    See, i have the 0.7mm/0.9mm version of the DV1S because of the cerakoting i do, which comes with M1 micro cap. The fan just doesn't open up wide at all. I recently got the S1 cap and a 1.2mm nozzle and i really like it for smart repair and painting benchrifle stocks. Especially with clear coat. I liked my walcom ego190 hte better, but it only lasted 15 months, which got used almost 7 days a week. Now, after getting the s1 cap, i like it as good if not better than the ego190 while the ego190 was in working condition. Both atomize very well with clear and spray cerakote amazingly with 0.7mm nozzles. DV1 also is built so solid with no gasket in between the nozzle and frame like older devilbiss have which i like they got rid of that gasket.

      Hi Buddy, They still use a gasket between the baffle and body on the DV1. The difference now is that it's under the two small screws in the baffle, so very rarely needs to be removed.

    Another mini i am going to try is the porphis prd-51 mini that is available in 0.8mm for cerakote. Since i got the prd-715 1.3mm and PHS-155 1.8mm for primer just to try and use them more than both my DV1-B and DV1-C now. I feel for $200 that prd-51 is worth trying

      I have the PRD 510 in 1.0. It's a good gun. the biggest drawback for some will be its full size, so it's quite big for its output, other than that it's very good.
      Porphis are working on a good quality mini gun, so small size mini. It was originally due in April but is held up, presumably while they get it right. Cheers, mate 👍

    i brought one of gf3's and you have to respect they are what they are, (i use mine on small easy to polish areas at work) they do leave quite a peel compared to the dv1s, but i found winding the needle right in and cranking up that air pressure you can get a better finish also go round the job slower with less paint coming out. as much as i do like the dv1s that ive used a good couple times ( i dont own one) i think its very comparable to the Ani R160 1.2 although i might be bias i love my R160 and the finish from it its flawless (i do run it at 4bar). great video by the way.

      Hi Mitch, for the money they do work well, your right in that the R160 and the GF3 both need a fair bit if pressure.
      My main reason for doing these videos with the cheap guns is the hope people will see them and pick one up inside of spray can's, it just so much better and gives you loads more flexibility with the materials you use, thanks for watching mate, much appreciated 👍

    Hi Pete, The DV1S is not that bad price wise when you consider it is only $50 more expensive (not 60% anymore) than a prolite s, but comes with a gauge and a second tip.

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  Před 20 dny +1

      Hi Ken, I guess it depends where you are. Yes, you get a tip, but in Europe, we don't get a gauge .
      Having said that, the price of the Pro Lite S has gone up a bit and the DV1S has stayed the same.
      You can normally get a good price on the Pro lite S but not on the DV1S, so they are often around 80GBP more expensive, so around 110 USD, but I completely take your point, there's not much in it any more 👍

    That’s a nice comparison you can see a slight difference but not much really, I used my GF3 at 2bar which would have helped it atomise better if I used it at the 3.5 bar instead good little gun for the money I must admit.

Only done a set of multi spoke o.z wheels with it so far but it seemed pretty good. Got a tr1 bike tank and panels to do this week with it so will see how it gets on.

    @JohnWD40TC02 Před rokem

    Hi Pete, that was an interesting comparison this is why I love your videos as most people would compare like for like but these videos really give you a good idea of what the difference is between a top end and a budget gun which apart from the obvious build quality is not a huge cavernous difference.
    You can see in the video that the DV1S performs better and is easier to use and that it has a better fan pattern, looking at this a different way which would last longer, one DV1S or 13 ANI GF3 guns which I think come out at around the same price, I wouldn't like to call it tbh🤔🤷‍♂
    As you know I have the DV1S but I still say it's not really worth the asking price even though I won mine😎(sorry Pete had to get that in AGAIN!!!😆) You can see at the end that the GF3 gives a little more peel than the DV1 but it's not 13 times worse, ok I better shut up as I'm rambling again😁cheers Pete🙏👍

      @peteshobbies5383  Před rokem +1

      Hi John, yes, there is a difference but it's only small, the ANI is perfectly acceptable.
      I do these hoping that someone will see it, well, at least one person has, you 😂, but to see it and realise that with relatively little money there is a real alternative to spray can's, not for one-off jobs of course but if people have a bit to do then it's so much more flexible, anyway mate, glad someone watched it 😉 😀 👍

      TBH mate I think anything is better than rattle cans, I have used them and even sprayed a complete wing a few years back on one of Sonia's cars done the primer base and 1K clear with them but never again!🙈😂
      I think for someone starting out buying three GF3 guns and modifying one as you did to use for high build by drilling the tip out you would then have a primer, base and clear gun for under £100, I might even sell all my posh guns and do just that!🤔😲😆

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  Před rokem +1

      Hi Mark, it depends on what pressure you use it at, but ANI say 2.8 cfm at 1 bar up to 7.9 cfm at 4 bar, I don't normally go up to 4 bar but 3.5 bar is often needed for clear which would be around 7 cfm

      @Pete's Hobbies Thanks Pete, I'm so frustrated as bought a 50l comp yesterday at 11.4 cfm, but then realised it only has 4.4 FAD. I'm trying to move from rattle cans and trying to set myself up for the odd smart repair on my car and wife's car but finding the jump so confusing. I know the process of bodywork repair but have always wanted to move away from rattle cans. Really enjoying your videos BTW. Thanks

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  Před rokem +1

      The normal rule of thumb is around 60% for free air delivery, so a stated 11.4 cfm should give more than 4.4 cfm fad.
      It really depends on how much you have to do. If it's just a panel at a time, you will be fine. It will take around 25 seconds for the compressor tank to click in for more air on a 50L tank and you can do loads in that time, then you can still carry on but you air supply will slowly drop, my guess is you would get around 1 minute of pressure, you can do a lot in that time.
      Get yourself a regulator with a diaphragm. This will even out the pressure at the gun so you won't get air pressure drop off as the tank runs down

    • @MarkRuiz521
      @MarkRuiz521 Před rokem

      @Pete's Hobbies Thanks Pete, I was very surprised at this comp (Draper Stormforce 81710). Having 4.4 from 11.4 is only 35% efficiency!!!!. I think I will go for the ANI GF3 as a start. Would you recommend a 8mm-10mm ID airline with 1/4 fittings?

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  Před rokem

      8mm should be fine, if you using Euro fast couplings they are around 8mm so there's no need for bigger, that's what I have and run some pretty air hungry guns without problems
