  • How does a passepartout cutter works - I use Logan.
    I does not have to be hard to cut your one passepartout and it is a hole lot cheaper than find and buy one for the size of your painting or photo.
    Here I am framing a small watercolor painting of a bullfinch. The cutter cuts in 45 degrees by it self with just a little help from me.

    Wow. In over 40 years, I've never heard or read of a matboard being called a "passepartout". Interesting.

    Thankyou for the demo. I just bought a maped cutter similar to the one you are using, except the one I have isn't as solid. I tried cutting a passepartout from 3-4mm thickness paper and I found it very difficult. I had to apply a lot of pressure and in the end the corners were a bit of a mess. Do you have any suggestions? I think the 3-4mm paper/mountboard is too thick for the simple cutter that I have. Also, it was my first try so maybe I just need some practice!

      Hello Martyn! How nice that you got started! You need to know if the blade cuts 4 mm. I apply a lot of pressure when cutting. Try and practice on scrap pieces. I often cut a millimeter longer than the mark so that they don't stay together. Good luck! /Tess

      It is acidfree. Natural pH.
      I use Daler Mountboards. They are also in the format 112 cm x 815 cm. 10 pc per package. They can also have different color of the core. Please check at your nearest artstore, if they do not have them they can probably order it for you. They can also show you samples of different colors.

    I have a ready passepartout but I want to make the inner dimensions bigger, Is that possible?

    • @Enkopingkonstochram
      @Enkopingkonstochram  Před 5 lety +2

      Hi, If you have bought PP and the inner dementions ar to narrow you can if you have a cutter make it any size you would like. But the cutter always cut in 45 degrees if that is what you mean. The one I use has this rail for the cutter so it always will go strait. I do not recommend the cutters you use in freehand, it takes a hole lot of practice. Good luck!
