  • In this episode, Koki Niwa (10 years old), Japan Junior BMX Freestyle Park Champion, and Aoki (support rider) explain in detail how to do a quick air out on a quarter ramp at a skate park and how to raise the height of the ramp! This video shows two riders, Nobu (58 years old) and Mihito (12 years old), who have been BMXing for about a year and have participated in Jitensha Depot's BMX school, learning air out from Koki and raising their air speeds. Please watch it to the end!
    One Point Tip.
When practicing air turns in the early stages, it is best to practice "kick turns," where the front tire is lifted off the ground and only the rear tire is used to make the turn.
Push at the entrance of the arbor and wait for the front tire to exit the coping while stretching up.
If you feel unstable when exiting the coping, it is often because you are pulling the handlebars forcibly as you exit the coping with your weight still on the front tire. The higher you go up the arele, the more you should be conscious of shifting your weight to the rear wheel.
The higher you go up the arele, the more you should be conscious of shifting your weight to the rear wheel. (Even when you are not high, please land with the same awareness.)
Koki explains in the video that the air turn is like doing a bunny hop when exiting the coping, but this is the feeling you get after you are able to do an air turn. In fact, there are many kids who can do high air turns even if they can hardly bunny hop.
    Last but not least
When you ask a good rider for tips on air out, you will hear a variety of advice from different people. Some of them are: "bunny hop," "don't hop," "fly straight," "fly wide sideways," "do a manual as you exit the coping," "pull the handlebars," "don't do anything until you exit the coping," etc. All of the advice is correct, but in the end, it all depends on how you want to do it. All of the advice is correct, but in the end I think it depends on the rider's current level, R angle, coping angle, and speed of entry. The only thing I can say is that I have never seen anyone who could fly with a bang without practice, even after watching videos and asking good people for tips. Practice hard and gradually increase the height!
