you trippin on portal gang! it’s great for pads, and smearing melodies, you really should just play with some of the presets when you use pads, back grounds or melodies. hell it works good on chords too tbh. it’s great when you need a solid “filler” or background pad to make the beat sound full, great with ambience ! good on spacey type beats, or beats now a days with dark vibes. copy a pattern on to a pad or bells and add this….just a good vibey fill. instant dark vibes lol

I respect you putting portal in D tier cause I get why you don’t like it. But once you have a set melody, try going through the presets and start the mixer knob at 0 for each and slowly slide it up. It can be a nice cherry on top and can also be an easy way to add variation. Solid video

No offense, but you seem more like a beatmaker who enjoys creating beats quickly. For you, sound design plugins might not be as useful. Most producers prefer designing their own sounds to add a unique touch, rather than using presets that many others have. If you're not into sound design and prefer presets, you might not find Portal or serum to be a good fit.
zenology is so goated for new jazz /pluggnb type beats but i understand why u dont use it as you dont make those types of beats, i agree its really only good for more melodic stuff for dark beats its pretty bad
