- The UCI Downhill World Cup grande finale in Snowshoe brought so much drama, one could have thought it was scripted. But it wasn't. No one, not even the main protagonists of the story had seen this one coming. After a tough week in the woods of Snowshoe, West Virginia, the cards for the overall win were open wider than ever and a lot of athletes had a lot to gain & a lot to lose on the last race run of the season.
In the end it was @valihoell & @LoicBRUNI29 who took home the gold and the overall title in Snowshoe. What happened in between? Better watch the video!

What a race. What a season.
Also, not to take anything away from Snowshoe - it's a proper track, and the fans and atmosphere, all great, no question about it. But it also shows how exciting the World Cup gets when it's not just one rider winning everything all season, but a total mix of wins, and a tight point count coming to the last race.
Also, I'd really like to ride that track, looks proper sick.

I love the guy but he is just too slow talking to comment during the race. If Warner didn't interrupt, he'd talk about one rock thru the entire run haha

@@DeezNuts-ik6xl I think Claudio is still commentating but took the last few races off. I really don't know, but I have a feeling we would've heard about him retiring from it.

Most of the time it sounds like she's randomly reading of a list of banal commentator clichés which add little to the event. Emilie Siegenthaler will be at a loose end next season, please go talk to her 👍
I hope UCI realizes by now they just needs to make Snowshoe the last round every year for a nail-biting finale, simple 😅

Troy did such a flawless run , but Bruni was in that machine mode.
Unbelievable race - loved every second of it. *This sport and its riders deserve so much more then they get. I feel so many people are sleeping on the excitnent and joy Downhill racing delivers. And yet, despite it not being as popular as I think it should be - it makes being a fan even more special.* Epic edit - well done!

@@AlainBoudard Football and motorsports, many can connect with. They played as kids or yearned for their first car. Most people only ever ride their bikes around town. They miss out, though.

I am impressed by Angel’s progress he is getting closer and closer to the win. He has had the speed for years now sometimes the fastest splits of all and he is finally starting to put it together top to bottom without crashes.
This is why downhill mountain biking is so unpredictable.
I am sure that the most of them believed that the World Cup was already over,
but it wasn't.
Thibaut and Miriam were really unlucky or maybe they were too sure that it was over and done.
Anything is possible in this sport because too much can happen.

I like the choice of classical music for Bruni's run. It made his run like a...masterpiece. Contrasted with the harsh lines that others didn't take and Warner's and Eliot's commentary. Cool stuff

The fans, the community, the friendships from all the racers… everyone cheers the winner, everyone are pity if someone do a crash… yes, they are competitors… but in a good way. And not only the racers… the crew, all the commentators and media-crew, too!
Such an amazing community! It is a sport from fans for fans… other as F1 for instance everyone are able to ride a MTB and everyone can trace the same feelings… unbelievable…

This is exactly what I needed. I was at snowshoe for the second round and cell service was so bad that even though I was at qualis and couldn't even find the results for the race the next day. Loved the experience, but missed out on all the drama, didn't even know who was coming down the hill until they were right there. Thanks EJ, hope to see you at the next US cup

Wow! So interesting from a sports psychology standpoint as to what went down at SS. I know Loic seems to thrive on that intensity whereas others like Loris get thrown off mentally by intensity. Like the old “performance vs anxiety paradox”. I’m VERY impressed by Vali. Having fun and not putting too much pressure on oneself is vital. I’m sure she did some talk therapy with a sports psychologist (and some mindfulness meditation). Congrats to every athlete. Please have a World Cup on the west coast of the USA soon. Mammoth? Not sure if there are any options. Congrats to Sick Mick. Get healed up Greg and Thibot and everyone else nursing injuries. Also congrats to Angel - I foresee greatness - and stay healthy bro.

After the way 2019 and 2021 played out at Snowshoe I really hoped UCI would make that the last stop in 2022. Didn't happen, but Val di Sole is a great choice. At the mid-point of 2022, Amaury is having a legendary first half, with wins in 3 of the first 4 races and a 274 point lead in the standings. But if Snowshoe taught us anything in 2019 and 2020, a lot can still happen. (And I'm sure Red Bull and Eliot will put together another incredible season finale video like this one.)
It's so hard to watch the women's race! Vali, Myriam and Camille all deserved to win but it's so cool that Vali has won the races AND the overall!
