What is the average note length of a run and is the full scale used for a Run? I would of liked to see the piano roll of midi notes.

Cinestrings has a deal on string runs and I grabbed it right quick. Midi drives me nuts mostly and nothing is more annoying and time consuming than manipulating it to make a string run that doesn't usually sound all that great anyway. So news alert, the string runs library sale. It's awesome.
I'll have to wait for the next one! :P

Your music is beautiful, and this is an effective tutorial. When you talked about "programming" in the title, however, I thought that you were going to discuss the technicalities of actually sequencing these runs so that they sound realistic, not talk about orchestration techniques. It is still a fine tutorial, but it is not quite what I was expecting from the title.

Regarding new music, I'm currently working on an album of cinematic orchestral music, which I hope to release by September at the latest. I definitely need to be held accountable for that! :D
@@ChristopherSiu No problem! I look forwards to your new album! Out of curiosity, do you think it is a better idea to release no pieces of an album as you finish them, or is it better to release the entire album at once. I am staggering the releases of the pieces of my current album, so I wanted a second opinion on that kind of thing.
I would say that depends entirely on your goal. For me, my aim is to let the listener one continuous experience from start to finish, so I will release them all together upon completion. However, if you don’t mind releasing in parts consistently, almost like a ‘single’ format, that could work well!

This is useful Chris but I find the title a bit misleading as the video is about showing examples of where to place runs and how you're using them in your piece.

Nice Tutorial! Just a general question, is there a reason to most people having their strings all the way to the top in their orchestral template, as they would usually be on the bottom in a classical score? For me that would make more sense but I haven‘t seen anybody doing it this way :D
Great question Nico! I think it’s because we generally start writing with strings first, especially in more romantic/emotional scores, so it’s just easily accessible when on the top. At least, that’s my reasoning :)

How would you recommend to input the midi for runs? Step input?
I always use a separate track for any runs, and play them in manually when I think they should play.
what is your thought process for using a sub bass in a very organic/orchestral piece like this? Just to really fill out the low end even more than a double bass can and reach full low end extension? If so, how do you decide when to apply it?
It’s really down to personal taste! Would it feel more balanced and full if applied? If yes, go for it!
@@ChristopherSiu Thanks! Do you design your own in Alchemy/Serum presets? I'm assuming this is more for the feeling of subharmonics than actually being heard. In that case, I assume you need very little edits to a basic sine wave. Do you still saturate it, to add those new higher harmonics?

Can you recommend a library for warm, soft legato string runs in the style of Wagner? Like in the Prelude to Parsifal? I was thinking Spitfire SS, but I'm thinking twice before spending the money.

Now my next problem is finding the right sounds to use. Muse score has some really great sounds but is much harder to use than FL studio. So I might try to find a way to use muse sounds elsewhere.
An actual programming of a run demonstration would've been nice, not just listening. We couldn't even see the editor window. Do you have another video that does show this?
