    This stands to be the best video this year as it is very inspiring. I've always thought about what job I will be doing when I come over while my wife works as a nurse. Now with my little experience as a support worker in Nigeria, am assured of something positive working in the UK. Thanks you Nanele And your guest for her insightful information.

    Thank you. Aunty Catherine was on point. I had similar experience while I was in UK. I came in and started working as a Carer though schooling. Did my Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business & Management at University of Gloucestershire. Afterwards did my MBA Supply Chain Management at University of Sunderland. The money I made was enough to pay my fees, take care of myself & support my family. I worked with Strand Nurses Bureau, Brettenham House, London. Strand Nurses Bureau trained me to be a very good HCA. Did loads of trainings on various areas: Complex care, Palliative care, Laryngectomy/stoma care, Gastronomy, adult & mental health care.
    Though I'm a Supply Chain Consultant now, I see myself more as Healthcare Assistant going to be a Nurse some day as I have a genuine passion & zeal for Nursing.
    Thanks Nanelle. Aunty Catherine thank you for speaking the truth & encouraging those aspiring to use the route.

    the wages as a carer for a month is more than enough. take home after all taxes will be between £ 1800 to £ 2000. if you are a new arriver you only need a room of about £ 650 a month, food £ 200 a month, travel £ 200 a month. so you have balance of £ 1000 for your family and you can still save £ 300 a month. after you get established then you can look for higher wages. but 1st 6 months to one yr yo can survive. I have been here I over 30 yrs. we were earning £ 3.50 to £ 5.50 until recently

    • @jerinpt7410
      @jerinpt7410 Před 2 lety +4

      To earn take home after taxes between 1800-2000, how many hours one has to work totally a month? What is maximum per hour rate for carer?

    • @dorahy1579
      @dorahy1579 Před 2 lety +54

      It will depend on the the company. Most care homes prefer long days from 0800 am to 2000 pm minus one hr break. Thus you will be working 11 hrs a day at roughly £ 10.00 p/h some agencie or companies pay over minimum wages. I am just taking the lowest. So a week you will earn about £ 550 before taxes for 5 days. If you do 6 days then you will earn more. This is to do with elderly care or working in nursing homes. Or residential homes for old people and the sick and disabled people . But if you work for with Special Needs or people with Learning Difficulties then you are looking at 12 to 15 hours a day without breaks . But it’s a very relaxing job as you are normalising the lives of people with special needs.so you get more money bse remember you have put in more hours. The rates are different. I have given you the minimum wage as per government directive. Some agencies and employers are now paying over minimum wages up to £13 , £ 25 p/h. These rates are for carers. If you are a nurse then you will be looking for £ 18 p/h up to £ 25 p/h some agencies will pay up to £ 35, 38 p/h but donot aim high if you are a new starter. Work learn the system quickly and move on. Hope this information will help you. Good luck in the new venture. Here we started with £ 2.50 p/h and we survived. We ate one bread a wk with just water and we survived. I can assure you, you will survive.

    And...the responsibility is too much.

    From April 2022, the council tax rate is going up by around 10%, national insurance rate is hiking, energy bills going up by around £500 a year, water bills increasing, fuel charges already at it's peak...an average family will have to spend an additional £5000 to live in the UK according to the media and newspapers. Even nurses are going to struggle with their salary so I can imagine how the situation of carers is going to end up...you will have to work 24*7 to make some savings after all this hiked up bills...and no-one will be laughing their way to the bank....
