    Watch how we easily Stripped the Clear Coat and Paint from the fibreglass bonnet of this 1971 Corvette Stingray using Cooper’s Paint & Varnish Stripping Products
    Using Cooper’s
    See how Cooper’s Stripper rapidly dissolves the old clear coat and paint down to the spray putty and is easily removed by scrubbing with Steel Wool
    Then watch how we removed the soft residues of old paint and Stripper using Cooper’s Flusher to avoid causing any damage to the spray putty and/or fibreglass
    You now have a surface that’s clean and dry, and is ready for a new finish (unless you’ve uncovered damage that first needs repairing)
    Using the Cooper’s system means you’ll be stripping your next project without needing to sand it
    Using Conventional Stripping Methods
    Conventional Stripper is usually quite destructive to fibreglass so most people opt for sanding, just imagine the time and work it would take to sand a Corvette
    In addition to the physical drama of sanding there's also all that toxic messy dust floating around, getting into everything it shouldn’t.

    I was taught to never use a chemical stripper on fiberglass because it causes the fiberglass to delaminate and react.

    • @coopersstripclub
      @coopersstripclub  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I understand, people usually wrap the car in plastic after putting the stripper on & leave it for ages, a real fibreglass killer
      However, with Cooper's there is no wrapping required & you only leave the stripper on until its done its job, resulting in a stripped surface thats clean, without any damage being done to the fiberglass

    I have a 64 Corvette instrument housing made of pot metal and was sprayed with silver then black satin lacquer from the factory. With minor variations all 63-67 Corvette instrument housings and glove box doors were made and finished this way. Also, the console cover plate was made and finished the same way except for the color. All three items, instrument case, glove door, and console have a camera case grain pattern. As far as I know the silver is not a primer but may have had an etching property to it as it was applied over chrome plating. I and many others have tried multiple brands of chemical striper, lacquer thinner, acetone and DOT 3 brake fluid. I have been able to remove 75 percent of the black lacquer but zero percent of the silver lacquer. Given the track record of the above products I have doubts about another product being able to perform where the others failed. My questions, 1. what colors or type of paint will your product not be effective at removing? 2. Why is the base primer not removed as well? and 3. Will this product affect plastic body filler commonly referred here in the states as Bondo. Any information or insight would be helpful. Thank You

      Hi, sorry for the delay in responding
      1: In over 40 years of manufacturing Cooper's I'm yet to find a paint it wont strip, weather it be single or double pot as well as etched primers so I don't imagine this will be my first :)
      2: In the case of the Corvette the owner asked that I didn't strip off the spray on body filler, if he had I would have left the Stripper on for longer & it would have taken that off as well
      3: Bondo is the same as the spray on body filler, it will strip off if you want it to
      Cheers for reaching out

    Did this only remove the base coat? It looks like the high build primer was left behind.. how does it remove a polyurethane clear without penetrating a urethane based primer?

  • @ssdtrain1
    @ssdtrain1 Před rokem

    It would help more if you sanded it with 180-220 to "break" the clear coat. That way
    the stripper can cut down further, faster...

    • @coopersstripclub
      @coopersstripclub  Před rokem

      Hi, I agree, with conventional stripper that trick does make it work better, however with Cooper's its not needed, Cooper's happily absorbs in & gets the job done

    We recently bought a Dodge B250 extended van with a fiberglass topper, and have discovered many leaks in the fiberglass top. It has been painted with what appears to be automotive paint to match the van paint job that has started flaking up in some spots and has many cracks. I am looking into removing the paint so we can reseal the fiberglass with fresh fiberglass, to make it stop leaking. How much of this product would we need (approximately) to complete the paint stripping? I would prefer to keep cost as low as possible, so I was considering the Pack A to do the job.

      @@coopersstripclub I sent an email with a photo, not sure if you got it. We are still trying to decide our plan of action. It seems a previous owner of the van drove the top into something that scraped into the front section of the top, it's still intact, but we have leaks, and need to repair the fiberglass in that area after removing the paint. it is an 85 so the paint is older and already flaking up in some spots. I am hoping it's easy to remove
