  • Only when I got down to 40 mph did it stop overheating. Heater on full, outside temp 89 or less, going up Fancy Gap pass

    Probably pulling too fast or you might have a thermostat issue. Either way, pull over dummy.....you'll blow your motor.

    Dexcool coolant is probbaly clogged up. I bet you've never changed it in those 150,000 miles, an it MUST be changed at 100 or you will have issues. Why keep driving it when you're that hot? Pull over and cool down.

    • @bobalobalie
      @bobalobalie Před 7 lety

      Overly hot coolant isn't going to damage anything. And, it'll take a lot longer than you may think before the engine and transmission oil begins to overheat because of the overly hot coolant.

    • @thechaindude1320
      @thechaindude1320 Před 3 lety +1

      @@bobalobalie the coolant heats up because of engine heat. And yes, overheated coolant can damage or destroy an engine

    Time to clean the stack! Remove intercooler and properly clean out radiator trash and debris,flush and fill cooling system and it will likely fix your issue...

    Duramax LLY's are prone to overheating when towing. I believe it's due to a design flaw. There's lots of info about it online.

    • @02lb72500HD

      Oshy it's not an engine problem as much as an oil cooler problem and not getting enough air flow

    Ok guys, Im going to TRY to save this guy's rear:
    Well, his video shows that the outside temp was on the high 80s, still, they were using the truck's cabin heater (I guess) to "disipate" the engine's (coolant [if any]) high temp, so maybe that is why he kept the engine running. Moreover, video also showed that A/C was active but possibly not on because of the cabin's heater.
    Still, it is very fool to keep an engine running when it is overheating, period.
    Furthermore, there is no proof to say that this truck was towing, but the cluster showed the truck was on towing mode. So yes, if the truck was towing, the engine was overheating, and the guy was driving/towing ON THE LEFT LANE (passing truck and trailers) this guy should have his driver license revoked FOR F*****G EVER
    Nah, Im not saving this guy's rear...

    Guys I know that GM designed the exhaust to run by the drivers head well it messes up the head gasket believe me this was told when my brother had a GM tech fix his truck problem and buy dealership gaskets another thing is the injectors have a tube that the injectors go into and at the bottom a washer goes out that can cause bad blow by google it guys so you can read what’s up I hope this helps some of you guys another thing the injectors need to be torqued correct or the washer will mess up.

    Okay I'm a ford fan but that has nothing to here, If I was driving I would have pulled over right away and put my emergency light on and let the engine cool down for about 20-30 minutes then check if the radiator is still hot if it is let it cool down when its cool add some water if I have any or go to the nearest gas station or store if I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere piss inside the radiator

    I know this is a old video. You should run the AC on recalculation to reduce load and heat on engine. I could not tel in your video if you were running it that way. Nothing wrong with slowing down on a hill, when pulling a load, I can not tell from the video if your were pulling heavy.

  • @Mebob2001

      Kevin Rogers It still shouldn't be overheating. those Duramaxs will put anything up and grade at any speed and stay a normal temp. One thing about the Duramax is that it has a BAD ASS cooling system on them.. he's probably got thermostats stuck closed or something

      Alex Dragon my brothers truck was leaking antifreeze well it turned out that the head gaskets blow because the way the exhaust runs by the drivers side head so he replaced them both another thing where the tube is for the injectors there is a washer that goes out if not torqued correct trouble is on it’s way now water runs in the area of the injector tube google it and you will read what happens I hope this helps you and buy gaskets from the dealership.
