Kemper and Toby head deep into the Sangre De Cristos for a quick overnight trek. From a majestic sunset, beautiful astrophotography, epic sunrise, to some of the most unique terrain in Colorado. This Backpacking trip did not disappoint.

I’m 65 now , did some growing up in those Mountains for sure. First backpacking trip in there was 50 years ago, the days drag bye and the years fly
I'm 70 now and grew up in the southern end of the Sangre de Cristo's at the foot of the Spanish Peaks.
Went up there back in the 90s. My buddy learned a valuable lesson on packing light. Full on calf cramps about 2/3rds of the way up with an 80 lb pack, and about 50 lbs of it he didn’t need. Beautiful area and a great memory for me
80lbs? the fuck was he carrying?
@@adamzetek785 old metal tripod for a camera, camera, canvas tarp, old school sleeping bag, about 20 lbs in food, beer, Coleman lantern. It all got left behind some willows and picked it up on the way down
I live there! Cool that you hiked at night. Yes, those mountains go strait up!
Me too!
The red flower he took a picture of is know by me as an Indian Paintbrush.
Cool video! Love the intro. Its soooooo fun to go look for waterfalls when it rains. I just filmed one but not sure when I will get time to edit the video.
Nice job. I live in the town below, but haven't been up there yet. Feeling inspired.
Great video! Thank you for uploading. I too am an astrophotography enthusiast. It is for all the reasons you gave why I love the area and ended up buying a plot of land there at the Baca Grants. Hope to move out there one day soon. One question - what time of the year did you guys hit this? Just wondering what the mosquito situation was like.
We hiked up there mid-June last year and there were zero mosquitoes... it still got down to 35ish degrees overnight which held them at bay I think
@@summitbid my apologies, just have one other question since I'll be heading here in September. Did you guys use bear cans?
@@Cbermeo75you didn’t ask me but it seems like common sense to carry bear spray 👍
DANG whats in the bag? I used to go big. Then switched to a 40L bag for multiday stuff. Works great. I can carry all my camera gear too. Its a lot more comfortable.
Dude, SHHHHHHHHHSH
Colorado's biggest Secret ? Not any more thanks in part to your video ! We dont need any more tourists !
It's a shame you say that because I grew up in the Sangre's and most of that area depends on tourism for its economy.
@@russellkeeling4387nah. We’re fine without the tourists
