Lakers in 17
is 17 the difference in trip to the line. Because 17 games only widens the gap between them, doesn't bring the Lakers closer.

I foresee Peyton Watson being a difference maker in this series. Surprised that I haven’t seen anyone call out his defense being a big difference between last years squad and this one. He’ll be extremely disruptive in the non Jokic minutes
Nuggets in five. Lakers will win one game not because Lakers played well but because nuggets made too many defensive mistakes, It will humble the Nuggets and get them to refocus and locked in and from there Lakers won’t to stand a chance.
Kinda like what happened to Miami in the finals when they won game two because nuggets made way too many defensive mistakes and the Nuggets got humbled and needed to refocus their attention. I think that’s what’s gonna happen in this Laker series, nugget to get too confident too comfortable and make too many mistakes, and then the Nuggets say “fuck that that’s not gonna happen a second time” and the Nuggets blow them out every game after that.
That is my super specific prediction of the series
this is disrespectful. nuggs in 4. the hell with mistakes, they wont make mistake. same as last year. period
I can see that happening. The Nuggets handle the Lakers in the first two games in Denver. Then the Lakers win game three and the NBA media declares the Lakers have now figured out the Nuggets. All you hear for two days is how the Lakers are now in control of the series.... and Coach Malone lights a fire under their ass, the Nuggets refocus, and smash the Lakers for a 4-1 series win.

If LeBron and AD show out and play their best game, Denver wins in 5.

THEIR BEST GAMES, and THEY WIN🤡💩
The idea that Jokic didn't shoot as well this year is supported by the overall numbers but he's been smoking on his jump shots and 3's since the all star break. He does this every year. Ramps up the perimeter shooting near the end of the season and then kills it in the playoffs. He's a career 41% from 3 in the playoffs, is the 7th leading ppg playoff scorer of all time, has the 7th best true shooting % all time in the playoffs, and is top 20 in both playoff rebounds and assists per game all time. I see no reason to believe this playoffs will be any different.
I do think he's not shooting quite as well as last year which was history efficiency for the type of shot he takes. He's so good gotta knock him for something

Thanks for the education on how to watch the series. Love your videos. I don't even bother watching other analysts any more. Keep it up!
I always see a lot of Laker fans say this time will be different because the nuggets won hit "miracle shots", but they never acknowledge AR shooting 55% from 3 that series, hitting multiple bank shot 3s along with multiple clutch threes, Rui having an absurd 2 game stretch where he averaged 19 points on over 80%ts, or Lebron throwing a lob into the basket. They also act like Bruce was the only reason Dlo was ass, but the thing is, KCP was on Dlo more than Bruce was. Anyways, nuggets in 5
Lakers haven’t give us any reason to believe that they’ll even Win one game cause they lost what 8 straight against Denver . Bro you gotta keep it real.
Finally doing actual video footage. W 💪🏽
Lakers are going to win all the moral victories in this series. 4-0 Denver all over again, no drama.

The moral victory thing is so cringe. Come up with something else
Since March 13th the lakers have played 13 out of 17 games against play in or worse teams. Their record was 12-5 which is good but you still have to consider the level of their opponents. They only had 2 wins against opponents ranked higher than a 6th seed in which they had a record of 3-2 with wins against the Pacers, Bucks and Cleveland.

People want the nuggets to go down so bad so the lakers and Celtics can maintain the status quo of the nba, it’s so boring. I’m excited seeing new teams rising to the top
What "people" are you talking about?? I haven't heard one person in the media picking Lakers over Denver. NOBODY is picking Lakers over Denver.

Realistically, teams like OKC, Denver and Wolves are boring from a narrative perspective. Teams like the Lakers sell because they’re more polarising. Even Wemby gets more airtime than those teams.

Mailbag: Jokic is 19th in free throw attempts per game, but 10th in points in the paint. Of those in ahead of him in FTA's but behind him in PITP are Anthony Edwards, Lebron James, Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, DeMar DeRozan, Zion Williamson, Paolo Banchero, Jaren Jackson Jr, and maybe more... I ran out of room before I was asked to pay. Plus, Jokic has as many or more games played than almost all of these guys. Anyway, why do you think Jokic doesn't get the FTAs the others do and what do you think he could do different to get those FTAs? Love the show & watch nearly every episode... Keep it up, yo.
Jokic is shooting over people. Not a lot of room for fouls there. Im surprised he's shooting as many free-throws as he is.
Nah, Jok gets fouled prolly 50%+ of possessions. It's ridiculous, really.
flop to get more free throws, like embiid
@@andremiller1566so Joel Emweak shoots below people?? F off. Joker's arms full of scars. Lakers will drive home soon. 😂
You're not accounting for the fact that Jokic converts like 70-75% of his paint attempts. So he shoots less frequently in the paint when compared to his counterparts who score an equal amount of points in the paint. For example, Jokic was a top ten scorer this year while only being #19 in FGA per game.
Jamal has made it a point to dramatically improve his defense, I'd not count on trying to "target" him on D it'll bite em. GO NUGGETS!
For real. He has improved drastically. I pray DLo tries to target him. He’ll lose his confidence and get played off the floor even faster
I predict 50 free throws a game for the Lakers.
Drive to the rim as much as the lakers do, get fouled like they do, and maybe youd get them too
Lol okay, guess the lakers are the only team that drives to the paint. Not like Zion took over 20 shots in the paint and still had less free throws then Lebron. I'm sure its a total coincidence lmao@th3b3astmodz1

Reggie Jackson has a record of 6-0 against the Lakers between April 17, 2022 and April 17, 2024.
Bron wins a chip every 4 years
@@alphal6775 omg yes now i realize that
Are you trying to say Reggie Jackson beat the Lakers ? That’s an empty stat …
Omg Reggie don't miss against LA smh
Reggie Jackson's lackluster play this year may be the sole reason the Lakers' chances improve....conversely, the two respective X factors of Rui and MPJ will determine who wins this series.
Good analysis, but the Reaves/Murray is off...Reaves can't shake Murray, and can't check him...
Darvin Ham watching and taking notes 😂
“Do I trust Darvin ham to do that.. NO” Jason is a funny guy
Just put Rui on Joker, that will do it.
That’s right. That was the solution for the joker problem last playoff run
Exactly did that last year & Rui got manhandled by Joker ..Rui is built like Honda civic ..& Joker is built like a Hummer
Nice breakdown… We need to get an answer for PNR (Murray & Jokic)
Jamal Murray had one of his best series ever with DS on him lol... So it cant get much worse..
Right
Hopefully Denver eliminates Lakers in the 1st round so we can get some objective, non-delusional analysis for the rest of the post season.
This is one of those series where I can see the path for a Lakers win, but it's so narrow and treacherous that it's basically a clicheic "anything can happen" type of thing.
It's basically the Cavs against the Warriors in 16/17, where I can see a series with LeBron going 28-11-9, AD being 25-15-3 with 3 blocks per game, plus DLo and Reaves combining for 30-35 points a game in good efficiency and ball handling... and the Lakers still losing in 5.
So you’re saying this nuggets team is as good as the KD warriors? Lmfao how high are you
i feel like it’s about decision making and defensive attentiveness than talent disparity also how much darvin yam rolling out prince and reddish when they aren’t playing well not calling timeout when the team is on a 30-0 run but we will see
@@sfcSpidey
Yeah. The coaching disparity between Ham and every coach worth a damn is definitely not talked about nearly enough because the knee jerk reaction is "yOu aRe mAkInG eXcUsEs", as if we didn't see a team with 2 All-NBA players and 3 other guys that would start for 80% of the teams in the league go under .500 for nearly two months in no small part because their coach refused to make changes to the starting lineup.
With that precedent you can't trust him not to say "oh, let's play 3 minutes a game of some random lineup that is gonna get outscored by 12 and completely bury the work the starters have done of keeping it close or even getting a lead".
You’re not accounting for the lopsided free throw differential the lakers are about to have. So factor that in too.
@@cjgonzales8588
No, thats not what I'm saying, you need to work on reading comprehension skills. Comparing two situations doesn't mean that every single element is exactly the same.
If you need me to spell it out what I'm saying is that the gap in skill between these two teams is similar to the one between the Curry/KD Warriors and the Lebron/Kyrie Cavs. The Cavs were a great team that against any other opponent would have had at worst a 50/50 chance of winning, as they showed the year prior by beating the 73 wins Warriors, but once those same Warriors added KD Cleveland became basically fodder with a minimal chance of winning a series against them unless some catastrophic injury or something of the sort happened.
Nugs in 5
I’m a Denver fan and I see this series as 50/50. Lakers have really built better cohesion, Murray and probably not going to go off like he did, the difference may be Jokic and our coaching staff
Murray is an all-time big game riser and that isn't going to change now. Nuggets in 5, if not another sweep.
That double drag action with bron Dlo and AD is lethal.
The path for the lakers to win is basically the Morgul Veil from Lotr.
Their biggest problem against the nuggets is discipline. Jokic and Murray will score and make the individual defense look silly at times, that doesn’t mean to start gambling on passes and leaving shooters wide open. Last series was decided by guys like KCP and MPJ providing that cushion for late game 4th quarter margin so Murray and jokic could go to work.
Jason, you totally ignored MPJ's firepower and defense. Lebron can not leave MPJ on the perimeter because MPJ pu ishes instantly if he gets a smaller defender. And when Lebron is camping on the perimeter, that means that AD has no help in the paint.
Second, MPJ will start on AD in position, Jokic will play the role of the helping / secondary defender and grabs the rebounds.
MpJ and aaron gordon really what give lakers and other team fits super athletic and can guard smaller and bigger players also mpj jumps 12 feet in the air and makes 10/10 shots
I feel like Gordon is so much smarter now on defense. He’s proved that this regular season
J. Would you not recommend having a C. Wood on the floor on Gordon? He can provide spacing; rebounding; length; and would do a good job on MPJ or Gordon. Provided that he is healthy enough to play of course.
LETS GO! PLAYOFF hoops tonight the best time of year Lol
Lakers attempting to beat the Nuggets is like Wile E. Coyote chasing down the Roadrunner. Just when it looks as though he may be able to reach out with his claws, it just goes "meep meep" and zips away, leaving him in the dust

Never really been a Nuggets fan, especially in the old days when Kobe and the Lakers battled them in the playoffs, but what I really like is they have a certain humility and even keeled attitude. They do talk smack sometimes but after they've earned it, where as the current Lebron Lakers celebrate a bit too much on small things.
Nuggets in 5 sadly being generous with the 5

Last year in the WCF, the Laker bench outscored the Nuggets bench in all four games. In two of the four games, the Lakers bench combined BPM was better than Denver's. The Nuggets starting 5 averaged 102.75 ppg while the Lakers starters averaged 89.75 points per game. Denver's starters combined average BPM per game was a + 37.5. While the Lakers starters were at a - 33.5 per game.
I think this series comes down to the starting 5. Whoever has the best starting 5 will be the first to 4 wins.
Look here the Lakers not winning nothing if the team doesn't get 30 plus free throws. The whole world knows that
The fact that lakers is more offensively minded this year is important. You HAVE TO beat denver by outscoring them. Jokic’s offense especially in the clutch is inevitable in the sense that either they have a great look by an open man or jokic shoots a high percentage shot close to the rim. It does not matter who your rim protector is, which was why lakers won games last year, but was also completely negated when facing nuggets. Lakers this year will have a harder time beating other teams because of defense, but also a real puncher’s chance against denver. How did phoenix win 2 games against them? By getting insanely hot offensively
Best case scenario for the Lakers: Darvin Ham gets hospitalized and can't coach them and they play so much better without him there that he gets fired. Second best case scenario as a Lakers fan: they get swept and Darvin Ham gets fired. Worst case scenario: Lakers win series and Darvin Ham keeps his job one more season.

Jason you're the man, is their any reason Lebron doesnt matchup hunt KCP and murray? I think the lakers are missing out on taking advantage of this strategy, especially for DLO to keep him engaged, or ever run screen rolls to keep Jokic involved.
Because he can't or refuses to expend sustainable energy on defense....that's like asking a hunter that can't shoot to hunt.

The Nuggets didn’t play a single team in the post season that won over 45 games last year. Thats absurd and not talked about enough when you talk about their title run. Not saying they weren’t the best in the league, but they had a SUPER easy path. There were 8 teams with better records than the best team they had to play. This season 45 wins doesn’t even get you in the play-in. Did you not see that LeBron ran out of gas last night and shot 6 for 20? And now he's facing a much, much better team? Why predict that LeBron will be different this time?
Cuz he's getting 4 days off. And 2-3 days in between each game. He's played do or die basketball for the last month. He finally gets to relax and fill up the tank.

The Lakers need to start Hayes at center and AD at Power Forward this series. Let's AD defend Aron Gordon and play help defense. Bring Rui off the bench. When Hayes gets in foul trouble then and only then you move AD back to center. If the Lakers follow this formula they'll win the series.
only problem with that is that you need rui to start for the offense and defense. hayes takes away too much offense and his size isnt enough to offset that sadly
@@yadonjohnson6209 AD is going to get in foul trouble guarding the Joker. If that happens it is over.
Fascinating breakdown. Lakers could throw a wrench in the universe if the refs decide to favor them with 25-30 trips to the foul line per game. That's free money with no time off the clock.
Mailbag question:
Hey Jason, i think the lakers should put austin on MPJ and put lebron on jamal murray for defense. I think austin is fast enough to keep his body on MPJ and lebron can bully jamal. Maybe not for the whole series but maybe just if jamal starts cooking. What do you think?
MPJ will shot 15 3's over Reaves. And Jamal will beat LBJ on feet.
@martongere5992 hard disagree. Austin can't disrupt mpj base when shooting. And lebron if he puts the effort in can keep up with jamal. Plus it negates the 2 man jamal and joker game
People are seeing this series as foregone conclusion but has potential to be an upset. No Schroeder as point of defence, Bron not having poor shooting form, no Bruce Brown and most important Murray had an outlier of a series last time.
