  • My first recording of this piece is far and away my most viewed piece here on CZcams • Pachelbel - Canon in D... . Which I find interesting b/c as was noted by at least a couple commenters, it "needs work". I've been wanted to get back to it and record a better version for a while. This still "needs work", but I think it's a more credible effort.
As with my earlier recording, this is from a violin arrangement by @benclaptonmusic 2006 benclapton.id.au/2009/03/10/p...
I've been asked in the past to play solo at a few weddings, and one of the brides requested Pachelbel's Canon. I found this arrangement, made a couple of small tweaks for my use on viola. It's a good bit more fun to play than the regular version which is definitely more monotonous.
The sheet music for this arrangement for viola is available here: musescore.com/user/33311356/s...
I've always had a soft-spot for the piece. As a kid, my mom used to put on classical music tapes when we went to bed, many from the Musical Heritage Society. One of them included the Canon played by the Jean-François Paillard Chamber Orchestra, which has ever since been my favorite version. • Jean-François Paillard...

This sounds great! As someone who also plays viola, it makes me glad to see a viola creator as there arent as many out there! :)

Thanks! That's a big goal of mine is to make sure there's more viola content to highlight how fun the instrument can be!

So, the normal processing chain I have removes noise (like the hiss of the air conditioner), normalizes the volume, and adds a little reverb because from what I've seen, videos with reverb tend to be more popular. But I think a more studio like sound is reasonable too. Here's a link (which I'll leave as unlisted) for the same recording without the reverb: czcams.com/video/4tDsgbVeBvc/video.html
