Hey, thanks. Hope you're doing well I'm shattered after getting this wrapped up. I legit didn't know about jump king but whilst working on this discovered an entire sub genre of Foddy games. Also found ConnorDawg who plays a lot of these games and that became my bg noise 😅. I'm tempted to tidy up the mechanics and swap the art and perhaps release it. See if it gains traction like you said. I went into this jam just wanting to find something fun with a simple hook.
It's a super simple Niagara system. Two emitters which use a ring texture. One grows out over time. The other grows out, shrinks and has a vertical velocity over time. I think it's just the emissive vale that makes it look cool. I'll try to cover a tutorial on it if I get the time.
Seems to have turned out that way. I genuinely didn't know of Jump King until I'd fully implemented the core mechanics. I'll need to go and play it. I didn't realise the Bennet Foddy game had created an entire sub genre of rage games 😅
