Destruct, I will owe you big time.
Have a nice day!
You nailed it! They don’t need to be “hungry” anymore. It’s certainly no disrespect at all, but you can feel it. They are still top rate musicians for sure, but they already “made it”. Still love this band after 35 years!!
Great song too!!!!!
Fantastic song. Great album. Broken beat and Scarred and The day that Never comes and suicide and redemption are also Fantastic
The only thing that I hate about this song and all of Death Magnetic alum was the horrible production in the mastering levels! It has FAR too much compression to the point that the retail album is not listenable for me as I truly get a headache at high volume after only 3 songs! No fidelity as it was all clipped-out... This album is the reason why whenever I record/edit/mix and master my band's songs, I do it all at -4db at all times so as to NOT clip it to HELL like DM did! I never bought this album, it is the ONLY album and singles of theirs I did not buy on CD!! It was that badly done. The songs are 2/3 decent - 1/3 filler crap. But that loudness-war ending clippage was unbearable! The Guitar Hero3 version of this album has NO such clipping as the stems were sent to the game developers before the final mastering so it was not totally ruined, only slightly peaking at 0db with minor clipping. The retail version was just a wall of noise when you look at the waveform and it can be heard with ease! When I heard The Day That Never Comes on the radio at first, I thought it was a demo version it sounded so bad. But nope, that is the entire retail CD! lol The demo version of this album are far better than the end retail version in both production (no clipping) plus I personally prefer the original lyrics, extra length and slightly different riffs on most of the songs vs the retail CD. It is called *Demo Magnetic* if you wish to look it up!
My all time favorite is Damage Inc. And I love this out of their last couple of albums. Aaaalmost like a damage inc 2.
Ride the lightning is my favorite as well out of the first 4 albums too. 🇨🇦🍾 cheers from Canada
This song is just as good as any of their stuff from the 80’s
Great review though man, I really enjoyed your video.
Listen to their Ronnie Rising medley as a tribute to Ronnie James Dio! Its a bunch of Rainbow songs together. Love it!
It rules.
Sensational cover, although could’ve just been the last two songs.
That is one of my all time favorite Metallica songs. It crushes. It’s creative and complex. I agree it doesn’t have the “melodic” harmonies of past old school Metallica, but it probably wouldn’t work in “this” particular song. They still get after it in others on this album, and especially in Hardwired. Great song. And that video is amazing.
This is my favorite track on the album. 🤘
Since this was not a video I could just listen while doing something else. I really have to agree with you here. I liked the song all the way to the end.
After the last videos I've seen with them I think I should skip the live performances for a while. Feels like that they don't add much to the songs. Music really doesn't have to be seen to be good.
It's interesting that you and I agree on Ride the Lightning as favorite album but I would give this song 8.9. I think after your 3rd time listening with no pauses you'll raise your score. If not, it's cool. We just have a different feel of the song. Appreciate the review!
Kirk Hammet plays the wah pedal with guitar effects
This song sounds like practice for the hardwired album, which improves on it in all aspects
You mentioned Cliff era Metallica and there’s a connection in this song to that era besides the music. The lyrics of this are inspired by HP Lovecraft, who also inspired their RTL instrumental, “Call of Chthulu” and the MOP song, “The Thing That Should Not Be”. The book was called The Hounds of Tindalos.
Hi David, great fan of your reviews! Previously this I watched Spit out the bone and Hardwired videos.
Continuing this album, please react to My Apocalypse, great song too!
Already in the que, added your name to the requesters.
this song' is great and really really fun to coverr on drums !!
I stopped hearing Metallica around St. Anger but I did see the Some Kind of Monster doc and it was great. I was in junior high and Death Magnetic came out. I was like "Whatever," then I got a copy of Guitar World magazine and this song was tabbed and I took a look at it and then I became interested. Death Magnetic brought me back to Metallica. I'm happy I didn't shun it
This is an all time top 20 Metallica song! Great song!
Glad you were surprised and I could bring you back to Metallica a little bit. I understand not liking the Load/Reload era but you need to listen to some of the newer stuff. Don't get me wrong, St. Anger was shit, but they do have some good stuff left in them.
Great job recommending this one.
Metallica doesn’t block reactions.
bravo fantastico !
I am Metallica Fan since 1986, when i start listening Clif was dead and i feel sorry for that ! Cause i was listen first kill em all and live i can see Clif and then i read that was dead and for me it a shock, then he was one of the best and a very close friend from James ! I miss him ! Greatings from germany ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
death magnetic is a really solid album musically. however it does have some mix/production issues that bring down the overall experience. not as severe as the ajfa like completely missing bass, but it has a lot of what sounds to me to be clipping issues and something about the mix itself just sounds...off. its hard for me to describe but if you give the album a chance one day im sure youll understand what im talking about. but there are some really killer songs on this album for sure. im sure theres a song here or there you might not like but overall i really like this album. the load/reload/st anger albums are the only ones i dont really revisit very often. all the others are a mainstay in my playlists. their newest album hardwired is a solid album as well. not as good as death magnetic imo, but there are definitely some great songs on it as well. i saw youve done spit out the bone already, which is hands down the best track on that album, and quite possibly their best since ajfa. but there are still some other great songs from that album as well. but overall its a weaker album than death magnetic imo.
I'm pooped after hearing this, I can't imagine playing that fast for soo long.. FABULOUS
How the fook did it take u so long to dig the song its fucking unreal mate from start to finish
My Apocalypse is a good fast song from Death Magnetic if you haven't heard that one it's a litter Dyers Eve feel to me mixed with a Slayer sound very solid 👍🎶🤘
7.7
And yesterday you gave 8.9 to a death magnetic song.
I always knew you'd go crazy with that album
And to think that this song came to be because Rob played flamenco one day on the acoustic...
David, you should do a full album review of death magnetic and hardwired to self destruct.
I'd rewatch all the songs. Please please please please do ir
Given the long history they had to change up on the Black album. James blew out his voice on Justice era around 93 to 94 and black album was him learning how to sing properly and not damage and also heal up and strengthen his vocals. They kept going through a lot of shit which would have torn apart a lot of bands. I love their music on a lot of their albums and was never a thrash fan as I listen to songs based on my mood more than anything and I am normally not ever in that sort of mood. I do have songs on the early albums that I do listen to a lot. Heck I listened to a lot of Metallica when playing FF12 on the PS2 which I will say fit well with the style of the game and not to mention Basch (one of the main characters) kinda looked and somewhat sounded like James.
James specifically said that he didn't learn how to sing until the Black album. He called what he did before "Yelling".
Please also check out “That was Just your Life” from Death Magnetic, their most thrash song in the 21st century!

This is it right here. Its a remastered version that adds more clarity to the mix. Death magnetic’s only weakness is its mixing imo and this fixes that

Great reaction though pal
I just wish he stopped expecting and wanting OLD metallica so bad. They are rocking out no matter what they do. Load and Reload are also good in my opinion.
James blew his voice out singing So F'ing What during the Black Album Tour.
He's never going to sound like the first 4 albums. We must accept that in our hearts and ears.
He still sounds phenomenal.
James is 60 years old. His voice is better than ever. I've heard stories that he's been working on his voice for years.
I got you man. Metallica was my absolute favourite with Cliff. Only I actually really like AJFA. But as with you they started to lose me with The Black album. For years and years I refused to listen to Death Magnetic and Hardwired, but finally this year I decided to give them a try. Do I love them? No! But the two albums have some really good songs actually. Try Spit Out The Bone from Hardwired.
Already in the que
Death Magnetic is a solid album. I also liked Hardwired. It's just good heavy music. Not great but good. Give them a shot
I will as long as people request them. I was totally turned off of Metallica, like I completely wrote them off. After hearing this, I found a glimmer of hope of a return. It's a start. We'll see what happens from here.
I think they went through a crisis, became "new metallica", but as through a chrysalis they've come out again, and it's not going to be exactly as the 80s, but it's worth keeping attention o n.
I think you will Love Hardwire to self-destruct album and the song Hardwire would be a great song to see ya react to as I still love metallica to this day

Death Magnetic is one of their best IMO.
Is it as aggressive as the first three albums.... well just keep listening to them if that is what you want, but the last two albums have been head and shoulders above anything I have heard put out there. To each there own
If you like this song. Try My Apocalypse!!! It's the first time in years MetallicA ended an album with a full thrashmetal song!

React to spit out the bone it’s exactly like old Metallica!
Already in the pipeline for filming...should be coming soon.
Way to ruin And Justice For All for me. It’s always been my personal favorite. Just kidding. I’ll still love it. I’m with you on one thing though. I lost interest after the black album. I don’t think I’ve paid any attention to their stuff since then except for the album they did the with SF symphony. That was a nice little experiment.
New Sub
I am Metalhead :p love rock 90s kid
Love Unforgiven for Black album like Megadeth bit better
I agree with what you feel about the evolution of Metallica, but it was impossible for James' voice not to grow and get better. On the first albums he was screaming and raw. No one's voice can survive staying raw, so he got better when he realized that this could actually be a career.
Hated load when it came out. Now, it’s one of my favorites. Reload... meh, there’s a few I really like. Gotta say I’ll take load over the black album. Puppets is my all time favorite.
Ride The Lightning for me personally.

Yes! Metallica's diversity is amazing! True artists! I love all their albums!
Do you wan't James to not progress as a singer?
Welcome back to 'tallica! They do some supremely good and TERRIBLE stuff. However I am not a metallica elitist or snob. Ride the Lightning is my favorite album with Call of Ktulu being my favorite song. Hated black album load and reload.
However a song like Cyanide, on Death Magnetic; has riffs straight out of Master of Puppets and probably is my fav song on Death Magnetic. I wouldn't mind seeing a reaction to that song.
Several people have said spot out the bone from the new album. GREAT choice there and I would add Atlas Rise! As well.
