Seeing so many new people get into Infinite makes me so happy!!! The rapper is named Dongwoo one of the true all arounders in kpop and yes he always has that much energy but it's why I love him! As a group they are to me personally the funniest group ever on variety shows. Infinite's sound is definitely synth heavy- I would specifically call them 80s synth with orchestral elements.
The songs you wanted the names of that were in Korean were: Comeback Again (their debut), Be Mine (their 1st win that meant they didn't disband and their company at the time Woolim didn't go bankrupt), The Chaser (which was named the best kpop song of 2012 by Billboard and they were actually the first kpop group invited to perform by Billboard). You would also like Destiny and Last Romeo which are two title tracks that they didn't include in this medley. Their live performances from their concerts are amazing too, almost exclusively sing live and they have always performed with a live band.
Their names starting from the sweet voiced guy are: Sungjong (vocal and youngest), Dongwoo (main rapper, main dancer, vocal, and my bias), Sunggyu (main vocal, leader, and ceo of their own company), L/Myungsoo (vocal, visual, actor), Woohyun (main vocal, lead dancer, popularized finger hearts), and Sungyeol (vocal and imo funniest member). Can't wait to see you check out more of them! Highly recommend watching the dance practices as well as MVs because their choreos are really pleasing to watch!

The second song is called "Be Mine"
INFINITE is one of the quintessential groups in my "Kpop Classics" library. "The Chaser" (the songs at 16:40) is one of the great kpop anthems. Watch the performance/dance version first.
I am literally exhausted just THINKING about how much I have to say about INFINITE. One of Rolling Stone Magazine's favorite boygroups even.

One of the reason l love Infinite is because of their music style. Comparing to the other groups in their generation, Infinite is so unique that when you just listen to only a bit of the music, you would immediately recognize them. Their Japanese release are also phenomenon.

that’s so true! back then when i was a bit new to kpop in 2012-2013, i wasn’t a fan of them yet but whenever i heard a snippet of their songs in shows i would immediately know this is infinite.

Dongwoo’s been an ace since their debut & to hear it come full circle from someone else is just 😭😭😭 Infinite is incomparable and will always be the giants of kpop in my eyes. The fact that these ahjussis can slay live vocals while dancing without losing a beat makes them legendary!

  • @zammich3649
    @zammich3649 Před 10 měsíci +21

With the fanfavorite song 'BTD' just a few months into their debut, Infinite settled into their own distinctive sound (retro 80s synth + occasional electric guitar, produced by Sweetune), a style which they mostly maintained until around 2013/2014 or so when they started approaching a more mainstream kpop sound -- although even in still with their distinctive vocals and melodies. Over time, they also started adding more of these organic orchestral sounds like those heard in 'Bad' here.
It's also interesting how Infinite's subgroups and solo releases go in completely different directions (also in incredibly high quality) but then the group is totally on the same page when afterwards they have a comeback together.

This Killing Voice is really special because their comeback "New Emotions" was their first comeback in a long time...they were all on separate labels and nobody where they stood...but the members worked out being able to do Infinite with their individual labels so even though their solo careers are handled by a different company when performing as Infinite they are under the company they created, "Infinite Company." Very straight-forward name. Everyone else said mainly what you need to know but if you have questions feel free to ask! I'm a longtime Inspirit and would be happy to answer any! Also, Sunggyu, the leader, (white shirt and shorts) has an extensive solo career and his very own Killing Voice if you are interested!

  • @rainspirit

thanks for reacting to infinite (btw, pronounced infinite, not infinity)! so glad you enjoyed them 😄 the fandom name is INSPIRIT. they just created their own company "INFINITE Company" with leader Sunggyu (white shirt and shorts) as the CEO, so we can definitely look forward to even more music from them in the future too!
I think this killing voice covers their entire sound pretty well, so you'll probably like a lot of their discography. you were right about Sunggyu being a main vocalist. the guy in blue (second from right), Woohyun, is actually also a main vocalist!

I just listened to the song "The Chaser" recently myself even though I heard about it for almost a decade now. It's so iconic and it's one of the synthy songs with alot of harmonies that you really liked in this video here.
The dancing in the video is amazing
Also their song Bad (with the strings) is epic too.

  • @milindawilson9175

Infinite (pronounced exactly like it's spelled, not Infinity) is known for their unique sound and style and how most of their songs include rock and/or brass and classical string instruments as part of their signature orchestral sound. It's said that you can tell it's an Infinite song just by the sound and style of the song within the first few seconds because Infinite songs are different than all other Kpop songs. There is always an element of the sound of their songs that makes them stand out.
However, "New Emotions," which is the second to last song they sang on Killing Voice, has a sound unlike anything they have done in the past. Although the members said they were nervous to try something new, that is unlike what they are most known for, I think it also helps to establish their fresh start as newly independent artists who are free to decide their own path from here on out. Although with their b-side songs on their new album you will hear more of their signature style and sound, so they still stay true to what makes them uniquely Infinite.
The songs in order of performance are: "Comeback Again"; "Be Mine"; "Paradise"; "Can You Smile"; "Tic Toc"; "Nothing's Over"; "Man In Love"; "Cover Girl"; "Julia"; "That Summer"; "BTD (Before The Dawn)"; "The Chaser"; "Bad"; "The Eye"; "Tell Me"; "New Emotions"; and "Together".
Infinite originally was a Woollim Entertainment group that debuted in 2010 -- 2 years after SHINee -- so this year is their 13th anniversary. They were originally a 7-member group. However, as you can see, they now have 6 members. (Hoya, who was their main dancer and considered one of the top dancers in Kpop, as well as a lead vocalist and rapper, left Infinite in 2017, and now he's a solo artist/dancer, etc.)
As you just saw Infinite has finally made a comeback after 5 years, after all the members have completed their military duties and they have now established their own company. "New Emotions" is their first comeback after becoming independent., which is why they were on Killing Voice because they are promoting their 13egin album.
In this Killing Voice performance from left to right:
    > SungJong, who is the maknae, is the member who often stands out with his pretty voice. He is known for his delicate features and his unique voice. (He is recognized for his high melodic vocal ability and dynamic range, similar to Jun from Seventeen.) He just debuted as a solo artist earlier this year, as well.
    > DongWoo is Infinite's main rapper, main dancer and lead vocalist. He is also a musical stage actor and a songwriter and solo artist. (Those rap parts you kept calling freestyle raps, weren't really freestyle, they were rap sections in the songs that, most of the time, he wrote or were wrote for the song. Freestyle means he would just be riffing making up a verse on the spot, but if you listen to the album version or their concert performances, you will see he does the same think in those versions.)
    > Sungkyu, who is a main vocalist, is the leader of the group. He was the first of the members to debut solo back in 2012 and he is also a musical stage actor.
    > L (Kim Myungsoo) is a lead vocalist. In the past he was most often the main character in Infinite's story-based MVs because he is one of the top Idol actors who has been in numerous K-dramas and movies. L is really good at showing emotion and immersing himself into every role he plays to make you believe his every emotion is exactly how he really feels and everything that happens to him is real. He is one of my favorite K-drama actors.
    > Nam Woohyun is a main vocalist and the one that usually has the powerful vocals in Infinite's songs. He is also a solo artist and an actor in K-dramas, movies and musicals.
Fun fact: Woohyun is good friends with SHINee's Key and together they formed the industry's very first project group that had members from different companies, called ToHeart in 2014. (ToHeart has a couple of MVs and a mini album.)
    > Sungyeol is a lead vocalist. He has also been an actor in dramas since before debuting with Infinite.
Not only is Infinite known as a vocal powerhouse group, but they are also known for their dancing and, like SHINee, they are recognized for being able to sings live while dancing intense choreography.
They are known for being one of the first groups to focus on making their choreography hyper synchronized and they have been coined with the phrase "knife-like synchronization." Infinite -- along with SHINee -- is one of the groups that is credited with changing the focus of dancing within the Kpop industry. If it wasn't for SHINee and Infinite, upping the game and showing everyone that it was possible to have sharp synchronized dance moves while singing live and being able to pull it off flawlessly, the industry would probably be a lot different today.

I knew you would love Infinite because of all the synth in their music! Their early sound was built by the legendary producers Sweetune. They wrote for many other 2nd gen and later groups as well, including one of my favorite girl groups Spica (and subunit Keembo).
Some Sweetune songs I would recommend to you are Kara - Pandora and Step, Spica - Russian Roulette and Ghost, Keembo - Inside and Whatever.
Later some of the Sweetune producers left to form Monotree. One of them is now ONF's main producer and you can definitely hear the synth influence there as well.
The songs you pointed out without English titles were Be Mine and The Chaser.
Btw, ONEWE did a cover of The Chaser when they guested on a show hosted by one of the Infinite members (Woohyun) 👀 And then they played it again for him to sing with them

Lots of their songs have synth, electro, 80's, and orchestral influences. For starter packs, I recommend you check out Be Mine, Paradise, BTD, The Chaser which are kind of their older sounds, and for more new sounds, you can check out Back, Bad, The Eye, Tell Me and New Emotion. My personal favorites are Destiny and Last Romeo (give them a try too >_

Infinite's discography is so impressive and full of range that it would be hard put to actually choose one favourite song from it. The ones that were not featured here would impress you just as equally. I suggest Back, Diamond, Last Romeo, Dilemma and Lonely Night. Despite having Dongwoo (rapper) as my bias and I agree that he"s an ace, each of the members are pretty much all rounders. The one with the delicate voice has had stint as a radio DJ, and the leader, the one with the white top and short Sunggyu, has been in musicals and is acknowledged by music critics as a legit vocalist beyond bg rep. Myungsoo (L) is a triple threat, singer, actor and dancer. The fact that they are known for their knife-like choreography while singing live has always been something Inspirits (fandom) has been proud of. I haven't even started on Woohyun and Sungyeol (the two boys in blue on your far right). Woohyun's falsettoes are legit out of this world and Sungyeol is a health buff and one of Korea's sexiest men!
