    Extremely beautiful watch!!! I fell in love with the champagne dial variation when I first saw it. Longines history is strong but still pondering saving extra money for a Daytona.

    Agreed with your perspective on the price and watch. Very thorough review which is refreshing to see. Most channels run through specs and list one negative only in passing to avoid upsetting brands. I'd only like to add that even when Longines comes out with a new model, watch dealers often apply a discount at checkout without being prompted. I bought the Legend Diver 39mm w the bracelet in December and the dealer immediately knocked off $500 before I even asked. They threw in the nato strap for free and gave me an umbrella lol. I had a similar experience purchasing the Tuxedo Chronograph. I think dealers try to move Longines watches quickly.

    I love this piece. I just wish it was smaller, for us tiny wrist folks.

    I think for the price, you're getting great materials and a solid movement. But they do have better chronograph movements in their own collection for cheaper like the record.
    I purchased it. I'm a longines fanboy. The one thing that kills me is the clasp. It's an annoying butterfly clasp where it has to be closed in a specific order. Also the no quick release is a bummer.
    The Zulu time's push release clasp at a cheaper price point is insane.
    All watch brands are bumping their prices up and Swatch is really trying to get Longines to compete with Tudor. I think they have the heritage and design chops to do just that. But it does kinda push them out of their goldilocks price points.
    Still one of the best value for money brands out there.

      What do you think about the Longines Hodinkee Zulu? I have a video dropping tonight. I think Longines is going on the attack for Tudor's market share.

    Great video. If I buy a Longines I'm seeing 39mm Zulu GMT's used for around 2k now. If I'm spending 3.5k on a Chrono I'm going used Tudor with an awesome movement, waterproof and I like their ceramic bracelet clasps.

      Good point. It’s hard to look past a used Black Bay chrono for this price. Further, used Black Bay Pros are close to dropping below $3k!

      Very good point. Where do you place Tag H. in your line up. Do they carry more weight than Tudor or fall slightly below?

    • @richardwarren2024
      @richardwarren2024 Před 6 měsíci

      @@TheWatchFactor definitely before Tudor. Not even close. Which is probably unfair given their recent good work. But I wouldn’t pay the same price for Tag as I would for Tudor. How about you?

    I love Longines. I also feel like sometimes they're doing too much. A lot of brands do this. They keep flooding the market with new designs when really what the end user may want is the old design in more variation.

    • @TheWatchFactor
      @TheWatchFactor  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Spot on. I think the market is saturated. I would have loved to see this release in Q2 24

    • @robertsmithpresents
      @robertsmithpresents Před 6 měsíci

      @@TheWatchFactor That would make more sense in my mind. Take their sector dial for example - it's nearly perfect to begin with. Now imagine they drop some dial variations. Maybe a green or red? I think that could be more interesting than a whole new design that's a Daytona clone.

    Great video, Curt! I love your take on watches, how you collect and your views on when to buy versus when to wait. I have a few comments:
    1. What watch are you wearing? I’d love to see a wrist check on your channel.
    2. Agree with you on price - $4k is too much. I am adverse to paying retail, especially when I know that most watches take a huge price hit on the secondary market. This watch would be a great buy at $2,500 or so. And I bet that’s within the realm of possibility in a few months.
    3. I’d love to see a comparison of this watch versus the Black Bay Chrono. The used price of the Tudor is about $3,700, right in line with the new price of the Longines.
    Keep up the great work!

      Hey Richard. Always a pleasure to hear from you. 1. I was wearing the Speedy Moonphase circa 2000. I paired it on a vintage Omega jubilee. 2. I agree with you on the price point. Actually chrono 24 is showing sub $3k as of late. When it hits 2.5, I'll welcome it home....Maybe! 3. Definitely adding it to the the list of upcoming vids...stay tuned.

    Love these watches , the Gold does look great in person . I dont think its a alternative to the Rolex Daytona . Buy the Rolex if thats what you really want . I would buy one in six months when the hype has died down .

      It looks like a Daytona but lacks the prestige of the Rolex. A good offering by Longines.

      Not sure if you’ve handled them in person or not but the Longines wears “substantially” larger than the Hamilton. I have the rose gold and the blk on steel with the Hamilton iteration. When my AD here in LA had it for me to buy, I just couldn’t; I went with the salmon dial dress Longines instead. Swatch Group imo, never gives their brands placed below Omega truly all the encompassing parts necessary for an affordable masterpiece. Take for granted the sister company Mido. There is exceptional quality/value but the US market it tardy to the party…which is good for me I guess.
