G’day gentleman, thanks for showing me a fantastic Aussie made camper trailer. It’s funny how I found out about a new Aussie camper by watching a CZcams channel from the USA.I live in Australia and my family and I absolutely love camping/over-landing.It’s nice to see an Australian company exporting some fantastic gear to our friends in the US.Happy travels.
They are incredible trailers! We have to bring stuff over you Aussies are about 10 years ahead of us for this style of camping. Cheers!
If you've got the coin and the patience to wait for delivery, then they are absolutely worth the money. Just a sensational, well built, robust trailer. (We just couldn't afford one)
@@trevoroverlandingnorthamer8748 -This segment of camper trailer/hybrid caravans has exploded here in Australia in the last decade. The variety available here at the moment allows many people with varying budgets to be able to travel our great country in some level of comfort.Currently I own a Goldstream Sandman off road camper with several creature comforts. It suits my family’s requirements quite nicely.Cheers, Rob.
@@petermiddo 👍
Well done gents. I have one of these in Australia and love it. You’re right, great quality provides a really enjoyable camping trip. Enjoy!
Those ossees sure know how to build a quality caravan !
Wow amazing product. They really know how to build great quality trailers in Australia
They truly build quality they are 10years ahead of us in the "Overlanding" world.
Completely agree.
You should check these guys out they are called The Gall boys, they build, develop, test and then build them for the market, I cant believe what they do to there Caravan/trailer czcams.com/video/wk6KJXeOM0k/video.html
VERY COOL !
Can I just say that as a parent with active family of 4 the number 1 failure of small camp trailer designers is how they don’t accommodate two separate kids bunks!! This setup shows how simple yet how effective it can be to include kids bunks. Nice trailer!
Thanks a lot! Our boys love it!
Gotta love the outtakes! The trailer is awesome, but the outtakes and everything else are my favorite 😂
Cheers!
Hi guys, my wife & I purchased our Lifestyle Reconn (Original Version) in 2016 & we still love it. Kitchen is the same, quality of bedding is the same, huge storage in the same. You do have improved dust suppression & electric wind up roof which we don't have.
We are yet to find a better built camper in the Australian market (just our opinion). After 4 big outback trips ( 4 x 8000km) it still looks brand new. They were a fantastic camper then, and looks like they still are.....hope you are not spooked by the entry door being on the opposite side............happy adventuring
Thanks, we love the build and design quality! The door being on the "wrong side" doesn't bother us a bit.
Great video and run through. We are in Australia and have just ordered our Reconn R2, but don’t get delivery until 2024!! Very excited and sure it will be worth the wait. Great to hear you are enjoying yours and will be interested to follow along with your adventures. Thanks guys!
Thank you very much and congrats on your new, soon to come trailer.
Great rig overall, lots of storage. Creating a positive pressure inside the rig while in motion is a pretty sweet idea. Keeping the interior as clean as possible is key when you have allergies like me.
It's super clean. Being in the desert all of our tracks are super dusty, nothing has gotten in yet.
Seriously, the Australians have camping locked down to a completely elevated level. I really like this. Have a couple of questions: what is the weight capacity/rating for that bunk? This is something we has to seriously look at in potential campers. And, does the ensuite addition have like a little topper so we could use that space for double duty for a potty place as well? That would be absolutely perfect to stick a Porta potti. Seriously love this though. I would love to see his annex room set up as well.
This is awesome. My wife and I have been looking for a trailer big enough for us and our 2 German shepherds as well as kids in the future. It’s hard finding one big enough while also being light enough for the 4Runner to pull. I think I just found it!
Some nice design ideas, but if I’m going to haul something that big around, it needs to have an inside wet bath. Also, sleeping right next to canvas in cold weather would suck. So many Aussie trailers just aren’t built for cold weather camping. This seems like a great summer camper though.
This camper would be perfect for my family👍🏾
Heck ya!
That's the most impressive overland trailer I've seen to date.
Thanks!
It is pretty awesome.
Great review, love seeing Aussie products get reviewed overseas.
There is a show in Australia called top of down under where they took one to some of Australia's toughest places and the van was on point all the way.
It’s pretty amazing!!!
Another great one guys..
Thanks!
Thank you.
You got one of our best ones boys! The R4 is better but not really needed. AOR is another quality trailer.
My next upgrade will be a R4 Tandem. I agree AOR makes a hell of trailer as well.
Very nice trailer
Love it but I believe it will break the bank that I can’t afford
You guys need to import a Cub Camper trust me
I'm really excited to get 'em here so I can mark'em up and make a killing. LOL
Damn that trailer is two blocks long. Keep it on the flat stuff.
We've already had it on the rocks and it does well as most of the weight is down low.
2:40 Heads I win Tails you lose........ LOL
Ha
Easy there Forest Gump !!! LOL
Nice rig. My recommendation? At least one more battery, if not two, and change them to Lifepo4, and you will get more use.
It's already lithium but a second battery would be nice. However, we have never gone below 80% on our 100Ah.
That is really cool! Looks like terrific build quality and attention to detail. Do you know what the loaded weight is as shown here? And how does the 4Runner do pulling it?
Thanks! Dry weight is 3,500# and 4,000# with water and a couple hundred extra pounds for all of clothes, food and extra gear. 4Runner Handel's it well on and offroad. It struggles a bit on steeper grades at highway speeds but I need to regear.
It's got solar panels at top
Cooking while filling up gas? Living on the edge!
This looks really cool. Does it fit in a garage?
your 4Runner is gonna hate that hog trailer soon!
Trevor absolutely loves that thing. It’s pretty awesome.
Do you think you will get the new Reconn R4 LRX in America?
When you want to camp but you actually wanna be at home.
My wife and I stuck our nose into your trailer at the factory/showroom. Sadly the price and the 22 month wait for the trailers were the killers.
This is what I am saving for ? Tunder trd or basic Tunder your advice ? going basic everything but camper .
Good question. I would go with SR5 for older gen and a TRD Offroad for the new gen since they finally put a factory e locker in.
You said base weight was 3500 any idea what it is loaded out?
I have a patriot camper and i honestly haven’t seen anything close to it till now.. I love love love this thing…..Damn wanna trade
Trade... no but we can outfit your own for you!
@@trevoroverlandingnorthamer8748 lol
How is condensation with the propane heater? Beautiful rig , but how will it do in tight trails?
No issues yet, I always Crack a window anyway.
No condensation so far but AZ is very dry. The trailer is as wide as the 4Runner so will be a tight fit on tight trails. 4Runner pulls it really well. Has a redarc trailer brake controlling the trailer.
Nice to see an actual Aussie camper instead of a cn made knockoff like those others being imported.
100%!
5 out of 4 overlanders have trouble with math
Haha you are telling me!!!
Cool setup but it seems a little too long for any real off road adventures. Especially pulling it behind a 4Runner.
It can handle some rough terrain, but if the turns get tight that's when it can hit the limits. But the 4Runner can handle it but the GX460 will be a better tow rig.
how about a grizzly test??? can a grizzly or kodiac bear tear into it???
Absolutely. No trailer or truck is bear proof.
Jim Rome.
Service and warranty work is backed by ?
Full warranty is supported in US
Did I miss it, or did they not mention price at all?
Reconns Start well equipped at $55,000 and can be customized with a host of options. We also have a Iconn model well equipped at $39,000.
@@trevoroverlandingnorthamer8748 hahahahaha
Pushing overlimit of towing with the V6. 4.88's sound like the next mod, eh? Another model with the Queen Bed and lighter on the axle would get my attention. Has it seen serious rain yet? Not no sprinkle...I mean a PNW kinda wish you were a duck kinda rain. Some of these "pop up" style rigs tend to leak like a seive..even when new.
The old 4Runner still can get her around but new gears would really help. We been in rain but not PNW rain yet. It should hold up without issue.
They do know Guinness is Irish. Should have said XXXX (fourX) not that Foster shit. Pretty much all the best Australian made caravans/camper trailers are built in QLD with Qld built off-road experts business's. Patriot Campers , lifestyle campers , cruisemaster , Kedron Caravans , Zone Rv , Bruder Caravans , Redarc and more
If you have a large family and need more room just get a second vehicle for half the cost of this.
Sure
Yea but 8 year olds typically can’t see the spotter and touch the gas pedal!😂
Why is the door on the wrong side?
It’s Australian. We drive on the other side of the road.
@@garyhankinson5695 Yer i know, but when you stop on the side of the road, for safety the door should be on the passengers side. I am Australian but i think it was stupid to sell a left side opening door to a client in the USA.
They have no idea as a company how to look after clients in other countries in my opinion.
@@rosswoolley2854 I completely agree. If you want to take on the American market you should have the option to reverse everything.
@@rosswoolley2854 I don't think the door side is a big factor. We aren't ever getting in and of the trailer or kitchen on the side of busy roads. The only time it really becomes an issue is at rv camp grounds where the hookups will be on the wrong side and your staring at your neighbors. But really who gets a trailer like this to go to a rv area?!?!
How much does this way loaded up? Must be well over 5,000lbs
dry weight is 3,500#
@@trevoroverlandingnorthamer8748 how have your trans temps been? Curious since I have the same 4R
@@trevormcmorran470 No issues at all. The only problem that I've run into is maintaining highway speeds on really steep grades. I normally drop down to 55mph. Offroading hasn't been an issue at all.
Ha ha! Nice it's a dream for sure, but you won't be able to sell many for those overkilled price tags. Might as well take your advertisement to Hollywood where the celebrity are, they are the only people who can afford things like that. Sad to say.
It this channel going to a trailer commercial?
Nope, just showing off our awesome gear and new ventures.
Definitely not. Gotta show the cool new overland stuff.
Video quality was good. But the RC2 does NOT apparently come with an internal toilet. (unless you start checking off option boxes) Which at a starting price of about $56K and quickly jumping up to $64K with some minor amenities, it does not appeal to me. Nor does the fact that there is questions about where it is really built. Partners with a Chinese company, one might want to do your homework before you commit so much money to a company that is not transparent. I love the idea of supporting Australian companies if they have products I am interested in, but not interested in supporting a country that is supporting Russia. ;) At the time this video was released, Russia had already invaded the Ukraine. Just saying.
The Reconn Series are 100% made in Australia. You can also option a R2 with internal ensuite.
Reconn 100% Australian built.
I dont get the confusion in the video..maybe a usa aus thing but Australian own and built means the company is Australian owned and built in Australia not built in Australia but owned by a foreign company .
So whilst pumping petrol (gas) your wife lit and used a gas burner to cook lunch??? WTF.
Cooked Lunch = Made Sandwiches. I'm not super crazy... just slightly!
can we say crap take the fun out of overlanding your such flatlanders? get a rv
Thanks for the positivity. You should watch some of our other videos.
The interior of the camper sucks. Glad I have Air Opus OP2. Much nicer camper.
Opus makes a great camper but overall setup time is what killed it for me.
👎🥴
