I'm driving an Audi A3 8P1 and it's from 2009. It still looks so modern with its Xenon head beams and LED lights at the back. Audi and their lights are truly worth every penny and u should always get the best option.

Get a busch + muller headlight
You can put those headlights on your bicycle.
@@nizm0man Busch and Mueller might have good layered beam distribution without overly bright nearfield/foreground illumination but they are virtually not modifiable so it's impossible to swap out the emitters for 3200k 95cri and high r9 value which is more important while cycling to spot leaves and animals on the road which isn't that much of a hazard for cars. The fact that it's a hard time for the eye to focus on light with too much blue content in the spectrum in combination with Purkinje effect at low light levels is another factor but Busch and Mueller is making excuses in the name of style and misguided perception of seemingly higher efficiency.
The Audi's light itself is state of the art. I don't think any other brand come close other than MB on the S class.

From what I've heard, the Mercedes projection lights work in more environments, such as those where pedestrains may be encountered. Too bad the Audi portion of the video did not have better explaination.
Either way, wondering when this type of headlighting will become common on transport trucks.

@@connectorxp thats why they took so long to bring DMDs on cars. car electronics have way higher standards than consumer grade ones. and hella is indeed behind this. i think since led headlights became standard on most audis, they stopped using valeo
@@jaronyuriyh7931 Hella is "to blame" for the Matrix in Audi and other great headlight innovations, also they did a great job with the Adaptive Bi-Xenon lamps on older models. I have Valeo bi-xenon units fitted on my Auris, they are ok, but quite dumb compared to the ones fitted on Astra J.

Sadly, none of these works in the US even the cars come with the option. My Q8 has the HD matrix headlight but doesn't work. The system still wait to pass the legistration.

@@UserPauli2592 It really 2008 A5, 2008 R8 change the game. The 2007 S6 had 6 dotted LED fog lights as DRL The 2004 Audi A8 W12 top performance model had LED low beam.
A minor front crash and the insurance company will go crazy. Thousands of dollars headlights. And I bet: it will glare other drives in some conditions. Very strong lights in a not perfect system.
Why the heck are these Matrix Lights still not legal in the US yet??
Because people buy them in tall vehicles then aim them at head hight here

Audi is in the process of petitioning the US for use here. They don't conform with our outdated standards . They are to advanced for us...

@@Nabilllllll yes they did, while audi was doing the matrix lights in 2013 for the first time, bmw hurry it up and they basically took the patent that AUDI made in 2012.. You can check that out.. Making the bmw i8 first car with matrix leds following audi a month or so later with r8, but still audi is leading the way when it comes to light tech.. Everyones now buying their patents, especially for digital lighting which they also first made and put out in a production car
@@nino_kO1 actually Audi was the first manufacturer to introduce matrix LEDs altogether. They introduced them in their LMP1 cars for the FIA WEC with their R18 prototypes.

My guess is...who made it first? Bosch or any other supplier...and any OEM uses it...slightly adapted.

Mercede has more funcionalities.
The technologies are very similar but can't be compared. You can't say Audi or Mercedes won or Audi did it first, because theese are not Audi or Mercedes only technologies. The technologies are from other supliers and it's a very high chance that both sistems are made by the same company.
Even if they are similar it doesn't mean that they can be campared în the way they are advertised because the video shows the advertisements from Audi and Mercedes. Advertisements contain marketing so the car can perform better or worse.
În conclusion neither Audi nor Mercedes won it remains to see how they really perform in reality.
And one more thing you can curently buy the Mercedes car ,the new s class, with the amazing new headlight while Audi's car, the e-tron sportback isn't on the market yet so we can't say Audi was first as I saw în the majority of the other coments.

I saw prototypes for new A8. The highest version of head lights include same technology as in the video plus matrix fog light. Same supplier for both car makers.
Audi doesn't compete with mercedes. It competes with bmw and jaguar.
Mercedes competes with Bentley and Rolls Royce.

It's like Audi doing something like R8 e-tron as e-tron isn't a separate company competing separately. The Audi competes well with the S-Class along with other premium low yield vehicles.
