I have a slightly simpler path:
sqrt(x) + sqrt(x-9) = 9 sqrt(x)-9 = -sqrt(x-9) -> square both sides and develop
x -18 sqrt(x) + 81 = x - 9 18 sqrt(x) = 90 sqrt(x) = 90/18 = 5 => x=25.
