  • Few short clips of disking rye stubble. Ground was frozen on top so it was a bit slippery.

    Good pulling tractor we also had a 1155 turbo with rice cane duels she was a puller. Also had the 2805 for a few years good tractor for sure.

    Sounds so good, we have a 2745 we used to use all the time but now it just sits. I'd like to fire it up again

    That’s an awesome looking tractor. We have a MF 1105 and an even older MF 50 diesel.

    Sounds so good,love to buy one,not many around in good original condition in australia,how about in the us or canada,at first i thought it may have been an aussie 2805 with donaldson air cleaner,they came standard with air cleaner in aus

      I bought this tractor from Pennsylvania, USA and had it shipped to Finland where I live. It is 1980 model. I don't know about its history, where it was origianally sold, it didn't come from the 1st owner. I guess the precleaner was optional in US, most are without it.

      v8 diesel's dont have low end torque of 6 cylinder diesels at low grunt. also fuel cost

      @jamesbarbour8400 Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@joeyw8521Absolutely spot on, on both counts. As you say, V8s have to be pushed up the engine rev' band, to get any kind of decent performance out of them, plus two extra cylinders to feed sure gets through the fuel. Earlier versions of these tractors (MF 2770/MF 2800), utilised a newly developed Rotary Fuel Injection Pump, made by CAV. Supposedly it was developed specifically for V8 engines, and the Perkins V8 640 was the first engine to feature it.
      It may have looked good on paper, but the reality was that it was absolute rubbish ! Many, if not all V8 640s were subsequently fitted with the more traditional (where V8 engines were concerned), inline fuel injection pump, usually manufactured by Robert Bosch or Simms. Much better engine performance from the inline pump. The US market MF 2000 series tractors had the option of a 24 speed gearbox, which is to say, an 8 speed main box, compounded by a three speed powershift unit. Hugely problematic owing to the poor reliability of the speedshift unit, whose achilles heel was the seals used to seal the Hi and Lo range clutch compartments. The intermediate range was engaged mechanically via large Belleville Washers, and being the only mechanical portion of the speedshift, was the most reliable. When the seals failed, it was possible to have a scenario where both Hi and Lo ranges tried to engage simultaneously, with catastrophic results. Many of these tractors were converted back to the basic 8 speed gearbox, which, although offering a lot less choice gearwise, was much more reliable.
      The speedshift unit was rushed through development, with little in the way of proper testing, and it was often the case that poor installation techniques for the rubber seals was to blame for the many faults that would subsequently occur. Late model MF 2000s had an updated and revised method of speedshift seal installation (S/No 12,000 onward, late 1981 - can't remember exactly, will have to look at my old notes), but it was too little, too late, MFs reputation in the high horsepower category took a huge hit, and MFs then Head of Tractor Engineering, Lee Elfes was fired by Albert Thornborough, the top dog at MF in that era. Elfes was actually married to Thornboroughs' daughter, but I guess nepotism will only take you so far !

    Does this one have the multi power feature, I heard that was a weak point on these tractors.

    • @MFV8
      @MFV8  Před rokem

      It has the 3-speed powershift, which was actually called Multi-Power in early production tractors. This one has been rebuilt by an expert so it should be good.

    This looks to be a different tractor to the one in other vid,2805 cultivating,are these in original condition, they look like they are very good condition,did you buy them new,we had them in australia,i been looking for one in the condition of your tractor,but impossiable to find,is there any like yours for sale,and how much are they selling for,i would happy with a 2745,2775,or a 2805

    • @MFV8
      @MFV8  Před 3 lety

      This is the same tractor as in that other video, I have only one of these. It has been repainted, has 4500 hours which equals to about 9000 actual hours in my opinion (slow hour meter). I bought this from USA in 2019, this is probably only 2805 here in Finland. Check tractorhouse.com thats where I found this one.
