@@yungmentalproblems the problem with hip hop is precisely that goddamn need for "evolution" people have.
Other music genres keep their identity no matter how many years pass. Meanwhile hip hop keeps doing radical changes and thus losing the identity it creates every time before one of those changes. It's too inconsistent.
IMO the worst thing that could've happened to the genre was that loss of the identity we had back in the 90s with every state having their own sound by replacing everything with generic repetitive trap beats.
Edit: that's what keeps the genre relevant though, that's why hip hop has stayed on top of the charts since its debut unlike rock and others which got dethroned.
