Virgil van Dijk headed a 118th-minute winner to seal the Carabao Cup for Liverpool with a 1-0 win over Chelsea.
Jurgen Klopp's swansong season has guaranteed at least one piece of silverware for the club, but it took a long time to get there in a topsy-turvy encounter that somehow stayed goalless for nearly the duration at Wembley.

I get what you're saying that he did play as an inverted fullback in the midfield later but he was the RB and not an out and out midfielder (it's similar to Trent's role). Conor Bradley was pushed as RW with Elliot back as the midfielder in place of Gravenberch when he got injured, not Gomez. Anyways, YNWA and yes Gomez has been amazing and versatile.
And Southflop will still pick fat Luke Shaw and washed up Trippier over Gomez

I am Man Utd fan but I couldn't help but admire Liverpool today, no matter how much I dislike them. This was a show of passion and spirit plus STRUCTURE. If your team has a clear plan and structure everyone coming into it knows their roles, believes in the plan and can fulfill it, even if they are U21s, add that to passion, grit and spirit you have a great team! It's sad to say it but this is what United was and has to strive to be once more😢. We'll get there, but congrats Liverpool fairplay👏

Chelsea fan here. A huge wholehearted congratulations to Liverpool. With or without Jota, Salah, Nunez and TAA, to a man they still perserved and worked hard for each other and the fans. They did not drop their energy levels and still had plenty in the tank, they pushed and pushed and rightfully deserved what they should have had in regulation time, a goal, their first one of which from the first half should have been upheld. Klopp is leaving and leaving Merseyside with silverware to go with it, the first one is in the bag and there are three more to be claimed.
Also forgot to mention Kelleher. That man has been a thorn in Chelsea's side at Wembley. A very good strong deputy in the domestic cup competitions when Allison was not available. Liverpool better keep him at Anfield.

I did not predict Chelsea to do anything special against Liverpool and was expecting that even without their flagship big names which contribute so much, others who have not been given chances under Klopp would do him proud and they certainly have strengthened their cases today. Their time in the first team will eventually come. Klopp is going to leave Liverpool in a huge healthy hungry state for which the next manager can build from.

PL refs(VAR)are such a joke... They didn't check the possible clear red card but the clear goal was checked.

Agree on the vvd disallowed goal, that thing happens every single game for every set piece, I don't recall ever seeing 1 disallowed for something like that, endo didn't even hold him, something you see on every set piece go unpunished.
The Caicedo challenge I don't think it was a red, probably a strong yellow, I don't want to see players sent off for strong tackles. However I have to go back to consistency, the fact Jones got sent off against spurs for something similar with a lot less force is mind blowing that it wasn't even a yellow. The fact VAR didn't even get him to review it so he could make his mind up after clearing asking VAR "what's happened, what have I missed" is also shocking.
The standard of the refereeing is an absolute abysmal this season. If they just stick to the same thing every game and kept it consistent no one would have an issue, it's the fact they are changing the rules on a game by game basis that's causing so much anger for all fans of all clubs.
Liverpool's attitude isn't "expect to win" it's "keep fighting until you've won". "Expect to win" is what you see from Man United over and over as they get dumped by lesser clubs...

Supported LFC since 71, I put this finals performance right up there as our major successes, Klopp using so many youngsters, showing true faith in them. No wonder his players will run through brick walls for him. Whilst the youngsters will rightly get the plaudits, don’t forget our twelfth player, our supporters raised the teams spirits when needed.

this is probably one of the toughest games for me as an LFC fan to watch. At some point I stepped out to take some air. Couldn't breathe. The injuries, then Gravenberch adds to the list. Then the ref cancels our goal. Then seeing our lads fight hard and get so tired. When I came back to my TV, I witnessed the second goal and thought it was a replay of the one that was cancelled. Took me a while to celebrate lol

The disappointment written on the faces of both Romeo Lavia and Caecido at 2:07 is what gladdens the heart of every Liverpool fan who was disappointed during the transfer window before the season began.
Caicedo can be upset all he likes. He should have been in the dressing room for what he did to Gravenberch. I hope his foot injury is not worse and he recovers. Caicedo is awful and he should have been sent off an absolute embarrassment and deliberately committed malice with that challenge, had it been the other way around, Liverpool would have been down to 10.
