Using the Locomotech turntable kit for Peco LK-55 turntable

- I bought a Locomotech TTMKC turntable motorising kit for the Peco LK-55 turntable, after trying the Expo motor and gearbox kit and sending it back because it was rubbish and far too noisy.
The Locomotech kit is relatively cheap, the instructions are clear and easy to understand, and it was a piece of cake to assemble. It's really quiet in operation(not as quiet as some but still really quiet), and I am able to control the speed using an old Hornby train set controller. I could use a DCC accessory decoder for it if I needed to but that isn't required for my layout.

I believe this motor can be connected to a DCC decoder allowing you to control movement direction and speed via an NCE PowerCab controller.
Correct. And that’s what I did eventually. It worked really well connected to a decoder. I didn’t use NCE Powercab, I used a Digitrax Zephyr Express. I do have another video showing this.
If it's any help to you in the future. I find white spirits a bit oily. So I use IPA. It leaves no oily traces, evaporates quite quickly and is safe to clean electrical items too. Like the layout progress. Keep up the good work.
Brilliant mate, glad that worked out for you 👍
I just got one and fitted it and it works really well brilliant motor well worth the money
beautiful piece of kit very quiet compared to the old setup
Thanks for the review....great info!!!
You’re welcome, I hope it’s helped
Hi, thank you for this video which will be very useful to me. I just ordered the Locomotech kit which seems to me much better than the PECO model. Thierry
Thank you, the Peco motor kit isn’t great I’m told, and don’t even get me started on the Expo kit!
This is Rupert at Locomotech! Loving the video! may I have you permission to include a link to it on our company web page?
Of course you can!
Howdy! Thanks for the video! Would you happen to know what the depth of the turntable is, including the motor?
Good afternoon, is your turntable now dcc controlled ? Where did you find that motor sounds and works well
It's still DC controlled, but I think I will be converting it to DCC at some point in the near future! The motor is part of the Locomotech kit
Wow this is absolutely Incredibles I wish I would have thought of it play music on my HO scale turntable I like to let you know that I am sharing this video to my new Facebook group called trains across the world my gold behind creating this group everyone around the world to share their love of the hobby models how to videos railfanning and photos if you would like to come and check it out and join feel free to do that and upload videos and photos again thank you for sharing this video
How would I DCC this?
Not 100% sure if I'm honest with you! I'm sure there's a decoder available for it
@@chrisderby986 would not a normal dcc chip work? just connect the grey and orange to the motor?..
@@stevenkitching4866 it might! I’ll look into this, as I have a spare decoder somewhere
@@chrisderby986 , hi mate, it goes, orange and grey to motor, red and black to pick ups. Any dcc chip will work
@@stevenkitching4866 worth a shot then!
I haven't motorized my turntable yet so will take a look at the locomotech kit, check out my layout build at czcams.com/video/GqLukyLAbpU/video.html .I've lots of work still to do, thanks for the tips
It’s well worth doing, and I’d you can afford the extra then go for the indexing option, well worth it! I’ve subbed to your channel too, and will have a look. Chris
@@chrisderby986 ta v.much keep up the good work :)
@@old_duffers_chuffers thank you!
