- In this video, I provide my perspective on owning something that I would truly describe as a "timepiece" - the F.P. Journe Chronomètre Souverain in red gold.

I got my F.P.Journe CB a year ago and wear it everywhere like you.
Nobody has ever commented on it, so it is a nice stealth watch that always makes me smile.
Reviews about the Chronomètre Souverain start to torture me as my longing increases. I hope life will allow me this pleasure. Enjoy it to the fullest mate, also enjoy it for all of us who dream of it :) nice review

What a great video. Whimsical is the perfect word to describe these. Their styling elements always reminded me of that Edwardian chitty-chitty bang-bang theme. I dream of the day when I can own one myself.

I just received my F.P. Journe Quantieme Perpetual Calendar 42mm rose gold. I know exactly how you feel. Holy s**t is not enough. It was this or a P.P aquanaut rose gold. I know I made the right choice!!!!
Congrats love FP journe, many of the watches we chase aren't up to this standard, however I'd have to sell everything I own to get one, and that's not an option I'd do. Your video was also hilarious, it's great to be entertained, instead of a lecture, good job.

I recently acquired a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon in red gold .. when I wear my stainless submariner I get comments all the time.. I've worn the VC out on several occasions and only once got a "nice watch" comment but the had no idea what it was, just noticed the blue dial... I love that. FP Journe and VC both use the same dial maker for this dial... My goal is to get my own FB Journe ChronometreBlue .. but right now they're going for $100K .. and getting one from FP Journe is almost impossible.
Historically, timepiece simply refers to an uncomplicated watch or clock that has only time functions hours minutes and seconds. No date, no day of the week, no calendar, no chiming or repeating, no chronograph.
In that sense this certainly is a timepiece. But then so is my q and q Snoopy watch from 1972. 😀
As for calling rose gold Red Gold, I mean if the name you call the precious metal your watch is made of affects how manly you feel then you do you.
Gorgeous watch...ahem, timepiece! Definitely for the 1 %ers though, at $30k a pop.

It really makes you wonder also after F.P. Journe passes what will happen to the value of the watches (presumably they'll skyrocket) but also, would the company be able to service the watch still? It's like Kevin from SharkTank said about Journe, 'like buying a Picasso from Picasso while he was still alive' . This watch is magic, Alice in Wonderland type of mad genius scientist gorgeous watch.

It took me 8 mins before I realized the Arabic numerals where placed as if to be read if you were standing in the middle of the dial.
I love FP Journe watches will never ever be able to afford one. Unless ofc someone lets them know of my worship and they give me a watch so I can advertise it by wearing it lol.

I really like the watch! And i understand your points, though i personally would not feel that comfortable, wearing a solid gold watch on a daily basis...
But i'm still on the list for a chronometre bleu, so i don't have to worry about scratches or dents on the tantalum.
Jakob Finke having one, you still get scratches and dents but would never sell it!
One day I will have one.

StevieDj For me personally, it might have been nice if there was model of this watch that was 2-3mm less in diameter to make it even more discrete, but at the same time it really does have great presence at 40mm (while still slipping comfortably under a cuff), so I really can’t complain 😁

@@a004 you know i didn't. I'd arranged a price as well. £21k. Last May. Great price. But i was worried about my business and held off at the time. Then there was a huge price jump. Tbh, I'm glad i didn't buy it. I realised i was on the hype train. I don't like the upside numbers and the lack of date. So, the search goes on! ha ha!!! Maybe a vacheron...

Charles Harrison It’s a good question 😁. Happy to discuss this more via direct message, but what I’ll say here is that while the Chronomètre Bleu has a very long waiting list and carries huge premium on the secondary market, the Chronomètre Souverain can still be found on the secondary market at a discount. If you go that route, I would suggest working with a dealer that has a fairly regular inventory of preowned Journes - better chance of less issues after the fact. Hope this helps!!
