- We head off on Boxing Day 2023 for a stay at the Coniston Coppice Park Caravan & Motorhome Club site. Chas has a new awning and the weather is not so good.
We are Nikki and Alex, enjoying trips whenever possible in our 2012 Burstner Nexxo T660 motorhome. We also enjoy a bit of gentle river and canal kayaking, exploring on our eBikes and Hillwalking.
Alex does a bit of custom paintwork with the airbrush and dry flake gun, rides a Triumph Street Triple motorcycle and a 1987 Suzuki Intruder as a bit of a project bike, as well as enjoying the occasional exploration of old mine workings. Every now and again we mix in the occasional workshop project.

Thanks for sharing with us all ❤
Thanks for watching!
Love swimming in that lake, very wet back end of the year. Lets hope for some dry weekends.
There were a few hardy folk that went swimming while we were there !
I’m trying to avoid awnings at all costs, now we have a slightly bigger van we are hoping never to use one again, a little tent for outside storage is all I’m hoping for maximum now just purely for the faff of putting them up and down in the wet, yes it’s 100% a great addition and when it is wet I appreciate it’s better to get all your wet stuff off outside the van but….. and as for Chas’s one I could not begin to be arsed with that! Looks ace but way too much effort!
Also as a side note I’ve NEVER been to the Lake District! Mad eh?
I rarely bother if it's just a weekend but I do like them for a longer stay. I think now we've put up Chas's awning once it will bexa lot easier next time.
I definitely recommend the Lake District, much nicer in the summer 🤣
Saving spaces on a CAMC sight the wardens will be hung drawn and quartered LOL. Wow the water is high, bet there is a hosepipe ban by April.
🤣 yes, it was pretty wet!
I cycled in to check to see if I could get a phone signal because I had no signal at the CL near Broughton-in-furness, it is dark and dingy in there in summer, I guess that is good in extreme heat, oh and that campsite next door by the lake is pretty wild in the summer. I ended up in Torver which was better.
I think the shelter from the trees was an important factor in the survival of our awnings too!
Happy New Year.
As we get older we want less to do when arriving, or leaving a site, therefore, we only use our awning if we are pitching for a week, or longer.
They are a great asset when they're up, however.
Yes, we rarely bother for a weekend but we were on site for 6 nights so well worth it. It rained constantly so a definite advantage having extra shelter 👍
