It's safe to say that Susan owns this song. She sings it so beautifully, and I think this song was written for her. The lyrics so closely resemble the circumstances of her own life. Go Susan Boyle

Even if Britain doesn't have talent, she does. She makes up for it.
Susan Boyle OWNS this song! Nobody can sing it quite like her! And I think the producer of Les Miserables would agree with me, as well as many of my fellow SuBo fans.

She was a "raw" talent, then she was coached. I cry every time I watch the original. What a voice, what a story!
Absolutely agree this was good but the first was better.

The coach hampered her spirit trying to focus on the annunciation of the words clearly.
The first pre dream perfomance audition was done with more genuine emotion through her wanting the dream so badly.
Everyone else at that point was primed for this amazing surprise.
It was painstaking to watch her on the stage at first, not as they say laughing at her. But still to anticipate her likely to bomb.
Her look was that of a house frau after a day of depressive chores. She definetly had the look of the character depicted in the words of the song, someone who had their fare share of suffering through life.
When she started singing
It was truly an uplifting tear jerking performance because she genuinely felt every word she sang living in that moment as her moment to shine! Expecting nothing after that point.
She lived for that moment as you can hear in her performance.
The post dream performances were also very good but understandably not as emotionally driven.
Susan Boyle ranks with Marion Anderson and Kate Smith as the greatest female voices of the age. God given, God inspired.
Im an American, and I'd have voted her on American Idol...She's got Talent and a Great Voice...I love her singing this song.!!!

She overcame so many obstacles a tribute to the human spirit
The lyrics make me think of my mom's old life when she was married before her divorce. We had the two story house, vacations every season, luxury cars, she didn't have to work. Things went wrong and now she lives alone with all her children grown and moved out. She works endless and tirelessly to support herself, and she tells me of the days in the past when she was happiest.. I feel for my mom and I guess there is some beauty in this disaster.

One of the few artists to ever move me to tears and make me bawl my eyes out, and in my opinion she’s one of the best singers ever.
I too have to agree, Susan you are getting better with each version of that song. It must feel good to know the world loves you, and it is so long in coming. Please keep close to God, and He will not only continue to bless your voice, but those of us who hear it, are blessed doubly and our hearts are more tender for your music. I remember watching her audition on Britain's Got Talent .. there was this woman who most of us thought would make a fool of herself ... But wow, we were in for a big surprise by her performance. And the song from 'Les Miserables' (which easily touches so many hearts) seemed even more moving, being sung by a woman like Susan ..as she represents so many of us unhappy ordinary souls ...
She filled my eyes on that TV show ...And now, knowing that she 'made it' , it makes my eyes fill again...

Beyond beautiful and her performance is far more emotional than her audition (that I love as well).
She looks absolutely beautiful! A completely different person than when I first saw her BGT audition. She was a diamond in the rough, she just needed some polishing. Now she's shining so brilliantly!
