In case anyone was wondering who Tenzin is named after, he's named after Tenzin Gyatso, or Monk Gyatso, Aang's father figure.

Aang and Katara's family have been bombarded with responsibilities.
When Aang got revealed his, he ran away.
I always wondered how they can cope with such important responsibilities.

I loved this show so so much when I was a kid, Aang and Kataras love was amazing and I still love this show and will forever!
I'm just sad realizing how Katara must've felt after Aang left...
She probably kept trying to heal him for days and crying non stop, until she met korra which was like 4 years of depression between aangs death and meeting korra.
I really wonder how Aang dealt with Katara during her pregnancies....

People always forget that Tenzin is their youngest son and EVERY SINGLE PARENT gives more attention to their youngest child and the older ones get jealous. Aang isn’t a bad dad. He also wasn’t raised by parents so he had no experience. And Tenzin was the first airbender born in 100+ years so Aang wanted to pass everything he knew to Tenzin
SO THIS IS WHY MY MOM DOESNT CARE IF MY 5 YEAR OLD LITTLE BROTHER WATCHES STUFF WITH SWEAR WORDS
Sifu Katara but it’s still kinda sad though. i get that he wanted to pass his air nomad culture to tenzin but his other kids were just as much air nomads as tenzin, just not air benders (so of course i understand why aang didn’t bring them to training).
yes but they don't take then on private vacations with them and forget the other two exist
GAMER GIRL SOBBLE Aang didnt just say “hey Tenzin let’s go to Kyoshi island and leave your brother an sister” the main reason Aang took Tenzin was for teaching but obviously as we know, Aang tends to get side tracked. Like in book 1, Aangs main goal was to get him and Katara to the North Pole to learn water bending, but happened to make pit stops.
@@zoestyles5139 it does feel out of character for Aang to not pass his air nomad culture when the comics show Aang happily pass his air nomade culture knowledges to his fan club. If he can do that for non-airbenders, why can't he do the same for Kya and Bumi?
I hope my kids and grandkids would still watch this very wonderful cartoon series that ever made. ❤️❤️❤️
i'm sure at first Katara went through a lot after Aang's death before Korra was found, and the fact Kaya cut her journey to an end to come home to help Katara out meant a lot, but i got the feeling after getting to know Korra and help her master water bending, judging from how Katara treated Kora, I doubt Katara doesn't regret out living Aang as long as she had and still is.

There was a whole lot of tension in Aang and katara's family especially among the kids ,still they do love each other name one family that doesn't have drama among themselves.
Zuko/Izumi/Iroh seem pretty decent...
I wonder why they never talk about Aang's parents ever, the only Avatar parents seen are Korra's & Kyoshi's were in the novels I think
Probably because aang wasn't raised by his parents he might not even know who they are
The before genocide airbenders did were not raised by the their parents and they do not know who their parents are and the parents do not kn now who their children are. All children are raised by the elder monks.

Air nomads, don't have a traditional family structure it seems. So family names are not needing.
We could easily explain away or headcanon that the watertribes, like the many (blanket statement) natives on the american continent like the inuit people, didn't really have last names or family names until Christianity forced them to _adopt_ last names. So they could be a reflection of that.
But I do find it weird that we don't know much about the Fire nation family names, especially the royal family. When you'd consider that they're more influenced by East Asian societies.

For me there's nothing wrong on choosing your own path, establishing your own identity and wanting to be a unique individual....not that it is bad to follow someone's footsteps...I see that making your own destiny is what Legend of Korra differs from The Last Airbender....tho ATLA was a great ...at first I kinda hate it when Korra loses her past live but now it makes me realized why the creators decided to cut Korra's connection to her Past lives....they wanted us to see Korra as she is not who she was..just like what Tenzin said.....and also it is an opportunity for us to reflect on our own life....just like what Iroh said to Zuko "who are you, and what do you want" it is about knowing yourself better.

If Bumi and Kya were named after people that Aang and Katara once knew, why did they name Tenzin after nobody? Is it because Tenzin was the first Airbender to be born in decades on decades and they wanted something original? But still, how could they know their child would be an Airbender just after he was born. Unless they could predict it just like Katara predicted Rohan would be an Airbender even before he was born. If they would have named Tenzin after someone, his name should have been Gyatso! I wonder why they didn’t name Tenzin Gyatso. Especially because the couple named both of their previous child after someone. Gyatso was Aang’s friend and mentor. He was even been the friend of Avatar Roku who was Aang’s past life! I feel like Gyatso as the name for Aang and Katara’s third child would have been more meaningful. If you have anything to add on to this please reply to this comment! Monk Gyatso was named after the Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso. This could have been Monk Gyatso's full name (it's not confirmed though). So Aang might have named him after the Dalai Lama. (Fun fact, the Dalai Lama are selected in a very similar way to how Air Nomad Avatars are, they each have to select items that were owned by their previous incarnations)
Yeah and bumi he named his son bumi which is aang's friend in avatar last airbender
Why they made Meelo's mouth so damn big!? lol. Almost everyone has relatively normal mouths, Meelo's mouth is like his whole's face.
I love Aang and Katara family because I can relate to them so much with my own family except for the father being absent part. And I just got to say this, don’t be saying negative stuff about this family if you can never relate to them in anyway because then you won’t understand it at all.

@@dripdoriya1707 Well remember that Avatar Roku explained that some bonds pass through lifetimes. I believe it was when studying with the guru that we learned that the love of AAngs people was reincarnated through Katara. Which makes sense. Aang and Monk Gyatso were close because of their friendship in his previous life as Avatar Roku.

Jinora,Ikki and Meelo are practically the inverse of Bumi,Kya and Tenzin Jinora is practically Tenzin if he was the oldest instead of the youngest of his siblings
It's good to be Aang & Katara's Family Tree again 😊. It good see about they are back and business like family tree, friends and family. They are here to save Republic City and restore to the world.

I just realised Aang's kids are supposed to parallel the Trio. There's the oldest non-bender, the female waterbender and the youngest airbender (Technically Aang is the oldest one out of the three but you know what I mean)

If katara is 15 or 16 in avatar laast airbender and aang is 12 katara is 4 or 3 years older than aang. remember in avatar korra there is a scene in season1 where toph calls aang twinkle toes aang said he is 40 years old so katara is 43 or 42. so if this is not true sorry i am just wondering if thats true

they would probally take a defensive stance and be more like warrior monks of the real world, the bending style would probally be more like that of firebending in movement and foscued on restriction

I always wondered where Jinora’s brown eyes came from, as all of the family members have grey, light blue, or green eyes. While Tenzin has to be the father cause she’s an air bender, I wondered if something else was going on or if it was just a mutation that occurred with her alone.
