  • I only review watches after I have used them for at least a year. Having had the SPB 147 for a while now, it's time for review from an owners perspective.
    Please help me out by SUBSCRIBING to the channel. It helps a lot.

    Thanks for the long term review. I think it’s the only one online. Much appreciated!

    Got the spb143j1. Such a beautiful watch and you can clearly see that it's built for purpose. Came in with a misaligned bezel, misaligned hour hand and dirt on the seconds hand.
    Went to the service center and it's covered under warranty. Got the watch back, still not perfect like my previous swiss pieces, but it has a certain charm to it... some weird kinda cool man

      Great watch. The anthracite dial is very distinctive.

    Thank you for your candid review. Been wanting a watch with blue lume, maybe should rethink it. Others have complained of gaps in the end links of models with the bracelets. All in all, though, I think this is a successful design from Seiko.

      A watch on the wrist is VERY different from a watch on camera- even my Grand Seikos have small gaps in the bracelets- and the gaps are not perceptible when you wear the watch. I actually recommend you to get this watch as the blue lume is not as bad as I make it sound.

      As an owner of the SPB143 the lug gap issue everyone keeps on about is a non issue in real life. These watches will be classics. The watch wears well on all types of straps but best on the bracelet.

      @@resjon7981 was surprised to find a jewelers within driving distance became a Seiko AD during COVID. Tried on an SPB143, looks and feels great, like a much nore expensive watch. Should've looked close for gaps, did not notice them. In my humble opinion, you've got a nice watch 👍

    spb147 bin indexes are a bit smaller and shine more like bgw9. After a while, the light of both drops to the same level and ends at the same time or very close, also blue phosphor(lume) looks better in daylight

      This watch is an instant classic with the distinct bezel, dial and proportions. And a fairly good movement to boot.

    They could have lumed the date wheel instead, maybe it would have been enough for the ISO standard requirement..

      Since I have both versions of the 147 (with and without lume at 3) I have to say I actually prefer the one with lume. It looks more in line with the current lineup. That's also the reason I am giving away the older SPB147

      I love it. It's a classic with it's contemporary take on the most legendary Seiko dive watch. Its finish and design match watches 3 times it's price.

    👍🏽Thorough review, well done but with one glaring ommision. Not one mention of the bezel mechanism or the insert and ... AND ... (OCD warning) you left the bezel un-centered for the entire video😠 LOL!

    • @DesignReviews
      @DesignReviews  Před 2 lety

      Good points. Will cover those aspects in future videos.
      Btw, I often use the bezel on my dive watches as a 12 hr second time zone. That's why where it's at (IST). Most of my dive watches have the bezel at 2:30 for that reason.

    • @DarthPlaya
      @DarthPlaya Před 2 lety +2

      @@DesignReviews Copy that. Understood. I use my bezel a lot as well (mostly to time my employee's on their breaks😒) but when you do a review could you please consider centering the bezel just during recording so all of us collectors suffering from OCD are not biting our nails and gritting our teeth trying to last until the end of the video and wondering why the bezel is not centered😬😥

    Poor time keeping for a $1000 watch is not acceptable. I have this watch and it keeps terrible time. I will nor buy another seiko.

    • @DesignReviews
      @DesignReviews  Před 2 lety +4

      How much time do you lose/gain per day?;if it is beyond the range, Seiko will regulate/service under warranty.
      Automatics are really not known to keep good time. They are dependent upon position (due to the force of gravity) for their accuracy. This does have a good movement with great power reserve. And you can always regulate the watch to get much better accuracy.
