By far one of the cleanest jobs and presentations I’ve seen on CZcams! Great video 🤙🏼
Cheers bro 🍻 Thank you for appreciating this work.
I really admire your dedication on this hobby. Happy fish keeping!
Thank you very much Japh! I know deep down we're both fish lovers
Bro this made my day. I've been looking for this type of video because I can't afford to make a 3 chamber drum filters
Perfect bro, glad you this one helped you.
Wow , thank you for this video, I am looking for a video on how to make a DIY pond filter, and I find this very interesting, professionally made, and it looks very decent.
Ang galing ng design. Kopyahin ko iyan Bro! TY sa share!
Welcome Joe 😉
Welcome aboard sa The Koi Pond Experience
What a great video my guy!! I've been looking for a decent way to diy one for myself for a while now amd this by far looks the best I've seen. Thank you for very much for sharing. Could i maybe please suggest that you could take the air lines and have them direct feed to the bottom of the bucket with silicone instead of having them through the overflow pipe, I'm thinking some restrictions in flow the way it is. Also having the air lines in there like that you could theoretically run, say those small media balls and pretty much have it constantly "fluidised" just my two cents haha. Thanks again for posting.
Thank you for this video. It is super informative and well done in making it clear and easy to understand. However, might be even better video if you tone down on the sound effect.
This is great, I'm doing this on my pond soon! Thanks a ton for this video.
Cool, you're welcome my friend
nice video...i know a lot from this video...thank you sir...stay safe always and god bless.
Hey there Ed, glad this video was helpful for you. Stay safe bro
Thank you for sharing the build
Any time!
Very well thought out. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Salute boss! Ang galing. Salamat po
Double drum filter is innovative .
Great advice and good explnation. Thanks for sharing
I really like how you explained.. Thank you so much..
After watching your video , I have got three questions I would like to ask you .
1) What is UV light for ?
2)What is the size of pipes do use for inlet and out let ?
3) where did you get those Stone ?
4) and how much power of pump do you use ?
UV Lights kill algae that float in the water and prevent your water from turning green. Lava rocks can easily be found at a home improvement store like Lowe’s or Home Depot or in the garden section of a supermarket
What the uv light 4
UV light is for killing the bacteria
This is so impressive thanks for sharing
Thank you! Cheers Sandra!
Which are the other air making pumps and stones? Thank you for a great video. I’m a new subscriber!
Great design. One of the best
Thanks for sharing. Its an excellent design. 👍
Eccellente lavoro,sei bravissimo♥️
Gracias ati
Nicely planned and executed. Keep it up
Thank you sir 👍
Wow thats very great business. Thanks for sharing new fren here. Suporta all d way pa lablab
Thanks for coming Emz, I appreciate the backup. Happy Holidays to you
Beautiful pond and thanks for the really good explanation. Can you recommend the oxygenator you're using?
Bukas DIY ako nito👍👍👍
ayos lods!
@@thekoipondexperience1259 maliit lanf kasi diy filter ko lods
Only thing I would do differently is to use Uniseals instead of a 2 part epoxy to seal the pipes going through the barrels
Nice build and nice video information!! 👍👍
helpful kaayo Boss., thank you.,
Way sapayan broh
I have a 4000 gallon pond. Was thinking of using a 32 gallon garbage can forbthe Bio tank and a 10 gallon for the mechanical.
Thanks for the job, may i ask this filtrations size is compatible with what size of water in CubicMeter and what is your stocking density in the CubicMeter?
Thank you, It'll help to make my filter.
Hai , thanks for ur clear explanation,
Is it need to place uv light and air tube to the setup
If a pls show it clearly
It's not necessary to add UV and aeration inside the drum filter. But the presence of these add an incremental advantage into how efficient your filter set-up will be. Any little advantage really matters for some.
But if you can't set these two at the moment it is perfectly fine. You can set them up later when you're ready.
thank you for showing your process, I'm new in this kind of hobby, what is the use of UV light in the filter ?
to stop pond water from turning green and partly to keep water healthy by removing harmful bacteria
Best video on it
Nice lodi. Happy Holidays. Nice vid. Keep it up bro🎄👍👌
Happy holidays bro! And advance happy new year! More vids to come for both of us. Abangers ako as mountain biking vids mo.
Good.. keep it up
very nice video!
Thanks you friend
Nindot kaayo sir...
Salamat sir
Nice presentation👍
Thank you bro 👌
Thanks you so much...🙂
One question though, could I keep the 2nd drum lid open if I manage to get a larger drum so that I can do aquaponics on lava rocks and pumice which will make the filter further efficient?
Super informative helped me alot
Nice one big like
Thanks for the support broh
I'm thinking an airlift input pump would be more energy efficient and improve the mechanical filter performance by not shredding solids.
yea this is an amazing job well done
Love ur video appreciate ur works
Thank you my friend
the Cons is all the collected dirt will cling to your UV light make it less functioning.
I love how you made it.. Ispiring.. I've got one question tho.. What pump you're using on your pond?
Nice 1 sir merry christmas
Likewise bro, Merry Christmas to you and your family
Can i use this in a 7000ltr pond? And what should be the flow rate of submersilble water pump, Please reply❤
hi just wondering what size of orange pipe did you use on this project and what pump, thanks
Nice video
Fish be with you 😊
Very informative video, what brand of submersible pump do you use?
Thanks Anna, in this video I was using the Aquaspeed A4000. I'd recommend the Rio 12HF though it's a better submersible. More expensive but performance is really better.
Kaya po ba nang A4000 ang ganyan water flow sir? BTW Ganda nang vid, nakakainspire haha
Nice
Great video 🤟
if the drum 1 mechanical getting clogged
then the water will overflow ?
How did the water go inside the drum? Are you using electricity ?
I would love to see video about building your pond If you have one
Hello Otto, it's still tentative but I am collecting data now on my pond construction. It's not a lot yet but when I get enough I'll do a short video about it.
This is very interesting. Thank you for sharing your ideas. I will be doing the same soon. Just want to know what submersible pump did u use? I am planning to build a 6X4X4 pond, what pump should I buy?
Heya Crom, you're welcome. The water volume for the 6x4x4 is around 2,718 liters. I'd recommend you try either the Periha PB-5000 or the Rio 12HF. Those are top of the line choices for you.
@@thekoipondexperience1259 thank you! I hope that I can do this as well as u did.
@@thekoipondexperience1259 Hi Sir! Can you please recommend what submersible pump would be good on a 7x4x1 pond? Thank you
Just asking if you encounter any serious pump problem & the difficulty in cleaning the pump in this drum filter system?
Hello, so far the pump has been easy to to maintain. A basic disassemble then cleaning of the impeller then reassemble. Works just as usual.
Were you experiencing some pump problem? Can you share it to me?
Nice video sir. Can i ask what size is the pipe? Thanks
NICE IDEA...
Wonderful video! Curious where you got the plastic strainers from?
Thank you Terry, I got those from a textile store here in my location.
Tuloy tuloy lang po ba Yung submersible pump o nag rest din?
Hi, I love your video, simple, affordable and beautiful. By the way, where did you buy the UV light?
Thanks for the the compliments GG, appreciate it. Sourced the UV Lights from a local shop my area. I am from Zamboanga City, Philippines, ICYI.
Salinity of the water can effect that system If i have sea water fish..ty
You're welcome Jojo
What is the lph of the submersible pump?
Sir plan ko sana gumawa ng aquaponics with koi as my fish.
Can we not use K1 or K2 in the biological drum instead of those stones you used in your 2nd drum?
Hello Sylvester, you can definitely use K1 or K2 as your biological media. That would actually be one of the best option. Cause the self cleaning feature of a moving bed filter is really efficient and I'm a great fan of the setup. It's a dream setup for me.
@@thekoipondexperience1259 Thanks. I am enjoying watching your posts. Keep it up.
Good work brother. For the biological did you use any order in the arrangements?
Secondly the issues I have with my water is likely to different from yours how will I make correct choice of biological materials. Thanks
Anu po pinag waterproof nyo sa pond? yung sa hollowblock walls ng pond and floor na rin?
Thoroseal gamit ko. Eto watch mo hanggang 1:40

I was wondering about using crushed limestone and biochar
It'll work too. Bacteria would still stick to to the the limestone. On biochar, what is that? I don't know what it is.
@@thekoipondexperience1259 they cook wood to remove all the water looks like coal or charcoal, Activated Carbon Filter Media pretty much all the same media
@@otrotland5377 activated charcoal I am aware of. But not biochar. Activated charcoal is not a biological media. It has a different filtering property but not biological.
You can use it as well if want to. But personally, I prefer biological media. Cause the bacteria in them takes care of the ammonia & nitrites. As to the activated charcoal, I have very limited experience with them.
@@thekoipondexperience1259 coal is made from plants over thousands of years
gagawin ko to!!!
Where did you get the bags for the stones?
Why not use 5 gallon bucket filters and use bio balls?
Awesome
Thank you
Good evening Sir, awesome design. Quick question. I have a 1200 gallon tank that I’m planning to raise 100 Tilapia, would this design work ?
The same design will work my friend however the size of these drums is small. If you can find larger drums and them make a set of at least 3 drums then I believe its suffcient. Assuming of course you are diligent in cleaning the mechanical filters as often as possible.
So a 3 drum design, meaning 2 drums for mechanical filtration and 1 for biological ? Also when you say cleaning, do you mean, using the drain valve to flush out the water or actually taking out the filter media and washing it individually? Any advice would be really helpful, thank you a lot for your help.
@@shujaatali4728 2 is to 1 drum is correct. And cleaning is just pulling out the nets from the mechanical filter and cleaning it thoroughly. The drum of the mechanical filter must be cleaned as well. Then not touching the 2 biological filters.
Thank you for your reply, so 1 mechanical filter and 2 biological filter? And one more question, how often does the filter needs to be cleaned? Really appreciate you taking the time to reply.
@@shujaatali4728 Try cleaning it once a week first. Then if you think it gets too dirty if left that long then try adjusting it to cleaning it every 4 days.
Is the UV light need to be there 24/7 ?
Good day ,ano po brand ng aerator or air compressor nyo?thanks
Resun yung brand
Does this filter reduce nitrates as well with the growth of anaerobic bacteria?
Nitrates would be removed by the bacteria inside the Lava Rocks but not all nitrates.
Partial water changes would still have to be done to constantly bring Nitrates at acceptable levels.
Forgot to ask, is the smaller pipe 3/4 inch?
You're correct Terry it's 3/4. But if you can fit the 1 inch it's a better choice. For better water flow.
Wow nice beautiful
Newby here, why do we have to install a UV light?
Hi very informative videos . If its alright to ask whats your treatment for koi diseases.? My koi have stingy white poop. i think its fish diarrhoea. Have you tried treating the same. Hope you can share. Thanks in advance
Hello Dave, apologies for the very late reply. How are your kois now? Are they still exhibiting those things you previously described to me?
A check valve would have solved yoour back flow problem and would have enabled you to clean the design up
That is correct my friend. However I've done that before. In time this is what will happen to the check valve after debris from fish poops collect in its assembly. When that starts to happen even the check valve itself starts to fail and water will then start to flow back from the drum to the pond little by the little.
I made a video on how to clean this drum my friend, no short cuts in my cleaning method just full on effort.
Is that 2 inch orange pipe?
Is submersible pump A3000 is enough for this filtration?
A true rated 3,000 liters per hour pump will do fine. However consider other brands of submersible pump like Seabillion, Resun, Hailea, Periha or Rio HF.
The reason, please watch this video:
czcams.com/video/h6EqaryLmQU/video.html
Anong submersible ung gamit nyo po sir?
Can I use this in a 2,000-3,000 gallon pond with large koi carps? If not how many of these will I need?
If I may suggest. You'd need the full size drum and at the least need 3 of those big drums. They come in blue color and are also plastic. Those 3 will be pure biological filters.
For mechanical filtration you can use this white Chlorine container you see in this video. Small is better so can easily clean it periodically, like every weekend or everyday of that is possible for you. Use fish nets are mechical filtration media and have 2 sets ready. When you do cleaning, pull out the dirty nets the swap the clean set of nets back in and you're done.
@@thekoipondexperience1259 I was planning on using the big blue drums a total of 6.
A) 2 mechanical filtration drums
B) 1 UV Light Drum
C) 3 Biological filtration drums.
@@abyankabir1910 I like your idea. Continue with your planning process but this right here is a good start.
Then prepare the items and tools you need for the build. So that on the day your do the DIY your execution will go with minimal interruption. Take your time in making the build, no rush.
@@thekoipondexperience1259 thanks for your reply. I will be asking a lot of questions here. I hope you don’t get annoyed. Btw I was thinking if I can use plastic pot scrubbers and red bricks for biological filtration?
@@abyankabir1910 red bricks is something new to me, as long as they are inert they are ok. Some use pebbles. Plastic scrubs are ok as well, I've seen those used a lot.
But are Pumice Stones and Lava Rocks unavailable in your area? Those are good options as well. Try to check a video I made for Pumice Stones and Lava Rocks.
Can plz share water pump power/ Watt or per hour flow rate
What kind of water pump you use?
what model of submersible pump did you use for this?
Sir san mo nilagay pump?
May i know if this Drum Filter work for a 20,000 liter pond or i have to make larger 1
Hello Ken! This same white drum is too small for a 20,000 liter drum. You'd need the bigger blue drums and then set-up at least 4 of them in the filter system for that 20,000 liter pond.
@@thekoipondexperience1259 I see! Thanks for the fast response. One last question, for 20,000L pond, is that means I need at least a 15000 - 20000L/H water pump for better water circulation?
@@MrKenz6900 That is correct. 20,000 liters per hour would be really nice for it.
And then of course supplement that with a powerful air pump and your pond's water movement would really be sufficient to keep dissolved oxygen at close to ideal levels.
@@thekoipondexperience1259 Thanks!!
Hello sir pwede ba ani setup sa goldfish?
Yes this can be used for goldfish set-up too. I would do it soon.
I don’t see any algae in your pond . How do you keep it out?
The roof on my pond really is reason. It blocks direct sunlight. But I do have algae on my pond walls, it's quite thick actually. But I have no string algae like most ponds with direct sunlight hitting all day.
What's the use of the pump
Where to buy that kind of drum?
