  • Believe it or not this is one of the most asked question I get, at least 2 or 3 people have asked :)
Sadly my genesis story doesn't involve radioactive spiders, gamma radiation or different colour suns. But it's kind of interesting, I think, and may be useful one way or another to people as they contemplate whether armouring is a hobby or a business.
Organisations I mention in the video are:

    www.qest.org.uk

I've sadly always been told that I'm too young to be taken seriously when it comes to armor, then they see what I've accomplished. I want to thank you for your CZcams videos because believe me I've looked for an armorer near me and I still cant find one. My skill has grown largely thanks to your tutorials you make a great teacher.

I'm glad the videos have been useful to you as you start out, keep hunting and keep pushing doors, one day one will open. I've no idea of your age, but if someone says you're a bit young, come back when you're x years old, kee working and then contact them on the x years old birthday. You'll either impress the hell out of them or irritate them … both results say more about them than you and you might get a foot in the door :)

    Graham,
Could you go ahead and do reviews on your reference books? I can't easily drive to a museum that has armour on display (about 400 miles/644 km for me, one way) to actually see original armour, so CZcams and books are my best references. I've got "Techniques of Medieval Armour Reproduction" and a couple other "picture books," but nothing giving details on how to come up with decent patterns. I'm a beginner, so anything useful to my skill level would be great.
Could you also cover how you design/come up with your patterns for different pieces?

I understand what you say Graham about finding a tutor, can save years of trial and error with just one week long instructional course! I get that, but you are in the heart of medieval history in the UK, maybe you have local armour smiths in the yellow pages offering courses and great if it is so, but, I appreciate your instruction as it is as close as I can get to that week with an armourer! Just found your channel, be assured I will be binge watching it over the next few months and repeating many times over! Thank you so much!

I have been into armouring for about 1,5 years now. I have found lots of help thanks to the gathering points like medieval week in Gotland. I discussed what armour is good for a beginner with Peter sprätling and it gave me quite alot. I even had a quick chat with Augusto! But your videos on armouring are so full of information and explains every bit in great detail i would say these have given the majority of my knowledge. And i have a family that supports me which is really nice because without their help i would not have come nearly as far as ive come. Thanks alot! (excuse my english)
