  • This is a long discussion which occurred on stream between myself and an OCE CS ? coach who requested this, regarding a ton of different topics pertaining to coaching. Eventually in this call I gradually fall into the belief that this person is none other than a November Coach, and the conversation shifts towards why I believe people like that are harmful for players / people wanting to learn in league. Time stamps/screenshots are all below. Enjoy the discussion.
    00:00:00 - 00:03:10 Intro/my approach to coaching
00:04:12 - 00:06:59 Pro players with refined fundamentals and core principles are superior to pro players who "cheese" their way into fame due to superior micro/gimmicks. Using MC as an example from Starcraft 2.
00:06:59 - 00:09:40 Why this coach doesn't agree with my coaching and his approach.
00:09:40 - 00:14:00 My belief in giving my students an opportunity to improve themselves and their core principles rather than a "quick fix" that other LoL coaches offer.
00:14:00 - 00:17:30 The coach still disagreeing, analogies/examples occur from both of us
00:17:30 - 00:22:25 Some coaches being "Charlatans" (which also makes up most of the November Coaches) , some people believing I myself am a "Charlatan".
00:22:25 - 00:23:50 This coach argues how the "quick fix" is more optimal compared to my personal approach.
    00:23:50 - 00:24:37 Fundamentals of League
00:24:37 - 00:27:25 Using the Meta to be a player = blindly following the crowd instead of understanding why it's meta.
    00:27:25 - 00:28:51 Talent/skill in LoL
00:28:51- 00:35:33 This coach's theory and approach differences with mine
00:35:33 - 00:46:25 **Looking at a previous student's OP.GG who said to this coach he wasn't able to take away much from my coaching and I create examples on how why a "quick fix" doesn't do anything in the long run.
00:46:25 - 00:50:10 The coach talks about his style compared to mine.
00:50:10 - 00:51:00 I state that this coachs approach to League is horrific and compare it to Ken's approach from Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist. You are able to watch here www.solarmovie.ac/watch-street...
00:51:00 - 01:00:00 "You have to be better than the player in order to coach the player" - This coach
01:00:00 - 01:01:42 The coach begins contradicting himself by "not caring about his CZcams" but also trying to promote himself through Twitter, etc.
01:01:42 - 01:07:10 My opinion on this coach's approach, going back to coach's CZcams and how he should really improve if he really wants to stand with the big names in LoL instead of "liking the idea" of being a big name.
01:07:10 - 01:08:13 I begin to talk about his breakdown videos on his CZcams channel
01:08:13 - 01:10:30 The coach insists I should coach a player where they are at skill wise individually, holding their hand, step by step, rather than coaching them towards the bigger picture.
01:10:30 - 01:42:55 Discussing the issues with I have with all of this.
    01:42:55 - 01:44:55 Bathroom break.
01:44:55 - 01:59:00 I use a VOD I've used in the past with many coaches and analysts to get a small glimpse at how this person approaches macro and looks at the game. While being wrong once doesn't mean anything, how someone is wrong says a lot I feel.
    01:59:00 - 02:03:23 Concluding.
