However, if I’m on a mountain I would not want to risk this. You mostly have to walk 7 hours back or longer depending. An extra pair of laces for normal boots is also not something I do bring along however I can imagine it be easier to solve. But if these boots could also handle it I’d definitely have them, I believe the loops are large enough to use normal laces. What you suggest should be doable.

If there was a way to replace the lace or repair the boa it's be perfect. If it breaks you just have to lace them up like a normal shoe
