    you don't need an "ally: status = KO" for phoenix downs. using "ally: any" will cause them to only be used on KO'd allies anyway. any status-removing item with "ally: any" is only used when it is needed.

    • @ThunderWolfy
      @ThunderWolfy Před 5 lety +52

      basically the whole game u need like 6 gambits:
      Ally:any, -> for buffs (shell, protect, buble, float,regen,etc) , and status cures (Esuna,dispel), to revive.
      Ally:HP to cure people
      Self,: I dont use it, cause ally any does the self part to:
      Enemy:nearst,-> attack,
      Enemy:HP=100%,-> steal (or whatever hp u want, maybe >70%)
      Bonus:
      Enemy:flying -> to make them come down :)
      Enemy:undead. -> to cast a pheonix down on him

    I waited till I had access and full control of every characters before giving them a job. Had to spent a lot on healing pots, antidotes, stuff like that but didn't need to spend at all on gear since no jobs were assigned. The part I had the most trouble is where these bots were sucking power from generators, forgot the name of the place. It's a long road down there and if the power meter somehow reached to zero percent things got uglier but still made it without too much trouble. Once I was done with that chapter I made a separate file for future plays in case I wanted to replay the game trying different jobs since it's at a very early stage of the game.
    This game is sooo good. I don't get why it got bad reviews compared to other ffs. It's new and refreshing yet it's using the same rules, spells, and lores from other games in the series. Truly a master piece. So far 12, 13 and tactics are my top favorites. Replay value is very high for a traditional rpg game. I give it 9.5 out of ten.

    Actually, you don't need to make Balthier a White Mage to have a healer early on. Fran always comes with the license for White Magic 1 (and Black Magic 1, too) and she has the exact same availability as Balthier, so she can play healer until you get your White Mage if you want someone who joins later to use it.

    • @FrocketGaming
      @FrocketGaming  Před 6 lety +15

      Yeah, I'm not really sure why I preferred Balthier over Fran at the time. There was something minor that swayed my decision at the time but ultimately in my playthrough Penelo became my healer and I went without one early game. I will say, making Penelo a healer + black mage was a bad decision lol.

    • @spacedoyster7686
      @spacedoyster7686 Před 6 lety +4

      I think the official guide recommends him as a White Mage, for some odd reason. Or maybe it's his high speed stat. Can't go wrong with fast spells! Unless speed doesn't affect that. Either way, he can White Mage just fine, but doesn't need to.
      As for putting White Mage and Black Mage on the sams person, I didn't even think about how it would affect their gambits! XD Some other guides pointed out that they jave redundant Licence Boards, so that's always been my excuse. Good job bringing it up!

    • @narfd.8837
      @narfd.8837 Před 6 lety +21

      All females come with the initial white magic license, but White Mage Balthier is a "best pick" for a few reasons:
      1. He has more health than the ladies, making him, your best healer, less fragile.
      2. As most Mages get to 99 Magic anyway, there is no real, big benefit to making for Example Ashe your White Mage over making Balthier your WM
      3. Balthier wastes the least potential on the White Mage (depending on your point of view, he can be second to Fran). He can make use of the Sword-licenses, but you don't miss out on a lot of damage if you use Balthier completely for healing. Fran is a natural pick for Foebreaker, so, as Foebreaker isn't the best combination with a White Mage due to the lack of the third swiftness-license, she is not the best pick (but not a terrible one either, if you use other jobs to strenghen your healing capabilities)
      4. Balthier can steal! White Mages don't always have something to do, so stealing is a good option to earn gil. Vaan (and Fran) has stealing as well, but Vaans extremely well-rounded stats are better used on natural hybrid-jobs like Samurai, Monk or Knight, where his Magic and Strenght both come to good use. A white Mage Vaan is a great healer, numerical even better than Balthier, but you compromise Vaans damage-potential with white magic as he just cannot do damage and healing at the same time and sometimes its just better to have only healing gambits active in harder fights to avoid the stun time attacks bring with them (0,2 seconds of stun time can be the deciding factor in a tough battle), which wastes his strenght completely

    I'm concerned that you didn't explain how the concurrences are determined.
    for those who want to know:
    Concurrences are not based on how long your chain is, but what you managed to do in that chain. making it controllable(if you want to get the sky pirate den unlock for it). Here is a quick list
    Inferno: 3 1's
    Cataclysm: 6 1's
    Torrent: 2 1's, 2 2's
    Windburst: 4 2's
    Ark Blast: 2 of each tier
    Whiteout: 4 3's
    Luminescence: 3 of each tier
    Black hole: 4 of each tier
    And it checks starting at the bottom of that list and works up. So if you get 3 1's, 3 2's, and 4 3's, you'll get Luminescence instead of Whiteout, even if you were going for whiteout.
    Hope this helps

    I think a better steal gambit combo is:
    Foe: HP70% = Steal
    It usually gives you time to get one or two steals in before your party members damage it to below 70%.
    When it's down to 70% your thief will prioritise attacking it before moving on to steal from another enemy.

    • @Genji_Glove
      @Genji_Glove Před 6 lety +4

      I should note that this works best if your thief is the party leader because otherwise there's no guarantee that your party leader's target and your thief's will be the same.

    Guns: Machinist
    Crossbows: Time Battlemage

    One very important thing that he never talked about is a thing called Monographs. Monographs are very expensive key items in the bazaar that only appear after certain criteria are met. Monographs allow enemies of a certain type to begin to drop certain items that are generally more useful. Monographs are gotten mostly by talking to shop keepers or looking at The Hunting Boards where you accept hunts a certain number of times. Looking at the board 40 times will unlock 2 monographs. Any shop 100 times will get another. Weapon shops 35(?) times for another. Armor shop 30 times, Magick shop 15 times and so on. The numbers might be off so looking it up is better but you get the idea.

    It seems like an innocuous change, but Gambits got a significant change in that if 2 characters have the same gambit set at the same priority the game will determine which will perform the action first and will only make that character use it.
    So if you have 1 KO'd character and 2 characters have Ally KO - Phoenix Down set as priority 1, the game will only make the character that can perform that action first do so, so that you don't have 2 trying to revive a single character wasting their actions.

    Good tips for beginners, but do not sell all of the loot, except for some items that are realy easy to farm (like bone fragment in lushu mines), the ideal is always to have at least 10 of each and more to the front 20 of each, gensteel for example is very difficult to do, you just get one in the whole game and necessary to make the best no-elemental greatsword of the game and the best katana, the ideal would be to see a list with the items required to enable in the bazaar, you will not believe when to see the weapons that can be achieved at the beginning of the game making sales more intelligent than simply selling everything.

    There are CERTAINLY things you shouldn't sell, especially if you plan on getting ultimate weapons in the end game. The Bazaar isn't smart enough to understand when you sell more components than required, so it's very easy to waste rare loot, forcing more farming (Tournesol nightmares coming back to me)

    • @Xeno_Solarus
      @Xeno_Solarus Před 4 lety +1

    Regarding your advice to make Balthier a White Mage: I like making Fran my White Mage. Her Magic Power is a bit higher than Balthier's, and you get her at the same time as Balthier (I've been using Balthier as a Shikari/Foebreaker or Bushi/Shikari). I might try Balthier as a Shikari/White Mage though. (By the way, these are the job assignments I use: Vaan: Knight/Time Battlemage; Balthier: Shikari/Foebreaker; Fran: Machinist/White Mage; Basch: Bushi/Monk; Ashe: Uhlan/Black Mage; Penelo: Archer/Red Battlemage).
    Regarding your advice on selling loot: I would also refrain from selling any loot required to unlock rare items or weapons in the Bazaar until you are ready (i.e. you have the required number of loot items to unlock), especially since many of these types of loot are rare or hard to come by. This includes (but not limited to): Hell-Gate's Flames, Scarletites, Gemsteels, Emypreal Souls, Soul Powders (definitely, since these are extremely rare until very late in the post-game), Emperor Scales (also definitely, since the enemy that drops this is very powerful), High Arcanas, Mallets, Orichalcums, and Corpse Flies. So if you want to unlock the Mithuna, for example, do not sell any Earth Crystals, Silver Liquids, or Emperor Scales until you have the required number. I recommend this because it's easier to keep track of how much you sold and so you don't have to acquire more loot than necessary.

You’ll need a guide to get what you want but if you do it to get the weapon (a sword) it is the Rune Blade which is the 4th(?) best sword in the game. Decent early but the Karkata is a much better sword that is even easier to get.

      The game tracks how much you have total in stock. Oncew you buy one the memory goes 'down' to zero (known bug, never fixed)
      If you dobt buy them, you keep unlocking stuff without them going out of 'stock'.
      If something on the list sounds attrective, check what it needs. Is it important, one of a kind, very hard to get, ungrindable? Double check if you needed it for something else! It not needed for something else or you can farm em plentiful(think elemental stones, or shards of magicite that drop per 100s)? Just farm more later down the line.

    1 possible correction - Make Fran your White Mage/Time. You get her at the same time as Balthier, but her stats are the worst making her a buff/debuff healer you can spam away on without losing damage making Balthier your White Mage when he has decent physical stats and Monks get access to Curaja anyway for late game, and Knights have Cure and Blind for early game both of which jobs are great for heavy hitters and tanks

    Penelo Monk-Black Mage
    (2) Basch Knight-Foebreaker
    Fran Archer-Time Mage
    Ashe White Mage-Uhlan
    In my opinion this is the most balanced overpowered job setup using all 12 jobs that can be created. A very strong tank for each group, a Hastega caster for each group, and a powerful healer for each group that can also hold their own with physical attacks as well. This is very balanced as group one has a combo oriented tank with potent offensive magic users as well. While group two has the ultimate strength oriented tank as well as a White Mage capable of 15,000-20,000hp attacks depending on equipment. Feel free to try this setup out.

I only really spend LP on skills and just use simple gambits... We win fights but, all these techniques etc, I barely know how they work let alone use them... And gambits are so various, it's overwhelming.. especially as I'm playing it on the switch this time (also own on pc and ps, and heck probably xbox too) and the stupid clicky face buttons make me guilty about playing the game too much... Like for instance, she has the highest Vit stat out of every other character, which contributes to axe, hammer and hand-bomb damage, so I've actually had her be my Foebreaker from time to time. I usually end up making her my Black Mage though, because paired with Monk, she'll eventually start to nuke everything so I don't have to worry about stats. Fran makes a better white mage than Balthier; barely less speed and better magick/mp...in fact, i think balthier is the worst caster in the game stat-wise (Basch has fewer MP but more Magick stat). I know you recommend not to worry about min-maxing, but why not use Fran since Balthier has so much better physical stats and you get them both at the same time, ya know?
    Also, at least on ZA, you don't really need the "Ally Status =" ones. You can use "Ally: Any" with items or esuna or cleanse, etc., and they will only use them when applicable. Of course, for things that cure multiple statuses, those are still useful (e.g. Ally Status = Stop for Chronos Tear).
    There is one area that doesn't auto save when you enter...Zodiark's room. There may be a couple others, too...but that one's the biggest pain lol.

There is a document in the description to assist so you can give them to the people who will give you the most useful abilities. As for the early game healer before Ashe. Yu can just sell 1-2 diamond armlets from the first trial stage and buy a full stock of potions. That will get you through the part until you get ashe (alongside Larsa in the Lhusu mines). That said I still set fran as a healer every playthrough. I always have 2 healers specifically to keep my party levels relatively even. Though a redmage is more than enough with cura, until a kinght or something picks up curaja later. So it's not even needed for that. But I like having it since archers are horribly underpowered in zodiac age, paired with fran natively low stats. Though I only use her when leveling things up.

      I agree, I think this combat system had a lot going for it. I think if you're going to be active combat while controlling 1 character then letting the player determine their party AI is really valuable. A system like this would have made FF15 more enjoyable to me. At the same time, it also runs the risk of trivializing the game and it then becomes up to the player to determine the scope of how challenging they want the content to be which some people don't like.

    Heres my rundown for my character optimizations, these are my opinions over time and multiple playthroughs. May not be the most minmaxxed but they work well to me.
    Love her as a character, but Fran is a team rounder. A jack of all trades master of none. Better suited to keep her as a archer or ulahan and pick a mage class later, make her any kind of mage since her magic attack is lower than even vaan's, and mp is less than the other girls, Her battle strength is rather balanced despite all this, so toss her a good support or go red mage for magical versitility to make her the team rounder. She makes for a good party lead in this case. She has the highest base hp for females
    Vaan technically can function as a mage better than fran having a higher Magic attack but lower mp. I find the shikari/red mage combo his forte. (Team him with the party time mage and white mage and that's your power squad since he holds the line tremendously well.) Again, good party leader as he is another well rounder with higher stats than fran, but lower stats than the males mostly. His speed is second place, so casting and attacks are faster than most. He'll kinda main tank for the team
    Ashe is a good candidate for white mage. since her magic damage is naturally the highest. But i'd suggest black mage instead combined with knight or foebreaker since her higher strength than other ladies plus the higher magic damage make her a magic damage powerhouse with a strong defensive wall.

    Penelo is a perfect white mage, her stats for mp are the highest of the party so that means more heals, magic strength second only to Ashe by 3 points, her speed ties with the other girls at 3rd place. Would suggest knight to make absolute sure she's protected. the abilities obtained via knight give far more defense than others.
    Balthier boasts the fastest speed... really thats kind of it. He's the middle road for males so his strength is there. So you want big damage numbers here since he's bound to land more hits. Would suggest any melee class with Time or red mage. but you cant really go too wrong with him. His attack speed and well rounded stats make him easy to work towards any combo. Oddly this makes him great for a party leader. I'd suggest making him a secondary tank, his faster speeds can help you revive your main team faster.
    Basch is a pure melee, but a low vitality makes him a pure dps. I'd suggest Bushi, with ulahan, or monk. the combos will be his killer and make him absolutely deadly

    Use Fran as your white mage early game she's pretty much a throw away character. Still have penelo as your main healer tho. Give fan a good support sub class like uhlan

      There are plenty of guides online, I would google and see what you can find. I haven't played the game in quite some time now so I don't remember much.

      I'm glad Final Fantasy fans are so passionate but this wasn't intended to offend. I said it light heartedly thinking non - final fantasy veterans may be watching and that would make for a better identifier.

    What i typically do for spells like Protect and Shell, I set them to Ally HP

    • @FrocketGaming
      @FrocketGaming  Před 6 lety

      I would often times find myself turning Protect and Shell off until I knew I was coming up on a boss or putting myself in a particular situation that could kill me.

    • @looots1320
      @looots1320 Před 6 lety

      It's not good because they will keep on refreshing protect and shell whnever your character goes down to 80%, rather just put any-protect then put it under foe-nearest atk

    • @ThundagaT2
      @ThundagaT2 Před 6 lety

      Looots 13 They wont if you have heal gambits set to be prioritized over the protect/shell gambits. If enemies do enough damage to drop you down to the heal gambit threshold, any protect/shell gambits being executed will be canceled and the heal gambits will take over. But like I said, In those cases, I try to find a way to cast it manually. And they will only refresh the spells when they wear off. Any>Protect/Shell, will force your characters to always cast Protect/Shell whenever someone's status wears off. Unless you have it at a lower priority than attacking, in which case they'll wait until after fights to cast it, which kinda defeats the purpose.

    • @looots1320
      @looots1320 Před 6 lety

      what will happen is that the character role will solely be cure and protect/shell, because if it's 80% buff, then your cure above should be around 80+ since if it it's 70% what will happen is enemy does damage but not below 70% so they will buff protect and shell, then 70% curaja, then repeat. it's a bit un-optimized. I'd rather just ally party leader - protectaga/shellga. then just 60% main healer, then 40-50% 2nd healer backup., therefore the main healer can still attack or do something else.

    • @ThundagaT2
      @ThundagaT2 Před 6 lety

      I usually only have one healer in the main party at a time, especially once i get Decoy. And typically they do fine with healing despite the protect gambit. Like i said, if they dont get a chance to do it through gambits, i cast it manually. Gambits dont really have to be optimized unless you're fighting the harder bosses or something. But in those cases i always cast that stuff manually anyways. I can certainly understand if people want to optimize their gambits, and im not claiming my setup works all that well. I just dont like them repeatedly casting it when it wears off, typically if its not needed, like when exploring field areas. I prefer them to not use it until they actually get into fights. I set my gambit to say Curaja HP

    I was away at school when this game was released for Switch. Just got back a week ago and now I'm 16 hrs deep into FFXII again. This game is SOO epic! I just wish that the dungeons and game in general wasn't so blocky-looking. That said, if the game looked as good as FFXIII, then it probably wouldn't have been able to ported to the Switch in the first place!
