- Alex Koehler, Andre Koneczny and I are almost there getting trains to run thru Howard Zane's enormous iconic layout . With some technical setbacks today we are almost there. If you have a layout you are building or a layout you would like to upgrade feel free to contact me at alpug1@verizon.net to discuss as I do offer onsite service depending on location.
The Piermont layout has been basically dormant for the last five years due to medical issues that has made it impractical for me to work in the basement. Al and Andre have taken on the chore to bringing it back to life, and yes indeed, I'm grateful. Recently I had a stair lift installed and due to therapy and good diet, I'm again gaining access to the layout. I fractured my back for the second time and this time developed serious complications......not old age stuff. But hey, I'm a happy camper!
Love the honest approach..sometimes feel like I'm the only one who has running issue lol..
Thanks that's exactly why I don't edit them out
I can't wait to start my first layout. This looks so beautiful GREAT JOB!
Thanks thats one reason I do the channel glad to hear your starting a layout! let us help
@@alpugliesetrains9753 I'm completely new to all of this. I've always wanted to do this. But, I have to start with just the basics.
We have success! a full lap taking nearly 15 minutes on the elevated level will be posting tomorrow!
Getter done ✔️
Always been very fascinated with the Piedmont Division. Mainly due to it's insane size, some club layouts are smaller than this layout 😂. You guys have really taken on a job to bring the layout back so that ops can be run on the railroad. Its fascinating to watch bit by bit as the railroad comes back to life.
I cannot wait to see a video of that full circuit around the railroad. Keep it going Al...
Thanks will post upper full run loop tomorrow or Friday
Nice
Would like to see more trains running!!!
Yes we are working on it to do just that. Almost there
Funny how problems always seem to happen in tunnels. I committed the cardinal sin and built a reversing loop using curved switches in 2 separate tunnels ! What was I thinking ? I quickly learned how to cut access portals into the scenery so I could reach in and work on track problems. Beats having to crawl under the layout and blindly reach in to feel and repair problems !
Yes I strongly agree
Al, they might have to tie a rope around you in case you get lost and they gotta pull you out.😅
Is Howard still living?
Yes and doing ok
Debatable issue!@@alpugliesetrains9753
What I am to wiring, Vlad the Impaler was for prisoners' rights......but it worked. Note: the Erie class R1 never had this huge C&O tender . I had purchased this loco years back sans tender. The R-1 class had a short Vandy tender....never this huge sumbitch, but hey the hobby is about unlimited imagination.
I just noticed the NP box car which is next to last on this train. This was my first ever kit or anything for that matter I built for HO. This was 1962 and the kit was a Silver Streak offering. I had no idea I still had this car. Not too bad for a first attempt. I was in the Army at the time and since i had a job I hated.....assistant aviation liaison officer with almost nothing to do, I built this kit in my desk drawer which I could easily close should someone of importance come in. Seven years later i resigned and began my first layout in my new home giving this car a use and a home.
