    Great living alternative. In this time in history where housing is out reach for many.

      sadly it's hard to find places where these are permissible.

    Love your yurt videos from the making of the platform to this. Learning so much but also very relaxing to watch. I will keep watching and stealing ideas. Regards from Canada.

    Been studying yurts for a time now. While they are interesting for sure. Now really my cup of tea as they are built today. So a am making a different kind of yurt system. No lat wall system, real walls, composite lamb beams that are build with the post and beams as one unit. 3 inch roof planks with insulation. That you can single. Windows all around. AC and heat pump. Sitting on a slab With running water and a septic system.

    Officially, the structure of the side wall supports the structure of the roof. The top of the crossbars, and not the string covering the crossbars. This soft suspension of the roof is a faulty construction. The roof lives a separate life from the side wall structure by stretching and compressing the wire.

    I think these guys need a little more experience. First tip. Take (2) 2x4 and run them through the ladder rungs just below the ladder top. then place the ring on top of those 2x4. (Ladder should be the center point in the ring) You'll soon find out how out why. then start attaching your rafters at 12, 3, 6, 9 0'clock. raise to the height needed as you add more rafters.
    This way one person on the ladder can set the rafters all the way around while another places their end to the top cable. And you can easily adjust level and center of ring. plus the added peace of mind that you wont drop the ring 12+ feet.

    This was an excellent little series! I was inspired to put up a 20’ yurt on our SW Colorado property and your deck building video really helped me understand how to get off to a solid start. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Thanks!

    I think this is a great solution for those who lost their homes in Ukraine, if you build it yourself. I am looking for any information and I plan to repeat the factory variant

    Why does it look like spiders and other bugs can just squeeze in through the gaps and get inside? Do you have this problem over there?

    Hey Joe, owner builder here. I am looking for a tradesman to build a 30' platform for a permitted Pacific Yurt off grid on 5 acres in Lassen CA. The concrete has already been poured. Would you be interested? Thanks, keep up the fantastic work.

    Hmm I've never seen that before. It's engineered to stay up in wind?

    • @JoeSimple
      @JoeSimple  Před 3 lety

      It is designed to withstand most weather, another option i have seen for high snow and wind load, is they can add 2x4 under the "rafters" to the floor.

      Yards are seriously wind resistant due to their round shape. It's why they have used them on the Mongolian steppes forever

    A bear would walk through the walls to get at the food. Very cool though. Just don't use it in bear country.

      Hello Thereasa, just want to clarify, I built the platform. The yurt was installed by living intent, the locals that made it. If your looking for a platform we may be able to help.

    This is not an effective framing roof is too heavy for the walls and it is also missing the central poles like it is in the original ones. But I guess this type serves well for the purpose and they also used materials such as sleet rope so I can no really say...

    Купол слишком массивный и тяжёлый не соответствует толщине сетки, если только сетка сделана из лиственницы.. Такую юрту снесёт сильный ветер или землетрясение. Такое ощущение, что нарушены законы сопромата, хотя, если это временная площадка для проведения каких-либо мероприятий, тогда сойдёт, но, не для постоянного жилья, коим является юрта, у которой массивной частью является диск, а вся остальная конструкция выполнена из лиственницы одинаковой толщины.
