    The Hultan is excellent. Very hard to beat. A good alround axe.

      That is a great axe indeed 😁👍. Like the ekelund as well with its 0,85 kg head👌

    Love your videos, and your friendship and dynamic! I love your real-world usage, not some useless testing of something that you'll never use a knife or axe for. I'm moving to Sweden in a year, so I'm looking forward to bushcrafting a lot more, along with the tips you guys taught me so far! 🤩

      Hi! We are doing fine thanks! We unfortunately missed some filming Wednesdays because of private things. But this coming week we will go out in nature and continue shooting an episode about a very beautiful cool knife 😎. Before that we are going to launch a channel trailer👍. Thanks for checking in😁👍. Have a nice weekend!

    Very nice video! I have a few axes, for hiking I take (at the moment) the Gränsfors Vildmarksyxa and for camping my favourite is the small forest axe from Gränsfors. But I also like axes from the German brand Bison. The Bison outdoor axe is a great splitter and in combination with a saw a really good choice, in my opinion 🤘

      Thanks😁🙏! Thanks for pointing out Bison axes. I like the looks! Can imagine it works very well as a wood splitter 😁👍

    Great video as always!
    Is it true that Gransfors is not so good as Hultafors, I’ve read a lot of coments from Gransfors users that the finish and blade/steel quality is way better on Hultafors axes?
    What do you guys think of that?

      Thanks a lot!😁👍
      Mmm the statistics from all comments you have read showing some clear differences apparently. Not something we have seen / experienced. Although writing this… my fathers axe from gränfors bruk actually broke on the steel couple of years back. Not sure how he managed that🤔
      Just comparing those two companies with each other in economic numbers 2021: Hultafors revenue is 33x more than Gränfors Bruk. Can only imagine the difference in resources available between those 2.
      We think the craftsmanship of both companies regarding axes are great. Not enough own experience to judge on the difference in steel quality between them though.

    why not a full handle steel axe / hatchet? Wood can break.

    • @westcoastbushcrafters
      @westcoastbushcrafters  Před 7 měsíci

      I guess the answer lays in the fact we never have tested a full handle steel axe. Last Wednesday the Gränsfors Hunter Axe shaft got loose from the head. Than I started to think about your question. What brand / axe would you recommend to us when we would like to test a ful handle steel axe?

    Nice video boys, yes fires, it also happens in our country during the summer months that sometimes it is so dry that it is forbidden to make fires... I also like axes, I have several of them. I chop a lot of wood for heating with them, almost a ton every year, I just don't bother with it and still do it by hand the old fashioned way! Cheers and good luck!😉🪓🔥🌲🌿

      @@westcoastbushcrafters An ax is my bigger friend a knife 🤓My favorite is a forged ax from a knife, I have two sizes, a little over a kilogram, and the bigger one, I really don't know how much it is, it cuts through stumps like butter... Simply, quality axes are the foundation!👌👍

    • @westcoastbushcrafters
      @westcoastbushcrafters  Před rokem +1

      Nice! Little more weight on the axes than we used during this episode😉. Cheers!👍

      @@westcoastbushcrafters For a proper ax, I make a topurko (wooden handle) myself, I have it right in my hand and it's the right length, it's important that it splits nicely... Then it's a pleasure, but I'm thinking about a splitter, because it doesn't seem like it, but it's really a lot of work to do by hand. Thanks and good luck! I'm looking forward to your new video! 🙂👍👌

      Cool craftsmanship to make the handle yourself. Haha yeah those hydraulic splitters are quite handy if you have to process a lot of wood. Thanks and same to you! Cheers😁🍻
