Finally Driving The NEW Jaguar F-Type! [Is It Better Or Worse?]

- 3 years after I sold my beloved F-Type R, I finally got the chance to check out Jaguar's new and apparently improved version!

The new Jaguar
F-TYPE looks more
beautiful than ever
and embodies Jaguar design
DNA in its purest form. The
two-seat sports car offers a
perfect balance of performance
and driver reward with an
even more muscular, assertive design and a cabin defined by
rich, luxurious materials and
beautiful details.
The range of powerful,
responsive engines includes
four-, six- and eight-cylinder
options*, all matched to eight speed
Quickshift transmissions
with full manual control using
either the SportShift gear
selector or the steering
wheel-mounted paddles.
The new 450PS supercharged
V8 has been developed to
offer exploitable and rewarding
performance - its maximum
torque of 580Nm being
generated from just 2,500rpm. It
is offered with a choice of
all-wheel drive and - for purists -
rear-wheel drive. Both versions
can accelerate from 0-60mph in
just 4.4 seconds, and reach a
maximum speed of 177mph.

accrued from the development
of the limited-edition, 200mph
Jaguar XE SV Project 8, the
Quickshift transmissions in
both the new F-TYPE R and
the 450PS V8 models have
been meticulously recalibrated
for a more engaging driving
experience. The new F-TYPE R
specifically offers even faster,
crisper gear changes when the
driver commands shifts manually
via the steering wheel-mounted
paddles or the SportShift gear

We know jags are maybe not the most technically advanced, maybe a little behind the Germans. However in a world of identikit cars, due to safety legislation etc. Jags remain distinctive and you know its a jag and they are British.... I think they remain a cool and proper car choice 👍

I think they will achieve more success if they offer a bit more performance, the are offering a 2 ltr throughout the line up. They must consider offering a performance version of xe with a inline six competing with bmw M3, Audi rs5, merc c. Also add a 3.8 v8 to their xf to compete with m5,s8 and e63s amg.
Ps I know about the project 8 being a competition to the m3 but it is limited in number

The v8s is even cheaper if you don't mind a convertible. That's what I have

This is my absolute dream car and I will be able to afford it in 4 to 5 years. It's just painful to watch it on the screen and not being able to touch it. I crave it soo badly

I really loved the V6 engine in the F-type, feeling gutted it’s not an option in the new version
Was very lucky to try both V8 models at JLR Fen End and loved every second. You will love the R, a noticeable increase in every aspect, performance, character, smiles. What is clear, is the passion Jag engineers have for the F Type. Proud V6S owner but oh so tempted by the V8.
There's no content like yours, Sam! Massive appreciation for Twiggy getting on that seatbelt sensor and the rear spoiler going up 'n' down as seen through the rear glass! I really hope there's another Jag in your garage sooner or later!;)

The 450 4x4 was so planted on the gymkhana track at Fen End even as an inexperienced driver in that car I had loads of fun.
In my opinion I reckon you choose the best version of the bunch, in reality you really don't need more than 450bhp for a GT car and AWD just gives a good all season car. Like the japonese Jaguar knew were to improve the car on different aspects and the result it's very good. Nice one for reviewing this version.
If your channel didn't exist, I don't know if I'd survive Covid. How you don't have your own 1 hour Car TV show is beyond me...? You could literally be the next Jeremy Clarkson as entertaining as you are. Don't let it go to your head lol..not that you ever would my friend! Props from Maryland state side.

Have you considered getting a little harness and a dog seatbelt tether? Will stop the dinging and also helps incase you have an accident.

It almost sounds as good as my '15 F-Type S. Sorry, I love the V8, but the V6 was the sweet spot of the range and sounds incredible. I don't like the new front end. The rear is nice, and the updated infotainment is welcomed. Losing the "sillyness" in character to me is the greatest loss. It's what puts a smile on my face every time I drive my Jaaaaaag.
Sam... great to see you in Monterey last year. If you make it back to the States and want to have a go in a 550hp Jag... feel free to take a spin in my XKR-S GT. I know you drove the red one there a while back in traffic... try this one in the hills of TN just south of Nashville.
New F-type is nice, but would love to see a Project 7 in the garage at some point. So much heritage!

I’ve never been in an f-type so no comparison on how mic’s pick sound up. My dad and I saw a v8 when we were driving back to his house and he was like “I want that car - it’s stunning!” He couldn’t believe the noise was coming from the same car!

I think if this would be my only car, I'd have the new one. Still sounds really good, looks good (i mean, imagine it in a dark green metallic with espresso brown seats) and maybe a bit more civilized and usable on a daily basis.
